  1. Gents, these are great!! Do you print them from the JPG files you posted, or do you have them saved as PDF files? I'd like to place these somewhere, maybe in a new thread here and make it a sticky. OvS
  2. Please by all means... use them. His stuff is very good and OBD Approved.
  3. Yes... avoid them... period. I shot down 2 of them 2 nights ago, last night, they kicked our butts and I died. I hate them. I actually get depressed when I see them as I know I am going to die.
  4. A nice Flash animation with a few different maneuvers to learn: http://www.geocities.com/ww1fighters/media/maneuver.htm
  5. Please feel free to create and add more! Homeboy's Hammerhead and Wingover
  6. That is a pretty cool idea!
  7. Oh God... here we go AGAIN!!!! From the Summary of posted report... as well as I have seen the Nova special on this and I agree 100%... Popkin deserves the credit for the kill, which means, MvR never lost a fight he engaged. "SUMMARY The Official post mortem examination report is, in all probability, flawed and it is most likely that the bullet track was along a line joining the entrance and exit wounds. In other words the bullet came from behind, below and lateral to von Richthofen. There is little doubt that the bullet penetrated his heart and was fatal. Neither Captain Brown nor Gunner Buie could have inflicted such a wound. The only known gunner that could have done so was Sergeant Popkin when he opened fire for the second time when Richthofen was turning away from him. Richthofen then lost control of his aeroplane and crashed, he was dead when his aeroplane hit the ground. From the evidence of the postmortem examination and from eyewitnesses it was therefore most probably Sergeant Popkin who fired the fatal shot, although a lucky shot from an unknown soldier firing his rifle can not be excluded. 8. UNCONFIRMED!! OvS PS... yes, MvR will die on his assigned date of 22 April 18. We debated this back and forth and decided it was best to let history rule over personal accomplishments. It's better that way... so you took him down, but did not kill him. He'll be back again, until he dies on his date.
  9. Brothers Richthofen taken down by Camels? HA! Manny was taken by 2 things... disregard for his own rules (and that of his mentor's).... and an Aussie MG. Which means he never lost a dogfight. A Camel? It's only as good as the turns it makes... other than that... it's open season. Can't climb, can't dive (slow), can't outrun... but it can turn. Using proper B/Z techniques gets you plenty of Camels on your kill list. OvS
  10. I just read this on CNN.com and it's looking promising that hopefully many of these boys will be identified and families will finally have a place to go to morn their loss. http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/0...wone/index.html OvS
  11. Jim... you need therapy... really... you do. Might I suggest a few doctors.... Dr. J. Daniels Dr. J. Beam Dr. G. Dickel and my personal favorite - Dr. J.W. Black Really, any one of the above will help tremendously with your problem, and the medication they perscribe helps sooth most nerve issues and such. All the best, OvS
  12. The only true comparison I can make is my bike. I road with a shortie (or a 'Brain-bucket as they are called) and no windscreen. So it was all hitting my face. It was fairly quiet until I turned my head, then it rumbled like hell. All I could really hear was my own pipes. But I could hear the turbulence of the wind over my ears. I expect in a biplane that when the engine is off, you'll hear a good robust 70+ MPH wind through the wires, but with the windscreen to deflect it, it would only be as loud as that. As we work each plane, we'll be looking into to is as Winder said. All the best, OvS
  13. We're working on this for the next phase, or an add-on. I've tuned the rotary and added in background wind louder than it was before, testing it solely on the new Fokker E.V. It's better, but needs more work. I know what you mean about riding, also imagine that the pipes were behind you. I had drag pipes on my Magna, which is a 4-banger. It was as loud as a NASCAR, and all I could hear were the pipes. But some bikes that are quieter you can hear the wind. It all depends a where the pipes are. Most German crates using the Mercedes engine have them right in front of you. I will speak with Winder and see about adding in more cockpit effects. It can be done, but I don't want to go too crazy as you wouldn't hear them with an engine roaring in front of you anyway. ;) OvS
  14. WOW!! It's been that long... Jeeze... time flies.
  15. Hi Ace, I'll help here, and try to be as unbiased as possible. 1. A: Not just eye candy, there is more to RoF, and the DM has a lot of damage to it. 2. A: OFF is a Campaign based Simulation. It's sole purpose was to mimic WWI as close as possible, with room to grow. It's chocked full of history, action, atmosphere, and everything else we could fit into the package to give the user the best look of what WWI could have been like in the air. 3: A: Yes, at present, 35 (?), and more to come in the future. All planes in OFF are flyable, even the 2-seaters. Plus you can fly a campaign and career as a 2-Seater pilot. 4: A: Cheaper depends on what cheaper means. More value, less price, less investment? Refer to the respective websites to learn what you get for your money. Also consider SUPPORT.. 5. A: Correct. But apparently, RoF will run without internet once started. Check with RoF's staff/forum for more info. 6. A: TOTALLY DYNAMIC. Every mission is a whole new experience, every career is different, every day is different. BUT, we left the end results the same, Germany still looses. No sense in changing history. We're not Gods. 7. A: Yes, but Phase 4 is a long way from now. And we hope with an all new look. But Phase 3 will keep you wrapped up for many months, maybe years to come. If you like RB3D, get ready for your old favorite on some very serious steriods. 8. A: We're not sure. Since Win7 is not offical, we can't say officially. Some have tested it on the Beta of Win7 with success. So we'll consider it good for now. When M$ releases the new O/S for public use, then we'll see. 9. You should... but make sure all drivers are up to date, and tweak the settings as per the 'Tips and Tricks' thread in the Knowledge Base for more help. Also, you can adjust the sliders to fit the use. Even toned down, OFF still looks fantastic! So don't think for a second that if you set the details for 'medium' it will loose face... hell no... it's as awesome at 2 as it is at 5. I hope that helps... OvS
  16. Thanks for these Steve... we can always use more historic info. I saved them and I'm sure Shred will pop in and grab them as well. OvS
  17. Hello Carrick, Welcome to the OFF:BHaH forum, and we're happy to hear your seeing what we call 'total immersion', one of the top aspects of OFF. You never know what you're going to see, and every mission is different. Even if you come out of Campaign mode, and right back in.. it's a whole new mission. All the best, OvS PS... it's 'AA' fire, or Anti-Aircraft (Ack-Ack). AAA is the Automobile Club of America.
