  1. Now and then I cheat and turn on the Tactical display, press <tab> until a bogey is lit, then F4 until I see what it is. When I played RB3D MMP, it was the ONLY way to stay alive. OFF is so close to MMP that I find it useful as well. OvS
  2. Count me in for OFF's corner. I'll be happy to help. OvS
  3. The RAF Museum was fantastic! I went there about 10 years ago and remember it vividly. The Spitfire wreckage in the sand was really cool... and coming face-to-face with an Me110 and Ju-87 was in itself an experience. The WWI section was top notch, and it's nice to see they added the Fe2b painted as a Night Bomber. Great stuff, thanks for the pics! OvS
  4. Sure, Count me in. I'll speak with Winder and Pol, and possibly use this avenue for news to get out to the public. We want everyone to know about us, our product and the people of the OFF Community. I'd be happy to write a small article every month on what's going on (that we're OK with telling the public), and how things are going. We have a lot of downloads available from the community that I think many folks are not aware of... maps, key mapping layout.... etc. Thanks for asking... OvS
  5. Great stuff and it's much appreciated. Please continue, this is a valuable resource for all OFF'ers and even us Devs as well. :) OvS
  6. I need to let this one go out of the Sticky, I'm running out of room. Sorry guys, it's a good one, but I am replacing it with a thread more relative to OFF. OvS
  7. Hey... who's fault was it to show up in RED and stand straight lines across open fields?!?! Just kidding... all the best, and thanks... thanks to my wife's cousin, I was totally ossified last night while we stood on the top of their Grandmother's 3 story row house in Brooklyn watching the fireworks over Manhattan... curse that SOB!!! I'm totally hung-over!!! OvS
  8. OK, I'll bite... what the hell is that thing? A car or a motorcycle with 4 wheels?!?!
  9. Isle of Man was my favorite track... I got halfway decent with it... but never good enough to win a race. To me, getting around any track in GPL witout crashing was a major achievement! I loved that movie just for the 'finding a '67 GP Racecar.. and no one is around'... that's classic!
  10. You guys mean this one... Awesome game when modded... Hard to drive though OvS
  11. I don't remember the reason why we did it that way, but I can tell you it's supposed to be that way. Maybe Winder or Pol can give tell you why the folder is placed there. PS.. so ... did you think you could just pop in here and post a quickie without anyone noticing that you've been gone for a while? Nice to see you back around. Hope all is well. OvS
  12. Ohlam... I think those wing frames look more like the Pfalz shape to me... what do you think? Love the factory pic! OvS
  13. I just updated mine... use the Zilly... then all we need is Mutley, and Klunk... and someone to use the Yankee-Doodle Pigeon, and we're really having fun with this! OvS
  14. We lost Davee as well.. anyone seen him?
  15. WOW! You got three? I have yet to get one of those damn things. It's the only plane I want to run from no matter what Alb I am in. I hate them! OvS
  16. Put the other one back... you look like you just hatched from an egg in that photo. Better yet....
  17. WOW! I like that one. That's cool looking! Like a Court Jester!
  18. I don't agree... it's a blast! In fact, I enjoy it more than I did RB3D MMP. That to me was more stress and aggravation. All I do is laugh my balls off with these guys... and I rack up some pretty nice kills to boot. It's all about fun, not how much hair I pull out... OvS
  19. Broadside, Welcome to the OFF Community. We always enjoy a new face and a new player to the ranks. :) I'm one of the Devs, and have been with the team for almost 4 years now. I can say with great confidence, that this is the best WWI sim since RB3D, and in many aspects, surpases it beyond anything anyone thought it could. I play OFF much like you do, since we are all spread out all over the globe, most of us on the Dev team had no idea what the game was going to look like other than seeing our completed skins in screenshots. So when we were all sent the beta to test, it blew us away. With that in mind, I also played RB3D MMP for a while. OFF does not offer the Massive MP player campaigns that RB3D could run, BUT the missions that we fly are a lot of fun. What I didn't like about RB3D was the fact that you were flying against a lot of very good players, and for a newbies, it was very difficult to build any confidence, or experience if you were constantly shot down. OFF's MP is fun as most of the time we fly together, and the AI is comperable. If you make mistakes, they'll get you, but if you keep tight, and aware, most of the time you'll do fine. Now and then we fly against each other, and then you can test your skills. Which brings me to this point. Yes, OFF is harder than you might expect at first. The AI in Single Player is VERY good and looks for advantages all the time. They fly like WWI pilots should, not like many other games have in the past. They fly as if you are really flying against another human. So at first, you will die a lot... we all do... us included. BUT... what's great about OFF is that you actually can learn and apply the very tactics that WWI pilots did to survive.. and they work! It's a deep game that has a tremendous amount of history, and atmosphere. If you've ever want to learn about WWI, OFF will actually help you in some aspects. We have battle maps with detailed information based on actual historic fact. We have named all units correctly from the British, to the French, to the Germans. All are using the proper verbage as they did in WWI. I can go on... but truthfully, for $29.99... you are getting a oneway ticket into the world of WWI. I say oneway because once you start playing, and getting to know the guys on the forum, I don't think you'll want to walk away. So come join us, get on board, we'll be here for you and happy to get you going! All the best, OvS
