Sukhoi T-50 PAK FA - first flight!
Gepard replied to Kulbit80's topic in Military and General Aviation
Stealth is not bad. And the passive american stealth sounds good. But it can be beaten as the Serbs showed when they downed a F-117 with outdated SAM systems. -
There are 3 military colors. Blue, Red, Yellow. Yellow is neutral. Blue is by NATO terms friendly, but was in WP terms enemy. Red vice versa. Bad guys and good guys. This are terms for kindergarden or the yellow press. If you ask on both sides of the frontline you will always hear "We are the good guys and the others are the bad guys." Its a question of the point of view. Better are the terms "opponent" and "enemy". But there are differences. Opponent is the guy of the other side. Who is not responsible that he is born in a different contry. There is no need to hate. In case of war the opponent becomes an enemy. The enemy wants to kill, thatswhy hate is neccessary and helpfull to overcome. When i was walking the borderline 21 years ago the westgerman or british or american soldier on the other side were an opponent. No need to hate. Its like a football game, without opponent you cant play the game. It became different in some occassions when the guys of the other side directed their weapons on me. This happend a couple of times. I looked in the barrel of a M-1 tank, saw Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS) guys aiming on me with their HK MP5. This persons were enemies. Different were british soldiers i have spoken at the line. No weapon rattle, no bad arguments, no showing of bad signs. This were opponents and an opponent can be a friend too, an enemy never.

F-16C Barak Heyl Ha Avir (IAF) for WOI
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Ups. AntBLK50IAF.lod should have been replaced by AntF-16CBarak.lod. I have forgotten to include it in the rar file. Sorry my fault!! Upload the correct file now. Thanks for finding this bug. -
Friend or foe?

Friendly fire accidents forced the USAF and USN to request optical identification of the target. So the Sparrow was nearly useless. -
F-16B Blk 5 Netz Heyl Ha Avir (IAF) for WOI
Gepard posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: F-16B Blk 5 Netz Heyl Ha Avir (IAF) for WOI File Submitter: Gepard File Submitted: 09 February 2010 File Category: F-16 Fighting Falcon / F-2A F-16B Netz Blk 5 for WOI Heyl Ha Avir (Israeli Air Force) ------------------------------------------------- I. This mod is written for WOI -------------------------------------------------------------- II. The Heyl Ha Avir was the first Air Force who used the F-16B double seater in majority not as training aircraft, but as strike plane. The israeli name of this bird is Netz what means Falcon. --------------------------------------------------------------- III. Credits: I used the F-16B_Netz.lod of TeamViper (USAFMTL, Swede,Wpnsgt etc.), added TK's original Flightmodel of the F-16A and modded it to fit the F-16B Netz data. The F-16B Netz now handles very well, take of speed at apporx 300 kph, landing speed approx 280 kph, 360° curve at 1000 meters with start speed 800 kph in 20 seconds. Differences to the original model are also, that i made the nose gear stearing and the Chaff and Flares are shooting now upward. etc pp... Unfortunatly i was unable to make the ailerons moving. I tried it and it worked well, but the flaps started sometimes to flicker. Thatswhy i removed the working ailerons again. I implemented TK's original cockpit and avionics and modded it a little bit so that the Radar screen now shows the naming of the different modes (not more 3 times AIR, but RWS,TWS,ACM,LOCK). All this parts i put together to have a israeli F-16B Netz. To say it clearly. I made only the finish. The credit of 99% of this bird belongs to team Viper and TK. The other 1% is mine. ---------------------------------------------------------------- IV. INSTALLATION 1.unzip all files into your Aircraft folder Thats it. -------------------------------------------------------------- V. THIS MOD IS FREEWARE. Runway Lengths for WW2 Airbases - small, medium and large, what is used?
Gepard replied to gregoryp's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
I solved this a little bit different. 1. All planes have in their data.ini the line: MinBaseSize=Small or MinBaseSize=Medium or MinBaseSize=Large Which defines which minimum size the aircraft needs for take of run and landing. 2. In the terrain_types.ini are the different airfields defined. For my BoB mod i set the smallest stock airfield called Runway 3 from size small to size medium. The new, smaller fighter runways i set Small 3. Then i moded all bomber planes from MinBaseSize=Small to MinBaseSize=Medium With the result, that the bombers would only start from the runway 3 airfields while fighters could use all runways. In a similar way you could create large airfields for the big bombers B-29. I think they should take of at runwaylenght 2600 meters. -