  18. Sweet! Good luck Cappy!
  19. Olham... same for Boistrancourt.... it's almost identical to the way it was in 1915-1918... even the Sugar Factory is still there and running. If there is one thing I respect about non-capitalist countries, is they know how to preserve countriside. Unlike us here in the States... we build over everything... including Civil War Battlefields, just so some overpaid idiot can have a new McMansion. OvS
  20. Yeah.... and then the ladies meet the real guy down below... called a Mechanic... PS.. you guys can "Pull G's" all day... we can see in the dark with our hands. Beat that with the ladies.
  21. Staged... ask her what was the USAS or USAAF... see what she replies with.
  22. Winder is spot on. There is no bias in OFF, in fact, as he already pointed out, I am always reminding him about how important the Huns are, so it's a very even balance and he's done a superior job in keeping it that way. Even us introducing the the E.V gave way to the idea of balancing it with the Snipe. If one get one, the other has to. As far as the squadrons... it's a known fact that the Entente flew with more pilots and planes, that were less skillful as the Huns. The Huns flew in smaller packs (Kettes) but used superior tactics and advantages when they had them. As the war raged on though, the Huns became more defensive in nature and less agressive. So I feel the missions are correct. I should expect to see a lot more Entente when I fly as a Hun... but now and then, I should still see a large grouping of Huns now and then, especially when the JG's were formed. OvS PS... Eventhough I approach all assigned skinning jobs the same, I wear a specific t-shirt/baseball hat combo that says 'Huns Rule!' whenever I am skinning Hun planes.
  23. Considering I work for a major international carrier, and I am a licensed commercial aircraft mechanic.... I nearly pissed my pants!!! That was the BEST one yet! AirHitler! That was fantastic. Who wants to fly to JFK anyway! Awesome and very well thought! Thanks for making a really good one. Some of these are terrible. What did you use to make the subtitles? OvS
  24. Shortly after BOB was released, at the time, I was doing some research on my Uncle Biaggio's 82nd Airborne campaings during the '2' (as he called WWII). The more I spoke to him and got in touch with a lot of his old war buddies, the more emotional and deeper each story became. I had 1 relative that was in WWI, 10 in the '2', 3 in Korea (my Dad), 2 in Nam, and 1 that was in the First Gulf War. So saying I am from a wholly Military family is an understatement. But most intreaging was having the pleasure of talking with my Uncle Biaggio, as the rest from WWII are dead, aside from my Uncle Angelo. He was stationed in Burma, and opertated with a unit in the USAF, supplying troops in the jungles on China. His escort squadron was non-other then the Flying Tigers. So he's quite an interesting story teller. ;) As for my Unlce Biaggio... talking with him was an experience in itself. Hearing him tell me of 'the drop' and the heavy action he incurred shortly after that was a real eye-opener. But seeing simialr action payed out on the screen in such detail during BOB helped me to truly understand the hell these men went through, and the intese sacrafices they endured on foreign soil, far from home, and not having single sense of what else to do other than stick together, support each other and stay alive. Two quotes from my Uncle that will forever stick with me.... Number 1: Landing in Normandy. Q: OK, Unk, so after the long trip down through all the tracers, and flak.. you hit the ground, drop the chute, duck down... what's the first thing that popped into your mind. A: Well.. all I could think of was... "what the F*#K am I doing here?!?!" Number 2: Normandy, first sitting of a Tiger tank. Q: Wow, a Tiger? What did it look like to you? Had you ever seen one before? A: No, we were only told that they were big. Big was wrong, it was f'n massive. The biggest machine I've ever seen. Scared the hell out of us. Q: So you rasied up the bazooka, and fired it at the Tiger, it bounced off, no damage. Then what? A: I turned to my CO, and said: "OK, now what?" As you can see... sarcasim runs deep in my family. OvS
  25. Creaghorn, Just post where the file needs to go as many users will not know where to post it. Also... stop changing your avatar!!! I liked the one of you standing in color the best. It has a certain animated character to it, like you were surveying the runners on 1 and 2, with 2 out in the bottom of the 8th, and the relief pitcher behind in a 2-2 squeeze, looking to hold a 3-2 win.
