  1. ...yes, although I keep forgetting about it...
  2. Heh, yeah! I'm on hiatus as I wait for a part to fix the toe break on my rudder pedals, so they are all pulled apart. I was hoping someone would jump on my campaigns/missions thread but...not...yet...
  3. Alright, Ladies (???) and Gentlemen, After consulting the data, it has come to my attention that I must hereby certify that: Baldric is the winner! In a surprisingly lethal affair, 2nd Lt. Archibald Turner managed to win by one point! In fact, the upper echelons of the scoring bracket were very close, as you can see above, with the top three finishers being separated by only four points! Interestingly, 22 missions is apparently not enough for anyone to be promoted under the new version, so that may have to be changed going forward for any other challenges. I would also like to say that aside from eating it (yet again), I was thrilled at the turnout and quality of reporting as we celebrate the newest version of this storied flight simulator! So let's hear it for Baldric! I will be contacting you through pm about your prize and I will leave it to you and Louvert to discuss your custom paint job. " And for a brief moment, Gordo Cooper Archibald Turner became the greatest pilot anyone had ever seen." Thank you to all participants, I hope you had as much fun as I did and see you in the skies! (Or stuck in a tree as the case may be!) RR
  4. Nice, jerhear! I actually just started my first American career in a couple of actual years! Unfortunately, the video is going to go in a different thread as you will see when I get a chance to post it...
  5. Excellent work, HarryH! Alright, everyone: please fill out the Challenge Form one more time and I will look at it tomorrow evening to determine the final scores. Remember, you must be present to win, all sales are final, no purchase necessary, enter as often as you like!
  6. 1. Yes, but only because two of them has the courtesy to collide with each other! 2. Yes! There is a thread like this on the other board, I thought it would be nice to start one here, so please like and support this thread!
  7. Thought this was going to be one of the shortest careers ever! Rother Nought C Sqn 1 Wing RNAS B flight July 07, 1916 Sent up alone (!!!) to guide the two strutters, who immediately left me behind. I spotted a flight of four unknows out over the lines so I swung back around to observe them from relative safety. That was when four huns that had been patrolling up north on our side of the lines decided to dive down and attack me: As I was headed home after the fight with no ammo left, you can see the two strutters come over at the end there; "Oh sorry, did you need any help?"
  8. Got a fun mission or campaign going? Tell us about it here! Pics/Vids are great, but plain old reports are too! I have a bunch of standard pilots that I run and have been since way back in Red Baron 1 when I was in college. Rother Nought is my standard RNAS guy who takes the Sopwith path through the war (or as far as he gets!) My first attempt with him ended in a shredded N11 wing, so here is try #2! Rother Nought C Sqn 1 Wing RNAS B flight Today we went up in support of the Strutters, which is absurd as they are much faster than us and always leave us behind. Anyway, Cleaver and I made our way to the front and tried to clear the area where the Sopwiths would be artillery spotting. I spied a brace of Eindeckers below us trying to come up to our level and moved to stay above them so we could strike if they got too close. This seemed a good idea until I noticed three more of the blighters to the south, at our level! Matters were made worse when the Sopwith decided to attack them instead of retreating! We immediately moved to intervene: I got credit for one of them with the pilot apparently killed, but the one I drove down with a dead engine the boys on the ground insisted on getting credit for, even though he was a glider long before he got down to where they can hit anything! Unfortunately, we lost Cleaver in the melee and one of the strutters was forced down with the observer, a kid named Thompson, killed. We need faster planes! Or the strutters need to stick to the plan!
  9. That is a lot to expect from the dead!
  10. That came out really nice! And thanks to all the people who educated me and contributed to that thread. I do plan to port it over here, I am just waiting until I get editing privileges, as a it's going to be quite a haul to get all of the juicy tips and pictures that some of the top skinners have contributed over the years.
  11. That's a possibility and a good point!
  12. Darn it! That's always how it happens: just like that. It was an excellent run though! *edit: You were already at a pretty low altitude?
  13. Here's some additional... ... "research"... VonS, where did you say that mod was?
  14. Yay! Somebody made it! Having said that... you were supposed to skip two in-game days between missions! So that makes your time way short! Don't worry about it now, but when you enter your time, multiply your days survived times three and the divide by 4 to get the weeks, rounding up!
  15. Thanks, I don't know what resolution you are working with, but I switched to a 1440p monitor and it seems to have made a big difference in being able to track targets, beyond the use of dots.
  16. catch: understood. If I was doing a personal campaign, I would probably have rerun that one if nothing else seemed off, but that was the right choice for the challenge. mandrews_2: yes, it should be campaign weeks in game time rounded up, but it's not very scientific! Also, long wound times can extend campaign weeks a lot, I made it quite far into January.
  17. *sniffle* It's always the ones that die that go first! Sorry to hear it, Lou and catch! catch, I am still not sure what happened after watching the video. You hadn't been hit because you encountered no one, right? That was terrible luck! This is proving harder than I thought! If we can't pull this off in an SE5a, what is it going to take?
  18. Claim rejected, though!
  19. So here's one that worked better, although I don't know why: Novice level gunner? Luckily wounded him on the first pass? Was in the sweet spot where he decided blowing his own tail off was more of a threat than me? Needs more research...
  20. Here's where we stand so far: Pretty grim. Someone is going to win this just by surviving!
  21. I try to be useful for something!
  22. Similar. Check out this video and especially the ranges at the end: I have been thumped by Rolands repeatedly in this new campaign and they always seem to hit a control cable or fuel tank or something critical. It has always been kind of like that in past WOFFs but the new replay feature gives us some data. This is with the rear guns set to "less accurate"! I know observers were dangerous in real life, it seems unlikely they were so at such extreme ranges and angles. Maybe this just balances out some of the real world issues that we don't have to contend with, like actually dying, so I don't know how it would be adjusted in a practical way...
  23. Not at my computer right now, but it's in one of the campaign sub-screens. Try intel, maybe?
  24. Good work, everyone! Stache: sorry to hear about Reed! I have really enjoyed your videos, I hope you keep up with them! catch, that is fine, we'll imagine he went immediately back to base and landed safely, being sure not to neglect any semi-visible trees on the approach!
