Hey Dude - I dragged my feet getting back to you (life happens), but here you go I tried it in hard mode, and again I loved flying it. By chance, I went up against the P-51D-30 (not the AvHistory FM), and it was like taking candy from a baby. That's great, but it's "too easy." The Mustang is the natural enemy of the 205. They should be about even in most respects with a slight advantage to the MC.205. It should be a real struggle for the 205 to defeat the Mustang, but as the player against the AI, you should (just barely) prevail. So it happens, that I made an FM for SF2 for this plane a long time ago. I wanted something else for the TW Mustang to shoot at. So I compared our two FMs. The major differences between yours and mine are here [LeftWing] / [RightWing] Yours: CL0=0.1006 CLa=1.3474 Mine: CL0=0.0112 CLa=1.085 Next section: [LeftOuterWing] / [RightOuterWing] Yours: CL0=0.0330 CLa=1.1675 Mine: CL0=0.0115 CLa=1.575 So your FM gets TONS more lift at 0 AoA (CL0). Any increase in speed and you'll get more lift, LOTS of it. If you pitch up (CLa), you still get LOTS more lift than I do. This means you lose very little speed in the combat turn, which means you can sustain the turn better than anyone. When I landed I tried to "spill air" to lose speed and altitude, but I couldn't because any nose-down attitude increases speed, and thus, more lift. I got it down, but I missed the airfield by about a mile. Take all this with a grain of salt. It's only an opinion. If you're happy with it, run with it. I certainly do with my FM mods. My rule of thumb is: Fly with the new FM. Once you're happy with it, switch to the other side and fly for it's enemy. Does it still seem reasonable? Does it match historical precedents? Is your a6m2 out-diving your P-40? If so, and the historical P-40's only real effective escape from the a6m2 was diving away, well something isn't right. Back to the drawing board. And I swear, I DO go back...for hours on end. *sigh*

In some of these I added sounds I collected. The FM is set to use them, but you can always change that if you prefer different sounds. Spitfire Mk I SF2 Spitfire MkI FM.zip Based on the TW stock Spitfire 9C. Just paste this folder into the aircraft directory and copy all your Spitfire9c files in there too. It's meant to be in a folder named "SpitfireMkI" Bf-109E-3 SF2 Bf-109E-3 FM.zip Rossouk's/Ndicki's work of art, plus a sound I pulled from somewhere. Ju-87B Stuka SF2 Ju-87B FM.zip Pasko's work of genius. Just the FM for this one. Take the Spit against the 109 for a bit, and get ready for vicious knifefight.

Stock Spitfire reworkShrikeHawk replied to ndicki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum Your Mk I skins look terrific, Ndicki! Can't wait to get my hands on them. I'm getting ready to post new FMs soon. It'll be awesome to put them together. I wonder if it wouldn't be easier overall to use Cocas' Spits. Then we could get Mk Vs and VIIIs to order. Of course that means a lot of work for Cocas if you're up to it, buddy.

Stock Spitfire reworkShrikeHawk replied to ndicki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum I wonder if that's not the stall sound. Or perhaps the pilot grunting under the gees.

hehe. That's just bloody funny. I hope I can remember it all.

Stock Spitfire reworkShrikeHawk replied to ndicki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum I wonder if Peter01 is still around. He's the FM guru for FE. If he knows of a way, there's hope. I see if I can find him.

Stock Spitfire reworkShrikeHawk replied to ndicki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum I've been thinking about that but am not sure how to do it. Even cooler would be to get the sputtering engine sound.

Stock Spitfire reworkShrikeHawk replied to ndicki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum Roger that. I'm still running dogfights against the 109E-3 and making adjustments anyway.

Hey Ojcar, Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Generally, I liked it. I only have two concerns. 1. It retains energy (E) far too well. While trying to land I dropped the throttle to 0 and made slow orbits to kill my speed, but somehow maintained around 180 knots. I never could get low enough and slow enough to drop the gear. During a dogfight, I enjoyed never losing energy but that's unfair to my noble foe. 2. This is probably related to #1. At over 220 Kts the plane pitches up strongly. Over 270 kts, it pitches up hard and I need significant down force to keep it steady. This sort of thing "does happen" with other airplanes, but usually above 350kts. Otherwise, I thought it flew very well. Great work on this one.

SF2 FM for Wolf's P-38LShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum Oh yes - I'm interested in all of it. Right now, I'm working on Wolf's Tomahawk and Ndicki's 109E-7 (which I expect is not much different from the E-3). This can join the 109F and the P-38F I already have converted (but still testing) for the beginning of an Operation Torch planeset. I'll go straight to the Mk1 Spitfire so it can join the Stuka and 109E-3 in the BoB planeset. The Pacific has always been my first choice too. So I'm definitely heading in that direction too.

SF2 FM for Wolf's P-38LShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum I use Paint Shop Pro. It has a tool called PictureTube that can re-create an image as often as you like. So I made a custom one for rivets. I just create a layer on top of the base and go to work. I can change the scale for larger or smaller rivets. I can change the Step for more or fewer rivets. For long rows of them, I click where they start, move to where the rivet line ends, shft + click, and a long line of rivets appears.

SF2 FM for Wolf's P-38LShrikeHawk replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum Thanks guys. I'm actually a bit compulsive about tweeking FMs, hehe. It's all good. It's where I get the most fun out of the game.

Haha! That would do it for certain!

	Woohoo! Happy B-Day man!

CloudsShrikeHawk replied to ramrod5278's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion If you're getting big squares instead of clouds then I suspect you're dealing with a corrupted file or even a missing file. I just downloaded Cloudscape v2, for instance and loaded it into WoE. Everything comes out okay. Maybe try downloading again. Then be certain environmentsystem.ini is in the Flight folder along with, at least, a cloud image named cloud1.tga
