preciate the update Ceasar. knew you weren't gone, but just hadnt heard much outta you. of course Uncle Sam has the tendency to keep one VERY busy or Very bored. notice more capitals on the very for busy. as for the nose stripes, are you doing them on the skin or as tga? if tga, i've danced it around the Phantom's schnoz before, could take a look at it for the Tomcat. for ALCON, would a Herc escape and evade count in here? think i remember about a crew in Vietnam that got a manuever kill after getting chased up North thru the mountains. -

Did the C-Eagle ever used the dark scheme of the Strike Eagle?
daddyairplanes replied to Stratos's topic in Military and General Aviation
as i recall, the middle scheme served as a basis for the Mod Eagle. from Aerofax's book on the Eagle, had it years (and many moves) ago -
the second Gerald Ford class is supposed to be named Enterprise.

Did the C-Eagle ever used the dark scheme of the Strike Eagle?
daddyairplanes replied to Stratos's topic in Military and General Aviation
too my knowledge, one did, along with two others in other schemes. they were used to choose the final scheme for the Strike Eagle. -

Well the main aspect of the -14 and -15 was to kill em at a distance. Tech and doctrine had caught up to make bvr a reality, not a pipedream like vietnam. A quote by an eagle driver i recall went something to the tune of "sure i can beat anyone in a phonebooth. But if we let them grt that close somebody seriously f ked up..." Modification of the request for a historically plausible scenario...... F-14A v Multiple Mig-17/21. VF-1 and -2 were on westpac snd on Dixie Station during April 1975. While the CAP was not hassled IRL........ -
Proper Carrier Air Wing Tail Codes for SF2V Aircraft?
daddyairplanes replied to bigstone's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
bigstone, here is a reference that may help you with the vietnam airwings. it has helped me match up everything for BEELINE Phantoms (N and S). but it goes for the whole fleet from the current systems intro in 1961 until around 1994. eburger, i didn't mean any offense. we just have a difference of opinions on how to skin that particular cat. and while skins size is actually pretty low, the decal folders pad the size back up quite abit. and i've seen the fun of maintaining just with my little mods, i can only imagine the fun you have with the big installs -

could look at Mescalero Range terrain or Piecemeal's Desert terrains. they have parked Herks and Chinooks on there, the hercs as airfield targets. to throw out a future question, anyway to get the engine to pop one specific nation in a specific parking spot (say airliners)? some possibilities in the future where i might have need of parking jumbos at civilian airports in Germany and Dhimar...... -

Keep the era in mind also. Towards the mid 60s up some of those nat metal finishes were painted silver laquer for corrosion control. Thuds come to mind, many Starlifters got it after regular flights to Vietnam, and even the F-102 had a one off in silver paint st Ogden. To all others, i also thank you for the tips. Said Starlifter is in my todo pile, as well as wanting to make some nat metal airliner skins (Eastern, American and Condor) Keep the era in mind also. Proper Carrier Air Wing Tail Codes for SF2V Aircraft?
daddyairplanes replied to bigstone's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Way that i handled a similar issue with the F-4N encompassed several of the above techniques. I made a universal skin (bitmaps and jpegs in the main aircraft foldr rather than skin folder), then made skins for the units and years. But those folders mostly are just texture and decal ini. Also as above i have a very expanded squadronlist.ini to incorporate all units. If you have the DLC F-4N take a look at the skinset for it. Otherwise take a look at the updated Storm F-4N in the d/l section. Either will show what i'm talking about for the aircraft end. Would be awesome if you're thinking bout workin more units into game, esp the Nam era birds. My interest tends more to post Nam although the "correct for one deployment" markings bug me there too. Eric, the multiple skin bit fixes the many entries for one unit. But there are several units missing in the stock squadronlist as well (tho not as many missing in mine) -

Best rollercoaster ride you don't have to pay for. Landings at Skopje, Balad AB and Kandahar Airfield using the Sarajevo drop. Several hundred feet altitude in seconds, then your stomach catches up with you a few seconds after landing. -

FRP...... a million thank you's! while carriers are about hte most proliferate ships in the download section, a free Midway class has been sorely missing from here. looking forward to the release. gotta get the rest of the airwing set for Rosie's last cruise now (F-4Ns are already skinned for that) -

XP to Win 8?
daddyairplanes replied to gn728's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
um yes most defineatly since Gen 2 series is made for Vista and above. IMHO get Win7 if at all possible but that is more not personally liking to deal with 8. i know some will chime in agreeing on that and some will strongly disagree. back to main point..... yes it will work better. -
