Jasta 1, mid-1918... will put you in the Northern Flanders area flanked by Jasta 2, Seafrosta II, and quite a few tangles with RFC22 56 and 40. I lasted a few weeks, but got sniped by an SE5a from 22 that snuck up behind me at close range. I was too busy giving his sqaudie the business... and never saw the wingman behind me. Great tactics by the AI! OvS

;) What's funny is my wife knows it's coming. She can see it in me when I am around the small planes. I learned a lot working on the Jumbos, and now restoring an old car. I learned that I am a mechanic, not a button pusher, or pencil whipper. There is a huge difference. With that in mind, and my A&P in hand, my hope is that I can score an old 150 someday, when I move out of Long Island, fix it up and start lessons, take care of the 150... maybe own enough land to clear a grass runway, make my own little Private setup ... then move up to the 172 Float plane and look to put in on a lake nearby... like live in Kentucky, or Tennesse... something like that. That's my idea of retirement... back to the roots of aviation when it was fun. I used to wash Pipers and Cessnas at Republic Airport when I was a kid.... back then (in the late 70's and early 80's) there was this really small airfield called Zahn's Airport very close to my house. I loved that place, but they shut it down as they did many of the small grass fields in Long Island.... you know.. because we need more houses here... as if. The finer aspect of aviation is the grass field and the small plane. The bigger the plane, the bigger the runway, the further you get from aviation and what it's really all about. Ask ANY Commercial pilot, believe me, I've had many a conversation about it. They all say the same thing... I miss my Cessna. OvS

Sure, please don't hesitate to ask a lot of questions. We're here for you to ask and will be happy to do so. I like the look of the scenery, well tree'd and look very realistic. Keep us informed now and then on the progress, some of us here like to fly Jets as well. What is COJ? Either way, it looks really good. The animations are a bit stiff as has been pointed out already. What engine does BIA:HH use? That has to be the finest looking FPS I have ever played. If it were any more realisitc, I might as well have been there. Sucks that it is scripted, but the action and tactics it provides far outweigh it. OvS

Good to hear about the PPL. I hope you get it soon. I never went for mine, and sorry I didn't. All my buddies at school (Riddle) were pilots and FI's, so I should have done it then. I was the only A&P in the group, so I was always asked to go alone as insurance in case something happened... as if I could do anything other than scream my head off if we were in an uncontrolled stall.... go figure. But I'm sure you must have FSX? It's fantastic, and about as accurate a flight simulator will ever get on a home PC. It's better than anything we had at Riddle back in the 90's. All the best! OvS

I don't think anyone lives in the RoF version of France. I don't see any houses. Looks pretty barren. Is there a setting to add more scenery, like FSX has?

As I said in our emails... I'm going to pass. I can spend that same $50 on parts for my Nova. OFF:BHaH has everything I need as a player. As a German flier, my choices are Fokker D.VII, and what... Albatros D.Va? No D.III, no OAW D.III (better than D.Va), no Pfalz, Dr.1... E.V... nothing. I HATE the Ni 28, and don't find the advantages to the Spad XIII in a winning favor... Boom.. zoom... Boom zoom.. Ho-hum. As much as I have collected every other WWI flight sim dating back to 'Wings' and 'Blue Max', this is one that I just have to pass on... not enough content to consider it a true WWI simulator. OvS

Sorry I confused you Kelly... All I have mentioned is accessed in the Layer properties. Make sure you have the 'Layer' window enabled. In it you will see a box says 'Normal'. From there you can click the pull-down menu and there will be a ton of other options to use. All of these are used regularly by many skinners to create different effects. Color Dodge and Color Burn are very good tools. Try them. Here's what I mean...

Here's how I approach this...with PS CS12 1. Highlight the area with the polygon lasso (the one you can click and draw straight lines with) 2. Copy that section 3. Create a new box and color it to the desired color. The box will automatically be the correct size for you based on what you just selected to copy. 4. Paste the new section in there. 5. Desaturate it of all color so that it gray. 6. Now adjust the level of contrast and brightness of the part 7. Select it as Hard light, then try soft light, then overlay.. or color burn... experiment with it. 8. Adjust the opacity of the part until it looks like details and the proper color. You may have to adjust the color you chose as well. 9. Once you are happy with the effect, merge the layers and use the part. OvS 4.

I think Shred has something like this in English, as he was sending me some really great shots of many Jasta 12 Albs when I was skinning them. Hence many of the Jasta 12 Alb D.III's are historically correct. You'd have to ask him where he got the pics from, but they were very good. Those and some from Jasta 14 as well. Very helpful. Anyhow if you guys buy these books, pass on any info we can use to improve skins, placement... etc..etc. Thanks! OvS