  20. Personal Fav...
  21. About once a month (less in the summer) they hose off one of these loosers from the guard railing on the LIE (Long Island Expressway). What irks me is that you're riding along with your family in your car or Minivan, your little pumkin spills something, or drops her toy, and you reach back to pick it up, still looking forward, however, the vehicle drifts a little (we've all done it)... and one of these POS's comes blasting through the back of the vechicle at well over 150MPH, killing your little pumkin, your wife and himself.... just so he can get his 'rocks' off on speed. OvS
  22. Another aspect I learned about how good a job he did was that when I started skinning the Fokker D.VIIF in lozenge, I never really saw my skins in RB3D blend into the surrounding colors. I looked at the scenery, and thought, well, the Lozenge is a bit loud, how the hell is this supposed to camoflage anything. Once I took my finsihed skin for a flight, I chose Autum, which the default D.VIIF is Lozenge colored for... and the damn plane disappeard over the trees! I'd never seen that happen in any RB3D mod. They always stood out against the terrian. But Winders colors were dead on! When I started playing with Makai's spring/summer wings over the OFF seasons, I got the same effect. It was fantastic! So I knew we nailed it. It's the right blend of scenery verses aircraft color. Even the Albatros mauve blends really well over his scenery. OvS
  23. Are you kidding... did you think we were going to stop?
  24. What I really like the most about the scenery Winder did it the feel that it grabs my imagination. I can buzz a French farmers house, I can fly between the trees that break into an open meadow, pulling up just before I hit the treeline of a forrest. When my plane is shot-up... I can LOOK for a place to ditch...and select one that fits my need. Not just settle on something that is barren without regard to hitting anything else. I feel like I have to really judge the size of the field... will I make it? It is sloped? Are there any stray trees? I don't care if the rivers do not reflect, or if the ocean is not moving... the rest of it over-rides the small negatives. I used to get the same feeling from Rabu's scenery in RB3D... most important... It doesn't look a tad bit repetitive at all! I've never seen that in any other Flight Sim.... even M$'s efforts... you usually can pick out the repetition in the scenery tiles. Not OFF. Great job Winder! OvS
  25. I flew in one on a trip to Alaska. It was based out of Anchorage and took us on a Glacier tour, then dropped down in a Lake near a nice island where we hand lunch.... back when my wife and I were DINKs (dual income - no kids)... and I LOVED it! I looked like a Lab in an old car... window open, tongue hanging out. The landing and take-offs were fantastic! He asked if I wanted to fly in the Beaver, or the 206... the Beaver was really cool, and maybe I should have opted for it.. but I love Cessna Seaplanes... so the 206 it was. Ever since then, I always wanted one. :) As for the tube and fabric, I like 'em, but not sure I want to fly them. ;) I like the 150's and 152's for the little stuff. I think it's the strength of the tricycle gear that I like. I also like the simple Piper Warriors and Cherokees as well. I have a buddy of mine, Scot Gerber who owns and regularly flies in shows, an Extra 300 based out of Brookhaven, LI. It's an awesome airplane that if I could fly I would... but never as a passenger. Anyhow... someday.... OvS PS... Olham... Yes... that's the place! Good old Zahn's! You know... Long Island was pretty much the birthplace of Aviation in the United States, from there it panned out all over the US. We had Sperry, Fairchild, Republic, Grumman, and fledgling Northrup at the time... as well as Lindburgh's flight, a ton of small dromes... testing grounds out at Calverton... tons and tons of aviation and NASA stuff! All gone. It's sad really.
