  1. That's the beauty of what-if. Now they can be operational. As far as I know the sole aircraft that was completed did a couple of flights in Iraqi and Yugoslav colors and then was flown from Croatia to Serbia before the chaos began. For the most part my inspiration has been these pictures.
  2. Well until NATO gives it a designation, I'm going to dub it the 'Fartbox' Seeing some people suggest it looks very similar to an old Northrop design, the MRF-54E
  3. Hey all, just a quick question. Do we have any barrage balloons or similar looking aerostats? Took a look in the downloads and didn't see any. Trying to spice up the Afghanistan terrain (for personal use) and wanted to add something to replicate the observation balloons that were tethered around some of the bases. No idea what they're called, I just remember we had three or four of them around KAF. I should also ask, is it possible to have a fixed object in the air in SF2? You can see the balloon over the mountain in this picture I took of an Afghan Mi-17 that was doing touch and goes.
  4. Not sure if it will make any difference, but what flight model difficulty are you using? I'm pretty sure I ripped the wings off the old Mirage Factory F-16A Block 1 before while trying to evade SAMs with the tanks still on the wings. That's going off a memory from years ago though.
  5. @Gepard I thought I remembered seeing them in the Battle of Britain terrain. Assumed they were modeled as a group though. @whiteknight06604 I didn't even think to look in there! Good idea.
  6. Strike Fighters 2 vs War Thunder jets?

War Thunder has a very nice selection of planes and tanks. And the damage models are cool too. I've played my fair share, but grinding like that is not something I have any interest in doing anymore (I feel old saying that!) Stopped playing World of Tanks and World of Warships for the same reason. These games make it so easy to put your money into as well. It's horrifying how much money some people have put into these games. The WT community is also, how do I put this..."interesting" And then there's SF2 which, ok let's be honest it's ancient, but it just feels so right.
  7. And now the next set of screenshots will be correct too! Thanks!
  8. @Wrench it's in the Operation Tainted Cigar mod. Not sure who originally made this skin. --- Required screenshot: Two F-105Bs* on approach to Patrick AFB. *dtmdragon's stand in F-105B is well suited for OTC.
  9. FANG Deuces over the Keys. Got a little too close to Cuba, had to evade an SA-2. "I'll show you for firing a missile at me you SOB!"
  10. Had a wake up call on my takeoff roll when the Nike batteries starting launching missiles!
  11. Mujahideen and Rebel Squads

Time to make an Afghanistan install again!
  12. These little details on the ground objects are great! A coffee dispenser, who'd have thought?! I'm sure the platoon sergeants will be huddled around it. Plus it's cool to hear the insight and suggestions from daddyairplanes and EricJ. I was in the Army as well, but Aviation doesn't have any of these vehicles. And our field exercises were normally spent relaxing in a GP Medium eating whatever we brought along
  13. I'm thinking about adding the F-105 (D, F, or G) to the 1979 SF2E campaign since that'd make for a fun challenge. But I can't find any information on what the loadouts would have been during its time with the Guard/Reserves. Anyone here have any good information on that?
  14. Now that raises another question, would the Thunderstick mods provide the Thud in SF2 any meaningful or noticeable change in capabilities over the stock aircraft or would it just be a visual change? I'm aware it'd require a new 3D model or fake pilot trickery to be accurate.
  15. I never really thought about the fact that the 105s would have been so worn out, and I was a maintainer ffs lol. It makes sense though. Well, even just doing strike or SEAD, whichever 105 I choose, will still be a challenge. Thanks.
  16. Oh yeah fully prepared to do a SEAD campaign. Follow up question, would the surviving single seaters have been used solely as strike aircraft or would they have have carried out other air to ground missions too?
  17. I can hear my first sergeant yelling from here! It's a good thing there's no map with Ft. Riley on it!
  18. It looks like some had an M60 mounted on top during Vietnam, but there's less pictures of them armed in any following conflicts. Like EricJ said, they're not really a front line vehicle.
  19. Sorry if this has been asked before, but is it possible to have the eye candy of NavalCampaign=True without the enemy sending constant wave after wave of aircraft after the carrier group? Basically I want all the extras that come along with a naval campaign, without the actual naval campaign. Again, sorry if it's been asked before or if the answer to this is incredibly obvious. It's been a long time since I've looked at campaign files.
  20. The carrier groups with their escorts and support vessels and the extra aircraft flying around the map on naval search and early warning missions are what I'd like. Menrva's post sums up the issues pretty well. I forgot that naval campaign disables night missions. Rather irritating, really. Who doesn't want to hunt Backfires at night over the icy North Atlantic? Does make sense that it's a balancing act. So zero intelligence would effect the enemy's ground campaign as well? That's unfortunate. The enemy aircraft only being assigned air to air missions in a naval campaign might work for a border skirmish campaign. I could give that a try since it will still give me some of the results I'm looking for.
  21. NASCAR

I'm a sportscar racing fan (IMSA, WEC, GT World Challenge, etc) but I'll always put on NASCAR when they go to a road course. Great chance for some IMSA drivers like Andy Lally to do well.
