So it was. The Mirage III was the favorit in the competition for the F-86 Sabre successor of the Bundesluftwaffe. Then Lockheed salesmen had a longer, intense talk with the german minister of defence F.J.Strauß. Some decent pressure by the american embassy followed and some money was handed over in black briefcases. After this the F-104G became the plane of choice and when the background of the deal came out the Federal Republic of Germany had a first big scandal. Which came even worse when the Starfighter achieved his reputation as "Widowmaker". -

It was smaler than the F-18, cheaper and lighter. Comparable to the early F-16. -

Parked and static aircrafts
Gepard replied to ignacioc91's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
You need special static aircrafts, if you want to set them as static objects on the map. Such static aircrafts you can find here: https://combatace.com/files/category/303-static-aircraft/ If you use the normal planes then thy would "lay on the belly" if they are equipped with retractable gears. The better way is to use the airfield ini and specify there, where you want to see parked aircrafts on the airfield. -

Shortly i found an old manual from my military time. There we had a little "game" there, called "Flugzeugerkennung NATO", (airplane recon NATO). In the manual were displayed the shapes of planes from various angles, performed as shadows. We had to realize which plane was on the picture and we had to say, which type, wheter friend or foe. For me it was fun, others hated it. Lets play it again. Please tell me, what it is: Which type, which version?

MiG-29UB 9-51 Series
Gepard replied to bazillius's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Nice plane. Well done. Only one thing. The MiG-29UB was izdeliye 9-51, not 5-51. -
From the list, none. I would take the Fokker D.VIIF. It was an outstanding plane which could be flown even by mediocre pilots very well and successfully.

FW-187 Falke
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
Great plane. Thanks for the marvelouse job! -
Has someone the FW-187 Falke as WIP? Much faster and much more agile than the Bf-110 it could have been the game changer in the Battle of Britain. Some planes were built. (Less than 10) A fistfull was used in Norway and the Luftwaffe crews preferred the Falke to the Bf-110. Göring was not amused, he preferred the Messerschmitt and ordered to phase out the Falke. The planes were then used in a "private" squadron of the Focke-Wulf company to defend the Focke-Wulf plant.

Falke is hunting successfully. -
It difficult to see, wheter it is a Atlas Cheetah D, a Dassault Mirage 5 CODM, or a Kfir TC-2. The small antenna under the double seater cockpit indicates Kfir TC-2 or Cheetah D. Because i cant see an air refuel tube i guess it is the Kfir TC-2.