The size of the base is defined in the terrain_types.data.ini in the terrain folder (for instance desert_types.ini, or IsraelME_types.ini) [TargetType027] Name=Runway1 FullName=Runway ModelName=airfield1.lod TargetType=MEDIUM_RUNWAY <<<<<< This is the entry ActiveYear=0 TargetValue=1000 UseGroundObject=FALSE DamagePoint=140.0 ArmorValue=0.0 ArmorType=0 RepairRate=10.0 StartDetectChance=100 StartIdentifiedChance=50 IncreaseDetectChanceKey=10 MaxVisibleDist=30000.0 ZBufferOffset=6.000000 FlatObject=TRUE DamagedModel= DestroyedEffect= DestroyedModel= SecondaryChance=0 -

F-16C Barak Heyl Ha Avir (IAF) for WOI
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
A pilot in the middle can happen if you have not put the AntBLK50IAF.lod file in the aircraft folder. (Not in the F-16C folder!!!) The tail section is covered by this lod file because i wanted to have a better tail container and the typical F-16C antenna at the back. I used the fake pilot methode to place it there. If the game cant find the fake pilot file (AntBlk50IAF.lod) it will draw the stock pilot. By the way, the Brakeet (F-16D) i also reworked, and if this is finished i think i will do a rework of the over sensitive F-16B we still have for download. -
Runway Lengths for WW2 Airbases - small, medium and large, what is used?
Gepard replied to gregoryp's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
I think the longes available runway is 2600 meters long. It is used as Airfield_Büchel in my NewRunways mod. But there is no real problem. You can put shorter runways togheter. As example Lympe airfield from BoB terrain. Rasenpiste is the runway, Rasenpiste2 is the part to make it longer [TargetArea001] Name=Lympe RAF FC Position=839000.000000,611000.000000 Radius=4242.640625 ActiveYear=0 Location=1 Alignment=Friendly AirfieldDataFile=airfield_RAF.ini NumSquadrons=3 //---- SLB Mitte --- Ziel für Angriffe Target[001].Type=Rasenpiste Target[001].Offset=0.00,0.00 Target[001].Heading=0 // ---- SLB Verlängerung Target[002].Type=Rasenpiste2 Target[002].Offset=0.00,200.00 Target[002].Heading=0 Target[003].Type=Rasenpiste2 Target[003].Offset=0.00,400.00 Target[003].Heading=0 Target[004].Type=Rasenpiste2 Target[004].Offset=0.00,-200.00 Target[004].Heading=0 Target[005].Type=Rasenpiste2 Target[005].Offset=0.00,-400.00 Target[005].Heading=0 -

MiG-23BN was an export model. The soviets used the more capable MiG-27. The MiG-23MF was used in Afghnistan in the first time. Later they were replaced by MiG-23ML. -

F-16C Heyl Ha Avir (Israeli Air Force) for WOI ------------------------------------------------- I. This mod is written for WOI -------------------------------------------------------------- II. This is a mod to represent the F-16C, as it is flow by the IAF. --------------------------------------------------------------- III. I used the great F-16A_blk15-belge LOD of the Mirage Factory (thanks for the permission to use it), added TK's original flightmodel of the F-16A and modded it to fit the F-16C data, gave the flares and chaffs an other ejection direction, made the frontgear stearing etc. Then i modded TK's original cockpit and avionics in that way, that now BVR missiles are available. The Radar modi now are displayed in the radar screen (not only Air anymore, but RWS,TWS,ACM,LOCK) Then i asked Alejandro, wheter he could make a new lod file which contains antennas and a modified tail section similar to PeacePumas chilean F-16C. He made it for me, gave it a different color, so that i was able included it in the israeli bird. Finally i took Wilcos F-16 skin of the 115. Squadron, modded it a little bit. All this parts i puzzeled together to have a israeli F-16C Barak. To say it clearly: I made only the finish, only approx. 1% of the job. The other 99% are made by Mirage Factory, TK, Alejandro and Wilco. And they did a great job! ---------------------------------------------------------------- IV. About the subject "popularity" of the Starfighter in Europe: The F-104G was called "Witwenmacher" by the german pilots,"Widowmaker". And they meant their own wifes, not the wifes of the opponent. -

