  7. I wonder if that trainee made it through carrier quals???
  8. Damn hope everybody has checked out the Silver Triggers... without a doubt the best pilots in flight sims... atleast in the aerobatics, but I'm sure they smoke everybody in dogfights too. Oh and your video was F*CKIN NUTS!!!
  9. Okay I'm pretty sure I was flying Armed Recon (trying to test the Sam trails at the same time) I look for the update. Anybody got any clues on the skins?
  10. Alright... what I have gotten from this thread is that... AF Rangers is a "Press" name... possibly refering to PJ's or FAC's? But there is no official "AF Ranger", I was just wondering if the AF had some wierd gun toating super squad (AF Rangers)... guess not. I've always admired the SAR guys and now the PJ's (I never knew what they did). Little story about the SAR group at Patrick: About 5 or 6 years ago, a multi-felon asshole was loose right around the block from me. He was runnin around in the woods and swamp. The cops had dogs and SWAT and a bunch of sherrifs. They must have been bumbin around in the bush for a couple of hours, and couldnt find thier own ass... so they call over to patrick. Shortly there after 2 blackhawks show up... flyin about 10 feet off the pine trees, and they found that boy in about 15 mins. No searchlights... just IR (maybe thermal)... I need to get me a pair of those goggles for paintball :D Cheers, J
  11. I cant get my Navy skins (F-4B) to work with the F-4E. I've done everything that I did before... move the skins to the F-4E skin folder change the bitmap names to f4e instead of f4b. I swear that I've done everything correctly (cause it worked before... like 5 months ago), but now it doesnt work... and its pissing me off. And another thing... the Deuces Euro Terrain makes the planes all do that wierd ass flying side ways sh*t!!! Note: this is all with that fabulous patch 1 (installed correctly). Please somebody give me some tips with the skins and tile set. Cheers, J
  12. In my humble opinion, they may need to put the video card at 64mb (minimum), and needing 512 mb ram to run this game at a fringe level. Just seems to me that the eye candy is too good for anything less. Of course FPS could rely more on the amount of objects in game. IL2 runs great with my system, and so does Splinter Cell (my system is about the same as the original posters)... but LOMAC has a whole lot more stuff in it (graphics wise). Anybody know how many planes they are planning on allowing for a single mission... think IL2 is 32 planes per game? Cheers, Jay
  13. Hmmm... those links were very good indeed, but I'm not looking for an overwhelming amount of heroic stories. I would particularly like to get some first hand accounts of absurdity and perhaps incompetence in the leadership, a soldiers feelings about the government. Just go ahead and Rip Tricky Dicky and McNamara if you feel like it. Thanks, Jason
  14. For my American History class, I am to read Tim O'Brien's book "If I Die in a Combat Zone: Box Me Up and Ship Me Home", and I have to write a paper on my "thoughts" about it... well I hate book reports, and I think adding some extra flavor to the paper would really help me out. So I was just wondering if any of you Vets would care to share any particularly memorable stories with me and the rest of the forum members. Anything concerning absurdity, cruelty, bravery, etc. etc. Dont be scared to share anything too deep, but at the same time, there is no need to feel pressured. This request primarily goes out to Army and Marine vets, but if you zoom zooms and swabs have anything that you feel needs to be said, please feel free to add your stories too. Please include with your stories: Name, Rank, Service, locations, and names and dates if you care to. Cheers, and Thanks, Jason Saffell
  15. Sorry Dude I cant help ya... but I can post so that this thread stays fresh and somebody that can help you, comes to your aid. :D
  16. Hmmm? Would be sad to see SF go, but then again, very little info comes out of Third Wire, so I can understand why some modders would choose to move onto newer projects. SH*T! I hope the A-6 guys are still hangin around. As long as the Intruder is flyable... I will be happy. Cheers, Jay
  17. Oh I feel ya brotha, I've been an FSU fan since I was 5. If you've picked up the college football preview mag for the ACC, you may have noticed the headline "Can they just shut-up and play?"--in reference to the noles. Man do I feel bad for you, it's one thing to leave Tally and go in the Navy (thats Okay), but I have this feeling that you are in JAX... and that is the worst place in Florida (my opinion). Cheers, Jay
  18. So PJ's are probably at Patrick AFB by my home town... all they really have there is SAR, to help the coasties and go out when the shuttle goes up.
  19. Or if anybody has a spare... ahem... copy :) shoot me a pm if you do
  20. Oops! Forgot to add SPLINTER CELL!!!!!
  21. ...finished sim 8)
  22. Damn I thought it did go gold... or was that beta..? Dont know, and I have lost most of the anticipation for the game. When I first heard about it, I thought it was going to be the coolest game ever (it probably still will be), but I dont really care anymore. Sure I'll pick it up whenever I see it, but I probably wont be rushing to grab the first copy off the shelf. Actually, I hope they release all the reasons for why they got delayed so long, that way some meaning can be brought out of this wait. Maybe help some other companies avoid problems of those types.
  23. 1: Medieval Total War 2: Tropico 2: Pirate Isle 3: Cossacks: European Wars (they stole it from "War and Peace" (the movie... only animated)
