  1. KillerBee, the series uses DX10, or shader model 4.0. Shader model 3.0 is DX 9, which is what the OP is describing his game as rendering.
  2. A dull blue solid color, with no texture? So I take that it doesn't look like this? It almost sounds as if it was somehow stuck in DX9 mode.
  3. Interesting article: http://spectrum.ieee.org/automaton/robotics/aerial-robots/dutch-police-training-eagles-to-take-down-drones
  4. Dutch Police Training Eagles to Take Down Drones

Derk, My concern is with "wild" birds encountering drones, and not those that are trained are trained for falconry. I'm sure that the authorities would take steps to prevent injuring their avian partners, as they do with their service dogs. Raptors from merlin size on up to eagles are prone to defending their territories, as are members of the corvid family (ravens, crows, jays, etc), so the potential for injury is pretty widespread.
  5. Even if you don't want Win10 ...

This is going to be a nightmare for small and medium businesses. I have a feeling that quite a few lawsuits will be filed shortly.
  6. Dutch Police Training Eagles to Take Down Drones

LOL, I was referring to characters from a 1970's science fiction movie, "Logans Run", based on a novel of the same name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logan%27s_Run_(film)
  7. Dutch Police Training Eagles to Take Down Drones

Logan4, if you check on Youtube, you'll find numerous videos of hawks and falcons attacking drones. So I agree that this is a valid concern, and I'm sure that they'll be a public outcry as soon as a few raptors wind up getting injured by larger drones. BTW, where's Logan 5, Francis 7, and Jessica 6 at?
  8. That's old news, and it is indicative of one's system lacking in video horsepower. A decent video card along that's been properly configured (tweaked) will eliminate this completely. I suggest at least a mid-range Nvidia GeForce or AMD Radeon, with 2 GB of VRAM, minimum. On Nvidia cards, this setting works wonders: http://combatace.com/topic/84199-frame-rate-tweak-for-nvidia-users As Russ indicates in the same thread, on Radeon cards, adjusting the Flip-Queue (as per this link: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?344714-Computers-ATI-Graphics-Card-Tweak-Guide ) achieves the same results.
  9. Version 353.30

    109 downloads

These are drivers that are presently working well with Nvidia video adapter up to and including the GTX 750 ti. They are for meant for MS Windows Vitsa, 7, and 8, 64-bit versions only. These should cure any visual anomalies in the Strike Fighters 2 series that have been introduced by later Nvidia driver versions. I highly recommend using this display driver sweeper utility before you install the 353.30 drivers (available from here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html)'

  11. Here we go again....

Yes, seeing the idols of one's youth pass away does tend to emphasize one's sense of mortality.
  12. Sounds like a resource issue. What graphics card are you running?
  13. Presently, It is possible, if you know what you're doing. While it was once a simple install process in WinXP (back when SF2, SF2V, SF2E, and SF2I were first released), SF2NA and the followup patches sort of porked that process. To really get the most out of those DX10 titles, you really need Windows Vista, 7, or 8.
  14. Here we go again....

Ummm, you do know that Glenn Frey passed less than two weeks ago, right?

  16. A 970 is at least an additional $250 on the unit that he's looking at (from the factory).
  17. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Lessons learned from previous storms: Build a 'dune" wall to keep the ocean out of your town! A drone flight from South to North along the coastal stretch of Belmar, NJ, show that the wall worked as intended, and kept the storm surge from flooding the streets in that town. The Atlantic looks relatively calm when compared to how angry it appeared at the height of the storm.

  22. Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey dies at 67

    Seriously.... RIP Glenn
  23. I'm Not Sure Where to Ask This...

  24. Check your laptop's power options, under Windows control panel. Make sure that it's using the "high performance" profile when it's plugged in. Then look at the drivers and other issues. BTW, the 970M should be fine, as it's a 6 GB graphics card. It's the 2 GB (960 and lower) units that were having issues with the later drivers. Another thought:; read this and apply this setting in your Nvidia control panel: http://combatace.com/topic/84199-frame-rate-tweak-for-nvidia-users/
