OK - here are 2 DATA.INI files that I've modded for MiG-23s in WOI. They are modified from the stock WOI MiG-23BN_DATA.INI and stock MiG-23MF_DATA.INI and I've copied and pasted in the relevant FM parts from nele's MiG-23MF_DATA.INI at http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=4565 . I've flown them a bit and they seem OK but use them at your own risk. All credit for the FM content should go to nele who did all the outstanding work creating the data in the first place. To install: a) Copy the MiG-23BN_DATA.INI file to the Objects\Aircraft\MiG-23BN folder backing up any existing files before you do so. b) Copy the MiG-23MF_DATA.INI file to the Objects\Aircraft\MiG-23MF folder backing up any existing files before you do so. Cheers, Battler -

Johan, I've gotten the stock MiG-23BN and MiG-23MF to fly in WOI by copying and pasting the relevant flight (FM) bits from nele's FM tweek files into the WOI DATA.INIs . I just left all the dimensions stuff in the stock INI as is, as well as the new stall handling entries for the FM. It seemed to work. Took about an hour and they handle quite well now. If you want I can upload a copy later on, giving nele the full credit for producing the FM parts of the original files.

I'm having a go at adding the older planes to WOI but I see I'm not as far through it as others . I'm copying across weapons from a 'Wings Over Middle East' install I did of my own prior to WOI and so far no probs. I'm making national versions for Western weapons used by the Arab nations, eg Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. I have put the Mossie into Israeli service and it seems to fly OK on Hard Mode. Does seem to go into a stall if pushed a little too hard but you can recover it with a bit of effort. The AI pilots seem to recover but take about 5,000ft to do so. Thanks for the hint on the Meteor canopy Johan - I'll try that. One thing I have come across when using the Mossie, P-51D and Sea Fury is that when using 60lb rockets when you hit the trigger once all rockets get fired at the same time. Anyone know how get it so you only fire 1 rocket on each trigger hit? And anyone know how to edit the %chance for gun jam for each gun type, or even if that is possible?

I had fun last night. I put 'The Mossie' into WOI for the Israelis and took it for a spin. It seems to stall quite easily and spin as well, but the real good thing is that using aircraft stall recovery techniques actually seem to work. Centralise the stick, apply opposite rudder and, if needed, push the stick forward and it recovered from a flat spin. AI seemed to recover as well - just took a while (and about 5,000ft). Also put the Meteor into WoI and it flies with the Canopy Open. Really 'Cool' But using rockets such as HVAR and 60lb rocket when you hit the trigger all the rockets fire at once. Anyone of a tweek to get it back to firing one rocket for each trigger pull?

Paratroopers
BattlerBritain replied to Skelator56's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It's probably because the Paratrooper is treated as a bomb by the game, so when it can't find the bomb specified in your LOADOUT.INI it tries to load the nearest available bomb in the Weaponsdata.dat file. So find out why the bomb specified in your LOADOUT.INI isn't appearing and you can get rid of your Paras. The Paras should still work though. When you release them they should float down and make a small bang when they land. If you're getting CTDs with them the something else is really wrong. -
WOI arab planes

Has anybody had problems flying the MiG-23BN in WOI? I tried it and it was uncontrollable in Normal and Hard modes. -
Just added a cockpit to the MiG-23BN and MiG-23MF. The MiG-23BN just doesn't fly at all. Mine goes into a gentle right roll and won't respond to control inputs in roll. The rudder is also wrong - it needs : RotationAxis=Z-Axis // needs adding //ReverseModelOrientation=FALSE ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE ..but even then just doesn't respond. The MiG-23MF just won't turn. Seems like FM needs a tweek. I know the MiG-23 was a poor performer but compared to the WoE MiG-23's this one's just plain weird. Tried the above FMs in Normal and Hard modes - same overall result. Other than that - great fun!

I'm just adding the weapons a bit at a time and starting with SAMs. Just added the Israeli SAMs in the form of Stingers and HAWKs only to find that the Israel Terrain doesn't have any SAM sites specified for the Israelis. Also, has anyone flown over the Pyramids yet? I can see that they're specified in the terrain file but I can't get them to appear. Might have to add them from Gepards terrain.

Spitfire!
BattlerBritain replied to Gocad's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
PR9 by any chance? Real nice skin, as are all the others you've been doing. Like the Malta skins you've done for the MkV Trop - need to take that for a spin. You working on any Battle of Britain skins by any chance -
Looks like weapons now have extra drag co-efficients for sub-sonic and super-sonic drag. Missiles also have CL Max mods. An interesting addition is with the ECM pods. They now have a Min Ghz and Max Ghz ratings (currently both 0 for ALQ-131). I'm wondering if this is to allow future mods for frequency specific ECM?

I've only just got WoI and I'm having a blast My rig is old - and I mean OLD!! I'm on an AMD 1.6GHz with 1Gb RAM and an NVidia GeForce 4 Ti4200 128Mb and so far, not a glitch. Things are fast, smooth and the terrain is great. Can't wait for the Weapons Editor and Object Extractor to be made available to start adding things. New Centurions look well good.

USAF F-4 Tailcodes for WOV

Loaded this up last night and it's brilliant. An outstanding piece of work - really enhances the Vietnam 'flavour' of WoV. Well done Mike. -

"Anyone interested?" he asks? Is the Pope a Catholic? Do Bears $hit in the woods? I think there's one or two people here who'd love a copy. Post it up and let's give it a test run Cheers, Battler -

Damn! That link was getting so many hits they took it off that link, edited it and put it on the main BBC News page. Oh Well - here's some stills: http://forums.airshows.co.uk/cgi-bin/ukarb...ST;f=36;t=39549
