Ideally you'd need a Jag 3D model with a different nose as well. French Jags didn't have the chisel nose. Interested to see that C5 has updated the Jags FM and that Bobrock's F3's FM has been updated. Is there a thread anywhere with the details of those changes? Just curious. Looking forward to the update.

TMF MiG-29s Released!
BattlerBritain replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Dave et al - you must be very proud of producing such a high quality model. I know I would be if I even approached this standard of release. And it's free!! And it's a game!! Just remember - "Nil Illegitum Carborundum" - Don't let the Bar-stewards grind you down Keep up the good work guys, and thanks. -
TMF MiG-29s Released!

This is a great add-on and I love the cockpit. I have a poster of a MiG-29 cockpit somewhere and this cockpit looks very similar. I picked up the poster at an Airshow at RAF Fairford in 1991 from a couple of Czech pilots that had flown in and brought some goodies. They were mobbed needless to say, especially as they were only selling the posters for a quid as they thought that was a lot of dosh :) They soon put their prices up and went home very happy. I think their fuel tanks had a few crates of Bud in them and there were a few NATO pilots sporting Russian-style furry hats as well. -
I remember being at Biggin Hill Air Fair years ago when everybody was watching a display finish. The tannoy then announced that there would be a short break before the next aircraft arrived so people started pulling back from the display line and wandering around. It was quite quiet as well. Then I just saw something out of the corner of my eye and heard the loudest noise I'd ever heard as x4 Canadian F-104 Starfighters flew from behind the crowd, over the crowd at 90 degs to the runway and at about 60ft. I swear 5000 people hit the deck en masse!! There were kids crying, grannies having heart attacks and car alarms going off everywhere. I thought it was great

Friend of mine had a posting to a radar site on West Falkland for 6 months. He came back with some amazing photos. The site was made up of shipping containers and he was stood on top of one when an F-4 flew through the site BELOW him. He clicked the camera and you were looking down into the cockpit Nutters!! Oh, the Jags in DS did originally start flying low but they lost one before it all kicked off, so they went a bit higher. A friend of mine flew 'Katrina Jane' and was filmed by CNN on Jan 17th as he got out the cockpit and talked about how they 'run home bravely' after hitting the target. Man that was a long time ago.

Did you know that Buccaneer pilots used to use the Royal Automobile Club annual roadmaps as their air navigation maps? I did hear a true story about when the Buccs got to the sandpit in '91 that they knew they were flying low enough when truck drivers kept flashing their headlights at them to get out the way. Pukka gen that is.

Screenshot Thread

Bobrock's Tornado F3 certainly looks superb. Looking at some of the screenshots of it it's hard to tell it from a picture of a real F3. Vampyre's picture of the F3 taking off shown above - if it wasn't for the buildings in the background at the top of the picture you'd think that it was taken at Cottesmore or Lossie. Absolutely spot on. -

mppd - these are really nice. The undersides look spot on. Looking forward to any future editions Cheers, Battler -
'fraid not Would love to though, but the locals would take a dim view of it. The funny thing about 'Hot Fuzz' is that the Director is from Wells and the story really matches the story of Wells quite accurately, in that the City Councillors hate having anything modern in the City. There's no McD's, no Pizza Hut, no High Street stores that you see in virtually all towns and Cities in the Uk and elsewhere. The joke about being 'knee-deep in crusty jugglers' is right on the nail.

Yeah - it's not bad. It's not far from Glastonbury (or Glaaaarstonbree as they say round here), so it can get a bit busy in the Summer when the Festival's on. It's a great place to bring up kids. The Schools are great and the countryside is right on the doorstep. It's also an hours drive from anywhere!

Hey Wrench - glad you like 'Hot Fuzz'. It was filmed where I live My wife and kids are on the extras DVD with the opening night in Somerset. They're just behind the Directors shoulder as he's being interviewed, but only for a few seconds. It was quite something to have all the film crews here when they were making the film. It was even better seeing the film  I love the bit where they're having the gun battle behind the fish counter in Somerfields. Cracking! As for the bit where Simon Pegg tools up and rides into the Market Place - that's just great. All good stuff.
