Libyan update, update
allenjb42 replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Looks great Kevin. Is this going to be a full package or an update for the existing terrain? -

I'll think we'll go for Ze'ev. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. If we get another fictional IAF aircraft/skin we'll reconvene at the IAF thread. -
The aft cargo door was removed, and the bombs were passed hand to hand down the cabin until the last man pulled the arming pin and dropped the bomb out of the door. That was for bombs up to 110lb (50kg). Larger bombs were manhandled or rolled down the cabin to be dropped out of the door, and later wooden trolleys and rails were fitted to the cabin interior to help in this. These would be for 220lb (100kg) bombs. The pilot would bank to assist in dropping the bombs, but there were no weapons sights. A dozen electric bomb racks were fitted under the wings of at least one Dak to allow the carriage of 220lb bombs.

Ian Slater http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/s/ian-slater/ Harold Coyle http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/c/harold-coyle/ Which book do you mean Eric? Harry Turtledove http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/t/harry-turtledove/ BTW could you imagine the pitch for the WorldWar series to his publishers? - 'it's kind of like The Winds of War meets Independence Day' There's some alternate WW2 stuff by William R Forstchen & Newt Gingrich http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/f/william-r-forstchen/ especially 1945, where we would get to see all of the Luft46 planes in action in a Nazi invasion of North America. But I'd better stop before I go too off-topic!

Happy Pesach Mannie. And to all the other guys out there.

I agree with all of the above. You could set say a 7 day deadline for voting on the previous month's thread(s), where you could vote in a poll on the thread but not actually add any new posts.

They're all in my Israeli Airforce thread here http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=19806 Plus lots of fictional ones too. There's still a virtual box of matzah available for the lucky person who comes up with a nickname for the fictional Israeli EF-2000, or should that be IF-2000 -
Looking for a weapon
allenjb42 replied to allenjb42's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Thanks guys. FC, I'll try the Stinger. I've already got those two missiles Kevin. What I need is the 9M114 Sturm (AT-6 Spiral) for some late model Hinds I'm helping with. The 9M120M Vikhr AT Missile in the second wepon entry has a NATO designation of AT-16 - don't know about the codename. -
Is there already in a weapons pack somewhere an AT-6 Spiral missile? I'd like the Mi-24 to have something a bit more up to date than the Swatter already available. If not, could something already available be converted to this missile. It's tube lauched, so I was thinking of and airlainched stinger if we've got one. Any suggestions guys?

A bit belated, but thanks to craigbrierley and Sundowner we have an IAF EF-2000 Eurofighter. Any ideas for an Israeli name guys? And thanks also to LloydNB for his TWO (count 'em) B-17 skins. The 1948-56 period is shaping up quite nicely. I'll update the list for these as soon as we get an Israeli name for the IAF EF-2000 (too many Fs!). (note to self: check the links to any A team aircraft and update as necessary)

E-2?

Isn't it the name and password you gave when you registered? -
I'll start with my favorite IAF F-4E picture:

Very nice. Thanks a lot. What's the consensus now on using WOI for props? I'm wondering whether to shift my IAF pre-1967 install from SFG to WOI now that the patch is out. -
Yeah, that's what I was thinking about adding the new bits, like FC did with the canards? Although we'd need some kind 3d guy to make them. But isn't the 12.7mm still going to show up on the model if you just delete it by .ini editing, so you would have two guns visible instead of just the new gun pack and a smoothed off nose?
-
NNNOOOOOO! (You mean you never backed up? - Don't let USAFMTL see you typed that!) Anyway, I'll look into it myself. I'm thinking of modding Capun's Mi-24V Hind E to an Mi-24D Hind D, the export Mi-25 Hind D and Mi-35 Hind E anyway. If someone could do the 3d work of deleting the gun and adding a fuselage gun pack we could have an Mi-24P Hind F and export Mi-35P Hind F too. And by adding IR suppresion boxes over the engine exhausts we could late model versions of all of the above. Anyone up for it?

The other two uploads of this skin are duds - there was a crash somewhere during both uploads. Please can one of the mods delete them. This is the good one. Thanks Allen -
View File Mi-24 Soviet Frontal Aviation Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam/Wings Over Europe etc Mi-24 skins readme All credit for these skins goes to their creators as detailed below. All I've done is to re-format them for SF\WOV\WOE and add a textureSet to each skin. Not all of the countries for which we have skins are included in the standard NATIONS.ini list, so I've left those as Soviet. It doesn't make any difference to the skins' appearance as there are no decals to worry about. If you have the New Nations mod that includes these missing countries then feel free to modify the relevant TextureSet. All you need to do is to extract the skin to your Objects\Aircraft\Mi-24 folder, then go fly and blow up some stuff. Thanks must go to the A Team for making the Mi-24 for SF\WOV\WOE, Tim Conrad for the original Mi-24V, and of course TK for giving us these great sims to play with. This skin is based on Mike Pearson's textures and converted with his kind permission. Enjoy, and good hunting Allen ps You can use these skins in any mods, campaigns etc, but please name check me and the original skinners in your credits as a courtesy.
