Here are some photos to expand on VonS' excellent research and FM work. A Swedish replica builder is constructing an all-new D.8 the same way the originals were made and it will be powered by an original Siemens-Halske engine! D.8s were issued in ones and twos to front line and home defense units in the Spring of 1918. Paul Baumer, of Jasta Boelcke, obtained a D.8 in May per the Osprey pub Pfalz Scout Aces of WW1 which has a photo of two D.8s used by Jasta 29 alongside their Fokker D.7s. Myself, I tend to agree with VonS and suspect D.8s were not operational until late summer/early autumn - but I've been wrong before!

The call of the wild blue yonder...

Check out the NEW AIRCRAFT thread for VonS' atmospheric upgrades and some of my WIP aircraft. -
I built it with the understanding that Quack74 would make the skins. Unfortunately, real life got in his way and he had to give up modding.

Also, below is the VERY ROUGH Caudron R.11. I "borrowed" Stephen1918's excellent Caudron G4 files, and substituted my R.11 model for his G.4 model. Anyone interested in developing new ini files is welcome to try their hand. WIP Caudron R11.rar

While I have never tried to load Jan's seasonal tiles, I did DL them some time ago. Just took a quick look at the folders and found ALL the DL-ed seasonal files are .tod files! Dunno if this helps or not, but it suggests the problem is not your computer. -
Bummer. Your stuff looks really good, so its a shame you've run into a development wall.

I have not stayed on top of new developments, but Ankor's shaders were originally intended for CFS3 and WOFF, DL below. You can probably get more current info from the forums at the same website. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=161

Been busy with Real World stuff, but squeezed in some work on the Pfalz DIII (not DIIIa). The LODs now show up at a distance - WIP below. Pfalz DIII.rar

WIPs of the Pfalz and Nieuport are posted on the previous page. Mike Dora, VonS, and several other guys are carefully revising and testing new files for these aircraft, eliminating a lot of rough edges that have accumulated over the years. The goal is to produce a unified series of aircraft and file mods that live up to FE2's potential.

Still feeling my way with this ship stuff, but I should have a package ready for KJakker and gterl pretty soon.

A few more shots. Some were taken using DX9 and some were taken using DX11. Doesn't seem to make any difference, so I'm going to resume experimenting with SweetFX.

It takes as much time to set up the files as it does to construct the models and skin them. Mike Dora and VonS are busy fixing many subtle file problems left over from FE/FEG - these aircraft are for FE2. Meanwhile, the aircraft are available as WIPs - note the files are still rough. So I've read, and Tank Crew too! I hope they include some mod tools so we can make new ground objects?

I am not sure my experience is helpful, but I use VonS' flightengine settings, have everything set to MAX/UNLIMITED, and get the results shown below (with no weird anomalies). I suspect results may depend on your GPU as much as the game engine?

I've already posted some WIPs and upgrades in the screenshots section for Gterl's superb Italy map. His upgrade to Gepard's Vosges map is equally good, but upgrading it is a bit more complex so I'm starting a dedicated thread for it. Below are a number of WIP aircraft, plus Vosges Refinements which contains upgraded art for many elements already present in Gterl's original release. The contents of Vosges Refinements must be copied into both Gterl's WW1 Vosges folder, PLUS the GREEN folder inside the WW1 Vosges folder. Results shown below. Also included is a copy of my FLIGHT folder containing atmospheric upgrades by Panama Red, Quack74, and VonS. Click images to see hi-res versions.
