look like i've got a lot of running lights to add.... and you can see the Yagi antennas halfway out on the outer wing panels Ed,is the seat part of the LOD? if so, might want to raise it up a bit, so the headrest is level with the T on the side canopy frame (it just looks low to me) this is really coming along NICE!!!! -

there's actually 2 serial fonts at simmerspaint shop ...grab them both, you can't go wrong!! as to the nape tank, it's data ini will tell the game it's a drop tank; nothing nasty will happen when you drop (unless you're standing where it lands! Trust me! -

startos: like stary said, -4 posing as the FM-2, since we don't actually HAVE an FM2 (did you know the FM-1 was exactly the same as the F4F-4, only with 4 guns) markings are USS Gambier Bay prateor: that German Spook figure is too cool! required Screen: "Off To the Turkey Shoot" -

aside from it being uttery craptastic!! In the readme for, I enumerate all the differences (and the other skin is the USS Ranger in the Atlantic) compare the hangar and loading screen images with the 'in game' model. considering it was used in combat only one time... truely, exceptionally courageous men out of couriosity, for those that have the DAT Devestator, would there in any interest in a skin/ini pak for that? My Midway Devestator skins are 100% historicaly correct; right down to matching Modex and BuNums. I sent them to Capun a long time ago, but don't think they ever got posted there -

SF2NA WW2 Phillipines Islands (1944) Terrain Update -- Something for the PTO players -- = For SF2, Full-5 Merged (ONLY) = *This mod will aboslutely =NOT= work in SF/Wo* 1stGen game installs; it is designed for use =ONLY= in a WW2 PTO-centric mods folder that is built off the SF2:NA exe.* A very quick and dirty mod for the WW2 Phillipines Island terrain that adds the required NA "coding" and _water.bmp with carrier stations. This is =NOT= a full terrain: just inis & a _water.bmp. It is to be applied to the modified version of the terrain I (re)relased in 2008, avaliable at this URL: http://combatace.com/files/file/7145-ww2-phillipine-islands-by-edward/ New main, data, targets, nations, and types inis, along with (excessvely) modified desert airfield inis, allow for a 'drag-drop' update to SF2NA. A new SF2NA style water bmp with 2 carrier 'zones' was created and included. LimitedNations is set to TRUE; make sure you have the latest version of the WW2 Nations ini, as 'IJN' is most definatly one of the nations needed. As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. So, PLEASE read them for necessary instructions. Also, give the "Notes" section a read too. More Carrier Capable Aircraft are coming soon ... please be paitent! I'm only one guy doing 6 peoples work on no budget.... Happy Landings! wrench kevin stein -

here's a fix for something I missed: open the CVE data ini (Casablanca class), scroll down to Cat1, and replace the existing LaunchTime= with the one below.... LaunchTime=3.0 was too slow. this may be too fast, but gets Wildcats up to speed so they can fly better -

it's called 'being behind the curve' geary, if you have SF2:I expansion pak with the mustang (or, afaik, WoI's expansion pak, for 1stGens), the available skins should work them. there's a BUNCH of that era skins in the SF2 D/L section. I'll zip up the extractor, and uploads ASAP. REMEMBER: if you're on Vista or Win7, place the extractor's folder on the Desktop, NOT into the users or program files. Otherwise it won't work. -

I agree ... great Buc shots (pun intended!!) as to WW2, we need better models for many aircraft; many are 'unavailable' to those that want, and most importantly, we need FMs for the ones we have. -- required screenie: testing concept of Type99 torps as 'cruise missile' for WW2 'Naval_Strike/Cruise_missle' attack profiles on the Betty. It didn't turn out quite the way I wanted, and so back to the drawing board. But, at least the 'shipdamagedeffect' is working! -
anyone working on updating Operation Darius?
Wrench replied to DarthRevan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
didn't TK change (yet again) SAM effectivness in the last patch? Targeting wise, the original release is quite correct -- SAMs are placed where they actually exist. terrain isssues are caused by people other than me ... it was fine on the original release. The way the map is set up, the NAstyle "carrier zone" really can't exist, as there's no room for it down near Bahrain (where it would actually be) due to proximity to THE WALL. No CVBG commander worth his stars is gonna pin his boats at the top of the Gulf, surrounded on 3 sides by land, in shallow waters and no sea room -
SF2NA WW2 Phillipines Islands (1944) Terrain Update
Wrench replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
still to come: Wildcats and Dauntless pak need a NEW FM for the Val!!!! (help!) Central Pacific and Oknawa NA upgrades solomons will most llikely NOT get a carrier station, as "most" of the action is based around USMC/USN land based aviation*. When you add a carrier station, and have ANY aircaft that are carrier capable (even when historically said aircraft users flew from land -in this case, the Marines) you're locked in to flying off the boat. Of course, making a 'nationalized' USMC, landbased version is just a simple ini edit, and copy/paste to create the new bird suffice it to say, I'm only modding what's "here" at CA *yes, I know all about the 2 carrier battles -

you need to 08 level extractor; it's somewhere in the SF/Wo* Tools and Untilites section. If not, I'll find my archived one and upload it. you sould be able to use Gerwin's on 08 levels... btw, that skin exists for the SF2 Mustang ... it's sitting on my HD, with the correct nose are for Col. Hess -
keyboard control question
Wrench replied to bras's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
actually the "mods folder" is automaticly created the 1st time you run the game's exe. We just call it that for convience (and the fact that very few of us have one that unmodded!! ) There is a real name for it, but can't remember. However, I DO remember the stuff down in the /ProgramFiles(x86) is called the 'core install'. well, personally, I like the stock ones, as the game generates parked aircraft. However, for a more busy deck, there's SkateZilla's Nimitz class (don't remember what name it's using this week ... CVN-75 or something??) -

hmm....judging by the plate armor glass, and the refelcctor and ring-and-bead sights; I'm guessing Tomahawk; maybe Warhawk too (have to check the D&S book). and now, the rquired screenie (AD's Oscar) -
keyboard control question
Wrench replied to bras's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
yes, but most importantly: READ THE READMES THAT COME WITH THE SKINS/AIRCRAFT/GROUNDOBJECTS/TERRAINS If the uploader has done a proper job (and I get all over them if they don't!!!), all the instructions necessary are 'written down' for you. also, as you're new to the game, I'd really suggest going over the SF2 Knowledge Base -- start at the top (1st therad) and read them all. It'll give you good working basis from with to start
