  1. Good points, Pol. I have chosen "normal" for forward guns, and "less accurate" for rear guns, for these reasons: - forward guns are fixated to the whole craft, and aimed quite well by the pilot looking over a gunsight - rear guns are being moved and swung around under stress; not only left and right, but also up and down - the gunner had to change his whole position for the up/down movements, which makes it less likely, that he could always aim perfectly well. The rear twin guns must have been a deadly weapon though, in the hands of an experienced gunner, who knew his effective range; who could wait for the right moment. What I am researching right now in Kilduff's book "The Red Baron", is the time for a burst. We have always more or less agreed here, that short bursts are safer, cause they do not lead to gun jams so easily. But I have read two or three combat descriptions about MvR now, where he fired a very long, single burst, which in one case really sawed the tail end off a two-seater.
  2. MilitaryCannel listed the HP 0/400 at rank 9 of the Top Ten bombers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrZ__nyRCbw Rank 4 is a bit off-topic, but a must-see: the De Havilland "Mosquito" You may also want to search for "The de Havilland Mosquito" (Parts 1 - 5).
  3. Does anyone know "SABRE ACE - Conflict over Korea" ? I used to play it for a while and found (back then) it looked quite good.
  4. Well, it's mainly the Brits with their kids who got me worried! (Mmuahahahahahahaaa!!!!) Hihi, an "Olham-shaped hole" - perhaps that's where all my money goes??? Thank you guys!
  5. European Air War was great. Also 1942: The Pacific Air War by Microprose.
  6. "Vott? You shot holez into my Albatros?!?!? Bleech!! I muszt find out, who dared to fly it in my absentze!!! Schultz!!!!!!" Nice try, Hasse Wind - but not with an OFF veteran. I know the devels by now. But at least I found new P4 screenshots at my return - and they show more than I had expected so soon!
  7. Did you tick the choice Auto-exit mission: off in "Workshops" ? It's on the left (lower half).
  8. PS: the refined cockpit interiour makes me wonder, if I really want the pilot body. We had a poll about this some time ago, and I voted for the pilot figure. But then, the instruments and gauges are much better visible without that body. Anyone else thinking the same?
  9. Von Baur and all: don't use paper towels! Paper only SEEMS to be soft - it is in fact rather "micro-scratchy". I had good results with a very soft piece of cloth, and luke warm water with two or three drops of dish liquid soap. Make sure, there won't be any chance of water squeezing out of the cloth and running down the screen! But then I have never tried the "professional stuff". Maybe I should.
  10. Wow - they all run in a normal time? Wolfenstein 3D was a very great one in it's time - lots of levels and diversity. But I don't see another of my favourites from the more recent years: STALKER. Worth a try.
  11. I'm back from Ostfriesland, where I had 12 straining days. My mother has to move out of the flat she's been living in for 10 years, and I did most of the clearing and packing. All this had to be done within short time for various reasons, and as the "old lady" also just had a knee surgery, it was all too much for her; and I felt like violating her life and feelings with my actions, which I could not do any more gently though. It was very tiring, and I'm glad I could return to Berlin for 9 days, before she will move into the new flat on the old age terrain (she'll have her own little flat, with some service from the old age, and an alarm conection). It will all be much smaller, and I hope, she will get used to that. But the appartment is very nice. Now I will try to get the most out of the forum and OFF flying, before I will travel there again, for another 10 days.
  12. Just back from Ostfriesland, and you guys have these fine welcome pics for me - stunning! And Widowmaker - I do want to be the Hun! With these refined cockpits and models, I can't wait for the first encounter with such a British "biggie" as the HP. Or to shoot away the Snipe around you! Mmuahahahahaaaaa!!! The new S.E.5 will definitely lure me to change sides for some carreers, though! Winder, your winter landscapes definitely look better than in "the other sim".
  13. - - - NOT TO BE REPLIED - - - NOTICE - - - NOT TO BE REPLIED - - Okay, I'm off then. I mean, without OFF. Thanks all; will miss you! (Damn, another 12 days without OFF and the forum - tough!)
  14. Flying at work could only be forgiven, if it was OFF, my son. That's 20 "Our Father in Heaven" and 10 "Ave Maria"!
  15. I know and still remembered that incident of yours - and I am still wondering, if that wasn't the most Freudian navigation error ever? We couldn't very well invite any POWs to our meeting of German and Turkish pilots, could we? And you have the beer there every day. In your case it could be: POW = Pilsener Over Water?
  16. That's why they are called "Comics", instead of "the harsh reality". Freedom of art.
  17. As far as I have always read here, the DVD version is always the 3.1 - mine is also from UBISOFT, and is 3.1 So you should be able to install OFF, until it will ask for the CFS3 DVD to load some files, as you said. Then it will continue with OFF installation.
  18. Will you do that job, Elephant? I'd like to try it out, when I return in 2 weeks?
  19. Well, I hope it's understandable - tricky to explain mathematics, when you were bad at math back in school days, and even in another language. Hope you guys will find it helpful!
  20. Yes, then they are most comfortable lot to be with - in the pub. First advice I was given by a landlord in Cornwall, when the bell rang for last orders: "Nobody can stop you from buying 3 or 4 or even more pints, young man. And we cannot throw you out, until you had enough time to drink them." So I ordered: "5 pints of Director's bitter! Markus, what will you have?"
  21. Do you mean, they should both be mixed together?
  22. I still remember that I once answered a guy's post with the words: "So what?" Thinking, the meaning was "What happened next?" or "What was the result?" Of course it did not mean that, as I know now, after some five or six good people here explained to the guy, that I was never rude against other posters. Even our good, great OvS had such a thing happening - it happens, because we can't see each other, nor do we hear the way it's pronounced.
  23. Dej, you are a great comedian, you are! Good, that my keyboard is water-, and coffeeproof! Lou, you guys make it harder and harder to leave for almost another 2 weeks - damn! A good monologue you provided Dej with - we'll use it next time. Okay, for all who don't know me yet: I'm the third from the left, sitting. Those who know me will easily recognise that stupid smile that happens to my face every time, when I'm totally drunk (which you also see from my whole relaxed posture - was this picture taken, short before I collapsed completely and fell on the other Turk's feet? I'm afraid I even pulled the Austrian guy to my right side down with me - oh, lord, this headache!) The last thing I remember before that is, that the ernest guy standing in the middle, always tried to find out, wether Dej's moustache-movements possibly were a secret morse code. Then it got dark.
  24. To hear that from a "detailist" like you is quite a compliment - thank you, Lou! Seems I made life harder for my own lot now, though...
  25. Andy, I think your English is quite good to make yourself understood - but I shouldn't be the first to say that; cause I am also German. So whenever you have a complicated question, you could always start a post with the words: "To Olham & Creaghorn...", and write in German. For your graphics setup, you may perhaps want to check my guide here: http://combatace.com...post__p__452080 It must not be the ultimate solution for each and every card, but it should help you with a lot.
