  1. 1989 Gulf of Sidra Incident

1981 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIUpzNMbfY8 With audio transcript and link to source
  2. 1989 Gulf of Sidra Incident

Audio/video from both incidents exists, for the 1981 incident the audio recorded by USS Biddle (was on the now defunct USS Biddle website but its still on webarchive) And for 1989, there are 2-3 slightly different (runtime) audio/video files on YT and elsewhere. No use of radar by the MiGs in '89 - the F-14 crews never mentioned anything on the tapes referring to the RWR, right.. they surely would have done so in case of radar emissions by the MiGs.
  3. 3AR

The LAU-88 launcher for AGM-65 could be a better stand-in than the TER.
  4. 1989 Gulf of Sidra Incident

The 1981 incident vs the 2 Fitters.. one of them fired an Atoll Only the Tomcat pilots were shooting in '89, according to the incident audio/video (not the version shown above)
  5. Fuel usage.. uhhm it could be Easy - you wont run out of fuel Normal - halfs the fuel consumption Hard - fuel consumption as set in the data Could be that TK had something on that on TW forum And the map size - thats just to make the map/distances to fly smaller/shorter to speed up gameplay.. it has no effect on how the planes function. Yes, Ive done the fuel gauge setup a few times. Ill have to find my notes to be sure, but its like this: The Value= entry is lb (or kg as set by ValueUnit=) per second For example, you have a fuel flow scale with a max flow rate mark of 10000 lb/h To have the entry for the 10000 lb/h mark, you divide 10000 by 60 = lb/h, then again by 60 = lb/s for the Value= Example from TW A-7E cockpit ini [FuelFlowIndicator] Type=FUEL_FLOW_INDICATOR NodeName=needle_fuelflow MovementType=ROTATION_Y ValueUnit=LB Set[01].Position=-222.10 Set[01].Value=0.083 <------------ 300 lb/h Set[02].Position=-15.50 Set[02].Value=1.389 <------------ 5000 lb/h Set[03].Position=46.10 Set[03].Value=4.167 <------------- 15000 lb/h Its a non-linear scale - values set for each range of the scale
  6. Thats how they kept eyes on French nuke tests in the Pacific
  7. Bf 109 B-1 Fuselage MG 17: 2 x 500 rds (empty shells collected onboard) Motor MG 17 : 600 rds (empty shells collected onboard) Bf 109 B-2 (in-official name of B-1 factory-fitted/retro-fitted with variable pitch propellers) Same as B-1 Though, the motor MG 17 was often removed because of reliability problems with it Bf 109 C-1 and D-1 Fuselage MG 17: 2 x 1000 rds (empty shells collected onboard) Wings MG 17 : 2 x 500 rds (empty shells ejected)
  8. French aircrafts video

Footage from the French movie Les Chevaliers du ciel (Sky Fighters) (wiki link) You can find some "legendary" French Mirage F1 flying vids on YT

  11. Does the setting in the Sound Options Menu something to do with it ?
  12. There...18 Flares, 36 Chaffs in dispensers integrated into the ventral fin
  13. Su-17M2 cockpit

Your picture shows the cockpit equipped with ASP-17 type sight, Sirena-3 type RWR, old-type weapon controls and the Nav Computer control.. Not all visible clearly... The 17M2/ 22 was the first Fitter with ASP-17 and with Doppler + Nav Computer The cockpit area on the upper end of the panel doesnt match the later M3/M4 layout/shape So yes, I'd say the pic shows a Su-17M2 / Su-22 cockpit. For the color, Sukhoi Fitters seem to have a often used config of grey cockpit with black panel, here is a example of a Su-20 Fighting_Fitter on Twitter EDIT: ok.. seems to be your T-bird account ... :)
  14. F-31A mod from 2010 ... model and cockpit etc are all by Dels. https://combatace.com/files/file/10496-rockwellmbb-f-31a-mustang-ii-version-10-for-sf2/ The HUD is "missing" several symbols (all tga file stuff) because the game has got new effects in a later update (2011-2012 or so) which require a new material section in the avionics ini file. To fix the original avionics ini, find the [HUD] section and add this line HUDMaterial=HUDMaterial and then below the [HUD] section the new HUDMaterial section: [HUDMaterial] EffectShaderName=fltHUD.fx DepthBufferCheck=FALSE DepthBufferWrite=FALSE RenderedInOrder=FALSE AlphaTestEnabled=TRUE CullMode=NO_CULL LightEnabled=FALSE UseLightLevel=FALSE SpecularEnabled=FALSE EmissiveEnabled=FALSE FogEnabled=FALSE AmbientColor=1.000000,1.000000,1.000000,1.000000 DiffuseColor=1.000000,1.000000,1.000000,1.000000 ZBufferOffset=0 PriorityLevel=1 BlendOp=BLEND_SRC_ALPHA NumTextureStages=1 TextureStage[01].TextureName= TextureStage[01].MipMap=FALSE TextureStage[01].FilterEnabled=TRUE TextureStage[01].StageColorOp=TEXTURE_MODULATE_DIFFUSE TextureStage[01].StageAlphaOp=TEXTURE_MODULATE_DIFFUSE Save.
  15. No reticle, just the standard sight/reflector type visible. The NF-5B manual has 3 pages on the weapon system but no picture of the reticle.. just a description of it.
  16. All you need to know :) https://www.miniatur-wunderland.com/ Superb visitors magnet in Hamburg, Germany.
  17. Found this tool. https://www.leshylabs.com/apps/sfMaker/
  18. Its the default gun sight visible in this video ... dont know what reticle they use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo7jOS32HQg
  19. Gun sights were specific to customers. There was a simple default sight which was used by many. CF-5 has a different gun sight, a gyro sight with different reticles.
