  1. You didn't mention Vista - maybe due to it's bad reputation? Well, I am flying OFF BHaH on a Vista system and on an XP system, and they are both doing very well. No problems at all yet. (OT: only funny thing is, that the KASPERSKI SECURITY on the Vista rig keeps complaining when it detects the TrackIR 5 Pro. But I just ingnore it).
  2. Please, devs, give the man a Snipe, that he may stop! (And maybe realise what a bad pilot he is.) I'm just looking forward to the next sortie - I haven't even tried out a third of BHaH, but I'm determined to do so. For example do I still have to meet Camels with my Fokker E.V Staffel !
  3. Christ, you can learn a lot here. Thanks to Flyby PC I found the "Nachthexen" in Wikipedia! Here is the only photo - Miss Raskowa, the Madam Mim of Russia!
  4. Geeze - next to Calamity Jane!
  5. For god's sake, give the man a Snipe, so I can fight him and send him into the soil! Did I say, I love Snipes? ...with mustard! Hmmm!!!!
  6. Okay, I never tried that beer - but if it's as good as the fighter of the same name, it would be nice to continue our debate over a couple of pints of it. Haha! Rickitycrate, I just noticed your new signature!
  7. Well, at least none of them needed to fresh up their flavour with SPITFIRE beer, like some people I know...
  8. Too late for what? For advising Hitler???? I'd rather have escaped to England with the first plane I could get! Or too late for Elly Beinhorn? Hmmm..... Yes...
  9. Thanks a lot, RAF_Louvert! Through your help, I have got the address of that German bookshop. They have an own webpage; here's the link for "aviation books": http://www.zvab.com/catalogSearch.do?id=784&name=Luftfahrt And here it's only 20,- Euro - I'll get it! Thank you!!
  10. Indeed, Rickitycrate - I think he was rather "advice-resistant". And the advisors he listened to where junkies and mad!
  11. Ahhh!!! Yes, I see what you mean - although I much prefer them without balls!
  12. JFM - by all means, don't even think it was about MvR, but some other Jasta. The only way to enjoy it.
  13. Marthe Richard, née Betenfeld (1889–1982) was a prostitute and spy. She later became a politician and worked towards the closing of brothels in France in 1946. There - what I always say about politicians! Professional liars! Even deny themselves!! No, you all must be half blind from wearing the wrong goggles - Elly is the one I'd choose!
  14. Oh, really, OvS???!!! What great news, that you have finally found some time to find this out! But don't be too asthonished, when we all knew it already! Hope you got a taste of blood for more now (and the time!) - think you deserved it!
  15. Oh man, you know you are heading right for insanity with those details, Siggi? I remember how I gave up about it: I had built a Messerschmidt Me 262 jet fighter. To show the (rather poor) jet engine, I showed one engine pod opened. I had made all internal ribs to be real oval parts with all the holes drilled in for saving weight. But when I tried to fix it all together, I found, that the nacelle was deformed badly. So I tried to re-form it by blowing warm air at it from a fan made to remove colour from wooden parts. First, nothing happened, until I switched it on hotter. Suddenly it melted faster than I could remove. I got berserk and through the whole model away. I hope you stop, before that happens, to come back to it later. It is looking very good so far!
  16. Thanks for the inspiration, Rickity, just checked Ebay. Herr Stark's book seems rather rare? I found this one, but quite expensive. Funny, we can't get it in German - isn't it? http://cgi.ebay.de/W...=item335872da60
  17. Okay, here is a French pilotess, Denise Moore. And an American aviatress (?), Julia Clark. (Still my heart beats most for Elly...)
  18. Well, I'm glad Germany didn't win. I think we are better respected in the world now, than we would have been then. But apart from all supply and resource questions: just take out your school atlas and open a map of the whole globe. Now take a piece of transparent paper and copy the outlines of France, Great Britain, Canada, Australia and the USA around the outline of Germany... Got the idea?
  19. Thank you all for your contributions - WomenFly2 comes to my mind; a pity she left us. Elly may look a bit androgynous, but why not - a woman who makes a flying license and travels round the globe in a single seater in those pioneer days, may not be she soft girly type. But here's a pic without a flying cap. (My god - we are talking about female pilots in a typical male style here. But what can we do?...)
  20. Actually, I did and still do sign writing, on panels, cars, tarpaulins for vans and windows. So we are doing very similar stuff, Burning Beard.
  21. Just saw the Anime film "My neighbour Totoro". A father moves to the Japanese countryside with his two daughters, into a house he has bought there. While the mother is in hospital, the kids discover, that there seem to be ghosts in the house. The younger child discovers kind of a "tunnel" through the green behind their house, follows it and finds the sleeping forrest ghost Totoro... A wonderful film with great pictures, that make you wish you where out there in the countryside of old Japan. I thought I could almost breathe in the scents of the forrest after a rain. Highly recommended for all with children - and all, who still have a child in them. PS: the only other animated film of Miyazaki I know is "Princess Mononoke" - another overwhelming trick film about the clash of humans and nature's ghost and demons. The pictures and ideas he created, are first class!
  22. Wikipedia gives it a max. speed of 119 mph - se here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPAD_S.VII
  23. Not to forget HMS Ark Royal (the 1914 one): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Ark_Royal_%281914%29
  24. Well, what Wikipedia says about it sounds not bad. The Snipe's structure was rather heavier, but much stronger, than earlier Sopwith fighters. Although not a fast aircraft for 1918, it was very maneuverable, and much easier to handle than the Camel, with a superior view from the cockpit - especially forwards and upwards. The Snipe also had a superior rate of climb, and much better high-altitude performance com- pared to its predecessor, allowing it to fight Germany's newer fighters on more equal terms. But note the last line: ...allowing it to fight Germany's newer fighters on more equal terms. More equal - that means, still not really equal!
