  1. I did something like that, just staffed an area with SAMs south the bridge and set it as an armed recon mission, but it didn´t look all that good
  2. There is OTC "Operation Tainted Cigar", with a terrain for SF2 and a campaign for 1st Gen...might work with tweaks or something
  3. Habemus papam

    Habemus Napalm
  4. Habemus papam

Indeed, the praying all together thing, and the look of reluctancy, make him look like a town priest. This, together with his background as a Jesuit and the name he took, make it seem like he is going to be a good man. But who knows. I´m optimistic, but i could be wrong.
  5. Meteor explodes over Russia, hundreds reported injured

It was God taking a picture...instead of an U-2, for a change.
  6. Yeah, sure , and Alan Rickman and Jeremy Irons from Die Hard 1&3?
  7. Post random things thread

  9. Hmmm, what´s wrong with the store now? it shows no DLCs released after past summer
  10. That´s how i´m getting an honorific darwin award...if i don´t get a regular one in the near future
  11. In such situation, it is better to disengage and run, as you can evade and accelerate fast enough. If they become a threat to any friendly, use it to your advantage as rarely they are as vulnerable. Still, it is easier writing than doing. I, myself would have just kept playing. That´s why i rarely make it thru a campaign lol
  12. Low level flying is bad for the environment lol
  13. What about good war films in general?

It took me a while to find it, but i once watched this on a short films show in TV. Quite haunting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEY1s7Y7mDY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WFn96sxpSg
  14. That´s the same reason why there is not an integrated SAM network on red Iceland; there is no time to mount it with the limits of air transport it would require.. ...But now that i think about it, it would be great to be able to deploy SAM sites, specially if you can relate the deployment of such a network to the arrival of that reinforcement convoy youTannethal, included in your campaign with Cargo Ships and such, as part of the ground reinforcements. However, as far as i know, the only way to deploy SAM sites is by the terrain inis and not triggered by any campaign event
  15. Just been thinking of a "What If" 1990s Spanish Republican Air Force with Mirage 2000 and MiG-29s...squadron markings included the domino 6-6 "Seis Doble" or Popeye
  16. Another film thread

As the Pub seems very quiet lately, i think i could just go on another movie debate, this time i guess it will be :WESTERNS There are lots of them, so pick some to talk about Lately, i´ve come to like some late westerns set in the Mexican Revolution as closing the gap between the Old West and the Gangster eras, wich are, for me, part of a quite interesting flow of American History. Loved "The Professionals" and "The Wild Bunch", but didn´t quite have a try on "Fistful of Dynamite", i guess the main character being IRA kind of creeps me a bit (yeah, among all the SOBs in westerns), despite i like Sergio Leone´s films, specially, of course, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" About classics, High Noon and Rio Bravo are great. The Gary Cooper solo against the gang in High Noon is as epic as his role in Sargeant York, while Rio Grande and the relationship of the Duke and Dean Martin are allways a bump. I would rather the later, despite the ordeal of Cooper. Another couple of related films are "They Died with Their Boots On" and "Fort Apache". The first is epic, specially the last moment of Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland, i can´t help but whistle Garry Owen for a week everytime i watch it, the second is simply great just for John Wayne, the John Ford Stock Company and the whole action. However, my favourite US Cavalry film would be "Horse Soldiers", despite it may not qualify as a Western. Out of the most modern, after "Unforgiven", the few wich i really liked are "3:10 to Yuma", "True Grit" and "Appaloosa". While Yuma is not as top-great as the others, i would say it is my favourite of the three. Then are other films wich keep the western athmosphere and style while set in a quite more modern setting, such as "No country for old men" and "The way of the gun" So how do you think about Westerns?
  17. Damn coincidences. My mom, after suffering The Dirty Dozen for the 12th time last night courtesy of MGM (or TCM, not sure), came this morning to show me in a newspaper that this man died. Worth learning about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jake_McNiece
  18. Maybe Home of the Brave? Jessica Biel, Samuel L Jackson, 50 cent and this guy lloking for a job.
  19. There are CCIP based ones, not the most accurate thing, but it improved in the second generation. Other than that, there were some especific visual bomb sight mods, wich i have not tried, however
  20. I bet the triplane pilot was more pissed by loosing the aircraft than breaking his arm
  21. It is curious. Those F-4Cs were 401st TFW from Torrejon. Apparently, the unit converted to F-4E in 1970, around the time our wing at the base recieved F-4Cs to refit and replace F-104Gs. In 1973, the 401st switched to F-4Cs, then, in 1978, they where replaced by F-4Ds until 1983 when they got F-16s
