  1. Newbie here. I can now manage to touch the ground without incident. But how do I stop the plane? I always run aground. I know 'K' is the wheel breaks. But it does not help. Do I press and hold it? Is this different from the parking break switch? Anything else I should keep in mind?
  2. Is it only me or the detail settings can only be raised to 5 or 7? 3D models aside form your plane has very low polygon count. Even vehicles are just blocks. Anyway, it's an old game anyway so I'm not really complaining but I would like to know if it can be improved (talking about Falcon4 AF).
  3. Dunno about Windows 7 but Falcon AF works with my Vista machine.
  4. Great! But I seldom fly untra modern jets because stock avionics are not able to handle them. I commend the modders for crafty workarounds but they just aren't as seamless compared to specific implementation in the game engine. Cheers! Keep it up.
  5. Weapons pack should be SF2-specific. WOX series packs won't work. The structure changed on that end as well.
  6. Even 3rd party planes have to put up with this limitation. Obviously, this can't be solved by just a small plane specific add-on. This should be a game engine revision in future releases. TK indicated a price of $5 - $10 depending on the content. Anyway, TK's target market are the ones who do not like to take in the mods.
  7. Nice cotton candy there. How does it look when a plane passess through the clouds? (I kinda like the clouds in Falcon4 AF. Especially the transition effects.)
  8. Am I the only person who gets rid of the 3rd party planes from my install when ThirdWire versions become avilable? I did this to the F-8 Crusader. Used to have them loaded up in SF2 and deleted them once I had SF2V merged.
  9. I have successfully loaded some WOX campaigns on SF2 without having to edit them (red campaigns for SFP1 and WOV). Just make sure that the required planes are available.
  10. They do that in the current build. Ace Combat cockpit chatter is actually in violation of air combat doctrine. Too casual and many unnecessary talk. The reason why there's nothing groundbreaking in the remakes is that the priority is to make verything SF2 standard. Once that's done TK is thinking of bringing new planes via little add-ons (separate post on this). At least he surprised us with a major RWR upgrade in SF2E. Maybe there's another avionics surprise in SF2I. (Fingers crossed). Agree taht adding little new gameplay elements will make the game really interesting. :P
  11. Stock SF2 SF2V and SF2E merged Unlocked all models of MiG-17, 19, 21, 23 by slapping in some cockpits from Column5 (and also the trusty A-4 cockpit). Added F-5 (since it's Vietnam era anyway). Added Korean War Sabers and MiG-15 out of curiosity. I avoid Modern jets for now.
  12. TW quality pits for red planes. Now I'm drooling. Another Idea... TK taking 3rd party stuff and improve them a bit (give quality control advice) to be fully SF2 standard. Then sell them. He then gives royalties to the 3rd party modders. Pros: Less development time and resources needed. Gives modders incentive to put up some top quality work. cons: Most current mods are collaboration of several individuals and also borrowed ideas and components from existing mods. Modders become greedy and overly protective of their work.
  13. I'm ok just as long as the quality is better than 3rd party. And I hope he squeezes in a little campaign that uses the plane in addition. Now that will make the purchase more interesting.
  14. Not really the lethal sensation of getting shot but this would be fun... http://tngames.com/products
  15. Do WWI planes explode or persistently burn? I was under the impression that you only get a wreck but not a smoldering one.
  16. Hey zmatt, check their work here. http://avhistory.org/communityserver/default.aspx
  17. Alt+D to get rid of the screen info. But I'd rather keep then on for ease of play. Most campaigns won't have any counter measures for Red Planes. And WOI 1982 is quite one-sided if you fly F-15 and F-16. But the enemy does great maneuvers if you ever get into a gun fight. They also know how to go low to break your radar lock. I suggest you play earlier campaigns and fly less sophisticated planes if you want challenge. You can also install cockpits for the Arab planes so that you can fly them and go against the Israelis. Get WOE / SF2: Europe for more challenging red planes (more advanced version of Mig-23/27 with BVR capabilities). Get SFP1 or SF2 and play mercenaries for some logistics challenge (plane and weapons purchasing).
  18. Buy from NaturalPoint directly. Shipping is reasonable and fast anyway.
  19. Funny, since you're on Vista, then they should all be in your Saved Games folder. Check options.ini and see where the mods folders are in your particular installation.
  20. Yup. Since you might be talking about SF2V and not SF2, then the save game folder might be slightly different.
  21. probably one of the more affordable HOTAS I've ever seen. Looks good.
  22. Noticed lot of planes have "flat tires". Even in SF2. But not too bothered to fix it.
  23. So far so good. But since the whole hat is set up to replace the default 'home' key (next radar target), only works when I move the switch up. Moving down left and right has no function. But a work around is to use the joystick config outside the game to give different functions to each Hat switch direction so you can use really it to cycle targets back and forth (emulate 'home' and 'end' keys). Haven't tried since I'm too lazy and SF2:E is already begging for more time.
