  1. I'm hoping they'll show for Christmas. While on the subject of cats, can anyone tell me what ravenclaw's F-14A/B/D mod does specifically to the Iranian F-14A model? Spiff
  2. Anybody out there getting a white triangle covering part of the attitude indicator (upper right cockpit dash)? Can't figure where it's coming from. Spiff
  3. Hello All, If I am currently running a merged install patched to OCT 2009-B, and want a stand alone setup of SF2E for NF4 and simply execute the orig web installer and point that installer to other than the default directory, what's gonna happen? Will it create my mod folder and leave the core files that are already there alone or do something else? Spiff
  4. Hello All, I was wondering what the community feels is a respectable framerate per second for Thirdwire games? I know alt-d gives you a couple of numbers to look at and I'm trying to tweak my own graphic card settings to optimize my flying experience. Spiff
  5. on CAP near Jerusalem in my Mirage III lookin for cannon fodder (I was feelin pretty good after downing 5 Hunters on the previous mission). I spotted a MIG17 and wound up in a turning fight (bad idea). I was riding the afterburner pretty hard and using way too much fuel. In my desperation to kill this guy I resorted to head-on passes, the second pass left me winchester with about 200 pounds left. I turned toward the closest friendly field, fortunately the MIG17 also bugged out but a Hunter latched on to my six. After jinking to set myself up for a turn to final, something hit me and put me out of control and on fire. Dam u Hunter! I punched out and survived (don't know how, didn't even get written up as shot down). My flight of 4 only got 1 kill, I lost 2, 1 damaged. Six missions down and the six day war goes on.
  6. Hello All, I wanted to comment on something that kinda goes along with this topic. If you're flying these sims and don't stop once in awhile (maybe during a break in the action) to check out some external views. . . you're missing out. I'm sure some people don't appreciate the little things but the modellers sure do. Show of hands now, how many people out there have taken a second to watch the speedbrake deploy on an A-7 in the 2nd gen sims SF2V or E? I'm sure there's a little time and effort expended i.e. work(how much?, I'm not a modeller). So to whoever did that, I saw it and appreciated it. P.S. They still should've caught missing aircraft skins on a merged install. Spiff
  7. Hello All, The responses were pretty much what I expected. I was having a bad day. Jarhead needs to read a little closer but Old Diego got it. That being said everyone has a line as a paying customer-mine is having the stars of the show naked (that might be good elsewhere but not for me here). I also don't know TK's working environment, staff, bills, etc. but I'll gladly pay $20 for his simming experience. I can't remember the last time I paid that for a flight sim if ever, starting with Yeager's air combat? Some might consider it a minor glitch in the grand scheme of things, I don't. As for customer service I think TK is great and I thought I got that across but the ball got dropped for me on this, because nowadays IMHO there is very little customer service. The bar just seems to get higher and higher with this modding community.
  8. Greetings ThirdWire Community, I'm in a bad mood so I'm going to rant. When I purchase ThirdWire games I expect them to work out of the box err download (and they do and I like them alot). But when you have a merged install (a selling point on the gen2 titles) and target aircraft don't have skins (a real immersion killer) that burns me. I'm not a programmer and the bleeding hearts will say it's alot of code and things are gonna slip through the cracks (OK, I'll buy that, instruments not working, gear doors in the wrong position, decals not showing, etc.) but not skins on aircraft. . . TO ME IT SCREAMS POOR QUALITY CONTROL AND I DON'T GIVE A ****! When another CUSTOMER brought this up I wish TK would have hit this one a little harder than he did (saying it would be addressed with a new installer). What I took away from the conversation was the customer bought another game to fix the issue immediately without trying to mod which is certainly the customer's option. I'm not posting this at Thirdwire because I think they are above board when it comes to customer service and supporting the flight sim/modding community; these days customer service is non-existent. I'm done.
  9. Switched to IP Board and it works. Disappears means gone completely in my case(at least until I put the pointer back on my name and then sign out and help reappear again only to start the cycle over again). I can't sign out on the CA default skin.
  10. How do you sign out? The box closes up and Sign Out and Help disappears when I put my pointer on it.
  11. Been logging alot of time with this version of the F-4, nice work. My radar targets seem to be stuck on the right side of the radar screen, no movement in relation to my nose as I turn toward or away from them. Anyone else experience this? Spiff
  12. Hello All, Would upgrading the HUD on the SF2 F-4F ICE to something more than a gun pipper be unrealistic?
  13. I just wanted to say I got the gun bay to work, I created an F111Gun folder using the data from first gen plane and then added it using the weapon editor. It wouldn't work plug and play. I also changed the specific station code from F112 to F111. I think since there is no LOD and the bay is incorporated into the model accounts for my problem.
  14. For your tweaks list if not intentional, on the G version it looks like the new afterburner node? is always on.
  15. Great plane. . .again. I've got the same thing for the AOA indicator, white squares. There are 2 files called F-18_Lights(one Bmp and one TGA) in the cockpit folder though. Also, can't remember where you adjust the roster names from, it's using USAF.
  16. Hello All, Anybody out there get the F111A gun bay to work. I didn't see any files related to it in the pack, maybe a tech issue with the new series?
  17. Hello All, With the next gen games, I have the new weps and gun editors but no cat extractor yet. If I understand what I've read, I should'nt need a cat extractor to add new SF2 aircraft, basically you're just adding them to the same folders, just in a different location. Now for adding weps I'm going to need access to the wepsdata.ini so I'll need a cat extractor. Are those accurate statements? Second, does SF2E come with a pack of canned single missions that you can choose from? Thanks.
  18. Yes I did thanks. I thought maybe it was something with the USAF entry in the nations list but I get the same results for USN fighters so I dunno.
  19. Always liked the T-38, the new model looks good in KillerBees pic.
  20. Hello All, I've just added planes and added entries to the nations list. With the stallmoment=-0.50 fix they fly pretty well. My problem is when I fly U.S. birds I immediately get the mission complete call and no enemies in game; not so in reverse, the mustangs are there to pounce. Can't figure out why?
  21. I'd make sure all the ShowFromCockpit lines say TRUE. I'm using the B-52H late and it works. Try using these numbers as a starting point in the cockpit data initial. Under [cockpitseat001]: Offset=0.0,-0.075,0.0 Position=-0.633,16.1,1.6
  22. Hello All, I'm trying to add the F-5C cockpit to the BAE Hawk, that's not too hard. Now I want to eliminate one set of engine gauges but it appears to be using the same bmp for both. Do you have to access the cockpit lod to be able to accomplish this?
  23. Thanks Crusader, will give it a try.
  24. Hello All, I'm trying to extend the bottom viewing area of the HUD. I want to be able to see the flight path marker at a higher angle of attack instead of it disappearing from view. I changed some numbers in some initial files with no luck, any ideas. Is there an easy data initial entry to change?
