Downloading WW2 Pilot
allenjb42 replied to Fatman's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Are you basically getting the checkered helmet pilot in every plane? Can you add different modern pilots to your other, non-WW2 planes? If so, then that sounds like a bug. The only thing I can suggest is that you do a fresh, fully patched, install and have another go at adding the WW2 planes and pilots. Unless anyone else has any ideas... -
Downloading WW2 Pilot

No, WOE shouldn't be a problem. I copied a Spitfire from my SFGETO instal to WOE and it was fine Here's a screenshot of my WOE Objects\Aircraft folder where you can see the Spitfire and pilot. As you can see there are lots of other poilots in there too, but the Spit flies with the right one. Here's the pilot part of the data.ini - note where the PilotModelName has to say the name of the pilot you want. // Crew----------------------------------- [Pilot] SystemType=PILOT_COCKPIT PilotModelName=PilotSpitfire Position=0.0000,-0.1218,0.6308 MinExtentPosition=-0.300,0.35,0.500 MaxExtentPosition= 0.300,-0.15,1.350 CanopyNodeName=Cockpit HasArmor=TRUE ArmorMaterial=STEEL Armor[FRONT].Thickness=1 Armor[REAR].Thickness=5 Other than that I'm a bit stumped. -
Downloading WW2 Pilot

Is this with all WW2 pilots? There are a few of them around. If you're having trouble with a particular pilot then try one of the others. And is this with all planes? Some of the WW2 planes, like those from the A Team, come with the pilot as part of the download. It's usually in a folder called crew, and you need to copy the contents of the folder to your aircraft folder. The Data.ini of those are already set up to take the appropriate pilot. I just checked the Spitfire 1A and that's the case, so that plane should show a WW2 pilot when you fly it in game. Let us know how you get on. -

Downloading WW2 Pilot

You need to go into each aircraft's data.ini and specify the pilot you want. This is from Wrench's site (and in the KB too? I haven't checked) If you haven't extracted the data.ini for the aircraft you wish to modify, do so. If already extracted, open up the **data.ini for your aircraft of choice. In the example below, we are using the F-100D -- Find the section marked crew, as below: // Crew --------------------------------------------------------- [Pilot] SystemType=PILOT_COCKPIT PilotModelName= * Position=0.00,4.15,0.88 SeatModelName=seat_f-100 SeatPosition=0.00,3.98,0.45 MinExtentPosition=-0.25,3.52,-0.30 MaxExtentPosition= 0.25,4.83, 1.09 CanopyNodeName=canopy_frame_rear_outer * = left blank in this example If your data ini does not have the line: PilotModelName= You =MUST= add it. Then, you can add the pilot figure of choice. Remember, it is case sensitive, so if it's "PILOTAF" you must use all capitals. If it's "PilotCH", you must use the upper and lower case lettering. Adding ".lod" is NOT required. -

Just the same as for planes, you download them into the Objects\Aircraft folder. -
Some of the Hinds on the way: Mi-24D Mi-24P - Early version with IR jammer behind the rotor Mi-24P - Later version with the IR jammer but also with IR suppressors fitted over the engine exhausts Also coming will be the Mi-24V (in early and later versions) Mi-25, Mi-35 and 35P (also with early and later versions). Two skins per aircraft, all interchangeable, and more skins will be uploaded seperately too. The aircraft will be available at Capun's site and the skins both here and at Capun's site.

OK, you've got a few options. 1) Go for a seperate non-Middle East Install. Download some more terrains and non Isreali or Arab planes. Then go into your Aircraft folder and delete the stock planes, and then go fly. 2) Keep your basic WOI install and just download more planes and terrains. Then you won't get the stock planes appearing so much. You can also go into your aircraft folder and make a new folder and then drag the stock planes into there so they won't appear in game at all. 3) As 2) but instead of hiding them, just download new skins for your stock planes - there are plenty available for most of them. Then go into the ini file for each plane and make the new textureset the first on the list (textureset001), and the planes will default to that texture in single missions. Keep asking if you've got problems with any of these methods. -
That rocket in the first and second pictures looks a bit like the AT-6 Spiral (9K114 Shturm) missile from this site http://www.airwar.ru/weapon/aat/shturm.html As you may know, I'm working with Capun on updating his Mi-24 to make several specific versions, includng the Mi-24V and Mi-24P. Is there any chance you could consider adapting your rocket to create the Shturm? It would also need a single launch tube that would be mounted on the Hind's endplate launch rail. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Sure, as long as it's an ENEMY country in the Nations list. And, of course, you can change FRIENDLY to ENEMY with a few keystrokes. What specifically are you trying to do? -

1)Navigate to your objects\aircraft folder. 2)Then go into the folder of the plane you want to change and open the DATA.ini file. For the plane in your screenshot it's called SHAHAK_DATA 3)If you don't see it in the Shahak folder you'll have to extract the file using the extract utility you can download from this site. 4) Once you've got the data file open all you need to do is to change the Nationame entry to the country you want, providing it's in your list of nations (which is in your Flight folder), although you may need to extract that too. -

Looks like there might be room for some Greece vs Turkey action too, or is it a bit close to the edge of the map?
