I think that's what should be done in the first place. The DLL looks for the enbseries.ini file inside the Flight folder. Not in the root of your SF2 installation. If it doesn't find one in the first execution, it creates a default with most of the filters turned on. Thats why people get the weird effects. There's was a long thread about the enbseries around here, which had some useful configs posted. Just use the ini that comes with the ZIP package and edit to your own taste..

This thread made me install Windows7 core2duo 3.0ghz, 8800GT, 2gb ram, SF2E test results, ALL settings Unlimited except Shadow (low), same mission, cockpit view XP, w/o enbseries 25 FPS XP, w/ enbseries 25 FPS Win7 w/o enb 15 FPS Win7 w/ enb 40+ FPS so it looks like it works , but how, I don't know..

Just walking in your footsteps Wrench I have to say, STT (Swambast) is the bomb! The second half of the naval base construction came after I began testing this fantastic program. You just got to see to believe how easily you can get your creative ideas from paper to the ini files. Thanks for developing it Steve Today I added some rivers.. The geography is so lively, it's a joy to do sightseeing flights. I also switched back to using the 4 seasons Stary, had missed all the colorful fields, looks much better now. Lastly, I bit the bullet and started messing around Istanbul, some bridge and harbour building is underway. edit: Yeah Dave, if any historical site is to be in there, thats got to be the first! But this is strike fighters, we need stuff to bomb right, so..

Hey good start You just got to hand tile those cities. Or if still at the autotexturing stage, and got your cities defined, perhaps set the "check slope" in texture types menu (TE), this will help in not texturing those mountains with city tiles. There's another function that you might try and see; "smooth height field". It's a compromise, kind of kills all that rugged mountainous terrain and smooths it down. But then you don't have floating trees and other weird stuff. The texture type settings (altitude, slope..), and the smooth height thing is the most important thing you want to experiment and find the balance, just at the beginning of the project. Here's Deuces' tod tutorial, http://www.sfmods.com/tutorials/terrtut/trees.html

Yeah sprinkling those ruins on mountain tops will be a pain! Here's the almost finished naval base. Got a helo base setup, without the "small airfield" callout. Just for single missions and static copters.. (or any other ideas?) And Skyros Island air base, almost enough room for Starfighters and Mirage's to take off.

Squadrons
PureBlue replied to Rambler 1-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I got it working just like that, a squadronlist.ini placed in my pilotdata folder. Maybe it doesn't like that space in the Squadron Name? -
Cat files are in your installation folder (main game folder) The one in MyDocs is the Mod folder. So what you do is, you add aircraft/missions/campaigns/stuff to your Mod folder. To make a new campaing, create it under MyDocs/Campaigns/NewCampaign and copy over the stock inis extracted from the cats. Rename as needed. Hope that helps.

Yes Cigli AB is there already, with Gaziemir airfield (which NATO has moved to I think) and the commercial Menderes Airport. There's also another training airfiled right next to Cigli, I'm debating to put it in or not. Disco Hit, I had to look up what that meant, so CC-Air HQ in Izmir uses that code. Yes for sure it will be in there, with some Nato flags and defenses, needs to be on the Friendly side though For some easter eggs, will try to come up with some funny stuff, related to your adventures down there

Cok tesekkurler Dave! I'll PM you about some details I want to add around Izmir ;) Eric, Not positive I can PM this big, it's almost 60megs. I can upload to a better host, if that will help. I'll PM details. Spillone, yes my bad, S-300 only on Crete (at 2 different spots I read), and a ready but empty site/facility on Cyprus. The ones around Athens and up north are the Patriots I think. Last nights progress: Placed another airbase built right next to the seaside, on the island of Skiros. This base is bound to get lots of action, because of its central spot. Better to try and take it out of action at the start of a campaign, if you're flying the Turks.

Yeah I had placed a few S-300 sites(Will add more to Crete, Athens..) , but according to my tests, specific SAM callouts from types.ini have a slight problem, they don't paint in the RWR. (broken after Sep2008 i think) So the last few days, I went ahead and changed them to generic SamRadar/SamLaunchers. If this is to work correctly, dates for certain objects/weapons need to be changed. I'll be documenting those as I go. Wrench, first time I'm learning about those nice places, keep mentioning. I'm taking notes, will check and borrow some.. The quays, I just had to create those, the texture is basic but for now it'll do. (Complete newbie there) Hagia Sofia, yeah right I got to add quite a few generic mosque's first.. But the ruins sound good, I'll sprinkle them all over Greece. Lots to do

Thats all communication/broadcast antennas. But still there are 4 different missile sites in a 50km radius. I'll try the bridges and the kebap shop tonight Don't know how I'm gonna get the Bosphorus, rolling hills and the bridges to look right. Still we be flying under it! Other than that, I think I might have overdone the Naval Base, you go in and it's like stirring a hornets nest. Pretty intense stuff Keep the requests coming guys, and if you want to jump in and create a target area, I'll add that to the map too
-
Yeah Kevin, that UBoat Pens are awesome! And the bridge is long enough I think. Gepard did some beautiful models, addon terrains need exploring, just learned about these.. Here's my shot at Aksaz Naval Base, HQ Southern Command. Still a WIP, needs defenses, and logistical vehicles.. Perhaps a small Helicopter pad to take off from.. I wish we had a "VERY_SMALL" airfield size for these situations..

I'm trying to model this very basic harbour layout. Created a few simple boxes and added edit mesh and uvw map modifiers. Painted on a conc3.bmp material. Exported without Decals. I have it in the game but somehow it is treated as an alpha object? Because you can see objects behind it. What am I doing wrong here, newbie with 3dsmax but this should be easy

Way to go mate! -
Hi Gabriel, I think all terrains could be used for either generations of the game. The only things necessary are a few parameter changes in the terrain_data.ini, which are the .fx callouts (shaders). I already have a small WOx compatibility folder to overwrite the needed files if you're running in the classic series. So no worries there ;) Deciding on a suitable tileset was very tough. I mean so many good looking textures out there. I had tried cooking some of my own but that was taking too long, so had to make a decision quick. Or the project wasn't going anywhere. And once you choose you can't really do a major tileset change. 4 season is great, but I thought the Summer looked too green, I had all the seasons in there first couple of months. Everytime I flew a test mission, it was a long cruise if in Autumn and the rest of them bothered me for some reason Now I bet you can still switch between seasons, I haven't tried for a while, and since I have manually placed a lot of places and coastal tiles, don't know how it would look. It was a comprimise after all, there are places on the map, that you would use the madagascar tiles (beautiful btw) or places that the coastal desert set would look good. Combining them would rock but be way much complex to tackle. Well fly it some and see for yourself, it looks pretty good and we'll see how it can be improved; I want to add a few more tiles, for small islands and sea side towns, which I can go around and manually place.. And yeah the bridges I can try to model, but I didn't get to Istanbul yet. And I'm scared to , don't want to get boged down, because the way it is, it can't look like flight simulator; A few Landmarks would look so cool, but whats my ability/capacity, this is some huge project already.. we'll see time permitting.. Yeah can't wait for your firefighting ops , I already have some of your lakes set up, go in low and scoop some up eh? Now thats gonna be awesome!
