  1. Ah that'd be because you didn't use the DR1 LOL. Nice terrain. I missed this ... hafta try it out.
  2. Wow these are happening quick FC ! I bet you're already working on 2.5 including the updated Bristol M1C !
  3. LOL I'm getting slaughtered by Archie. Ok guys you were right about better AAA with patch2 ! Time to employ a little more care I think.
  4. Right on Bandy ! Let's make those wheels squeak. We want WWI.
  5. I had the same problem. Thanks Recon.
  6. Thanks SRT. There's been a frenzy of debate on this subject today and it transpires that the A-Team's new Roland CII release includes the rocket files in its weapons folder that can simply be copied into TW's weapons folder and problem solved. I'll go the easy way so no need for the weapon editor .... but thanks for the link anyway ... much appreciated.
  7. Thanks Pete. So simple really. Appreciate your help. Okay I installed patch2 and Firecage's latest plane fest and was pleasantly surprised to be plonked into the cockpit of a N11 straight away ..... but in the air right next to my target ...... hell of a shock ! Told the CO off something terrible after landing only to find it was actually the in-game settings that had reverted to default. Apologies all round and a few face saving ales in the mess were duly ordered and before long the CO was back to his best with his Trenchard impersonations and his staggering penchant for dressing up in womens clothing. Still the boys let him have his fun knowing what his wife looks like. Poor sod. I think I'm digressing ..... patch2 .... hmmmmm .... jury's out at the moment. Have to test more and get the le prieur rockets and other stuff working too but so far there's been no glaring problem. Edit: except the DVa seems to have disappeared as a flyable selection ? Anyone else ?
  8. That makes it easier. Thanks for the clarification Charles.
  9. I agree Ken .... the taube was a magnificent creation. And this is but one aspect that fascinates me about the early pioneering days of aviation imo .... more so than later aviation era's .... but that's just me. I'm sure I've seen a video of a replica in flight somewhere but where I couldn't tell you. And another early one ..... the N4 ! I admit I had to google it as I'd never heard of it ! Nice. Very nice. I like your concept of including the very early planes because it is an area that is sadly over-looked in many WW1 flight sims in favour of the more popular and romanticised later models. Not that there's anything wrong with that of course but a bit of balance would be nice. As for handguns and hand held bombs I'd welcome that proposal because that's exactly what they did before the thought of bolting MG's onto the wing or fuselage became reality. And it sounds like fun anyway to take potshots with a handgun at another plane in flight. Certainly adds another element that's for sure. I wonder if that has been explored in any other flight sims ? Now how are you preparing your flight modelling for the early planes ? FM is the most important part of any flight sim imo and I think (I could be wrong though ?) that the slower the plane the harder it is to get the FM right. Are you getting any help professional or otherwise ? Cheers, catch.
  10. Exactly what I was thinking !
  11. okay so rather than mess around with this weapons editer thing you just copy the CII's weapons pack to the TW weapons folder and the N11 will have rockets too ?
  12. A little confusing for newbies to TW products ? So the SFP1 extractor can extract all available data files except weapons ? When I tried the extractor there were no weapons data files available to open ? So in order to enable rockets you must have the weapons editor ? Is that right ? I thought the extractor was the only tool required to edit ini's.
  13. Thanks Monty. Now what's this weaponediter you refer to ? You can't do this with the SF extractor ? 5) Start WeaponEditor.exe, open your WEAPONDATA.INI and Import/Merge content of the file to_add_to_WEAPONDATA.INI
  14. Cool Taube Ken. I'm glad you're including a/c from the early years. I like your pilot personality idea. That'll go really well with the classic sardonic British humour and biting wit that I presume you'll employ ? Good lad. And remember it takes a good drunk to play the piano badly.
  15. Hey Monty I think this is for y .........
  16. Sounds good Firecage. Look forward to giving this a go
  17. Monty, what's the difference between this and the "Nieuport 11 add-on plane" ?
  18. Excellent work Monty and Tex. She looks fabulous. There's two N11's in the download section both called N11.rar. One's 5mb and one's 1/4mb. What's the difference ?
  19. Blimey that's tough. Can you give us a clue lol
  20. I timely reminder Tailspin. Yes it is only 3 months old so it's pretty remarkable what has been done in that time. It's so good to see such a frenzy of enthusiasm from the modding community and I think most of us are in awe at how quickly things are developing. I'm sure TK finds this very satisfying that FE has been embraced so well by so many .... although it's more work for him managing it all now lol.
  21. Excellent news FC. Please keep us posted.
  22. Thanks Pete much appreciated. FE really does grow on you especially with all the variety of planes now available. And I would be so p****d off if my own stupidity stuffed up something ..... cheers. BTW, had a great mission with the Pup last night where I "teamed" up with another wandering Pup after a long wheeling, milling dogfight (you know when suddenly everyone disappears and you're all alone) and together we baited a poor old eindecker while taking turns at potshots. It was a bit grizzly really like a couple of cats playing with a wounded mouse but it felt like the AI Pup knew what was going on. Anyway eventually the eindeckers right wing peeled off and down he went. It was one of those moments when I really felt I was "there" instead of just facing a computer screen. It's those kind of immersive moments that make me understand TK's vision for the game. And it can only get better so things are looking good.
  23. Thanks Dagger. I kind of understand but being a newbie to this kind of thing is it possible to provide more comprehensive detail or a link for dummies on this subject lol ?! On another post TK said you can just copy your modded FE, than add patch2 to it, then if it has issues go back to the original. Sounds simple but details such as pointing exe's to it (amongst other things I guess) are foreign to me ? The alternative method I guess is a complete reinstall of a 2nd vanilla copy of FE on your hard drive, but as simple as this probably is, I don't know the precise steps. Hope you or someone else can help .... and sorry for the newbie questions.
  24. The default F5 view occasionally did this and I always thought it was something to do with a possible conflict with the "shoulder view" snap back effect as intimated by recon3. I don't use F5 shoulder view anymore and prefer to use the F5 key for the "check6" mod. If I want to pan around in "outside view" I'll use F6 which is far more stable and does not have the annoying "snap back" effect.
  25. Just browsing at EB and coincidentally saw it. It's called Battlestations: Midway. Combines flight sim with ship/sub sim and RPG/tactical. Don't know how good the flight dynamics are as that's very important to me and I'd hazard a guess it's pretty arcadish. But the box says it's really good lol.