File Name: F-31G Wirbelwind File Submitter: Gepard File Submitted: 25 January 2010 File Category: Fictional Aircraft, Experimental and UAV's F-31G Wirbelwind for SFP1,WOE,WOV,WOI ==================================== I. This is my mod of Dels F-31A MustangII for use in the first generation sims SFP1,WOE,WOI,WOV II. I decided to make a german bird (thatswhy G for Germany), because the X-31 project was mostly financed by the germans. I also decided to make a more real life combat airplane instead of a test bird. So i switched of the Trust Vector plates and deleted a lot of ammo capabilities, reduced the thrust of the engine. Changed the afterburner emitter. Made some small changes in Flightmodel. I also choosed the F-15 cockpit which is standard in WOE and WOI. Some changes were neccessary because some features not worled properly in WOE, WOI, SFP1. III. All credits belongs to Dels who made this fantastic bird or SFP2 IV This mod is Freeware. Commercial use is NOT ALLOWED. I hope you enjoy this mod. Michael (Gepard) Made in Germany Januar 2010 below the original ReadMe file: -------------------------------------------------------- ROCKWELL/MBB F-31A MUSTANG II Ver 1.0 -------------------------------------------------------- By Dels Dated 25th January 2010 ******************************************************** MAY BE USED IAW COMBATACE FREEWARE LICENSING POLICY http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=26131 ******************************************************** DISCLAIMER ---------- This is a third party add on of the F-31A using a model and cockpit created by me. It is designed for and works in the SF2 series of games. VERSION NOTES ------------- I have created this F-31A as if it went into production and service during the 90's. So it is the F-31A (not X-31) and the skin is for the 421st TFS, 388th TFW 'Black Widows' based at Hill AFB. The X-31 had no official or un-official nickname so I gave it the name "Mustang II". If you don't like it, feel free to change the AircraftFullName= in the F-31A.ini file. The cockpit of the X-31 was a little too ancient, so I modified my F-23A cockpit for this F-31A. This is also what I would expect from an aircraft of the mid 90's. The cockpit has visible pilot legs which were loaned to me by Klavs81, so all the credit to him for those. I have taken a bit of artistic licence as not a whole lot of information was available on the aircraft. In addition to wing and centerline drop tanks, I have also included a special F-31 Dual Rail Adapter (DRA) for use with IRM's and AHM's. INSTALLATION ------------ Very simple, extract the files from the archive to your C:\Users\*NAME*\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 folder. Next, You will need to add the following to your Squadronlist.ini file which should be in your Flight AND Pilot Data folders. This is so the Unit Names show up. (*NOTE* This is not essential). Make sure the XXX is replaced with the next number in sequence in your file: [squadronXXX] Name=421FS DisplayName=421st TFS Black Widows Nation=USAF *NOTE* If you do not have a Squadronlist.ini file in your Flight folder you will need to extract it from the MissionData001.CAT file in your Flight folder using the CatPack utility. That's it. You will need Diego's MODUSAF pilot skin for the pilot, or you can use whatever skin you like by editing the F-31A_Data.ini file. REMOVAL ------- Reverse the above steps. CREDITS ------- Aircraft Model/Skins/Decals, Flare/Weapon positions, FM and Performance figures, Hangar/Loading/Loadout screens, and Lighting positions -All me!!! Cockpit Model and Skins -Also all me!!! Klavs81 - Pilot legs in the cockpit Pilot Skins - Diego THANKS ------ Thanks to all on the forum for their continuing and always useful support. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have had making it. Dels Click here to download this file

Same info i got here in Germany. The test pilots had a problem with one of the engines. To solve this problem they would have had to switch of this engine and restart. But in the case that the engine wont restart they would have had to land with a stopped propeller and this would have been interpreted as an obviously failure by the public. So the test pilots decided to let the engine run.
