In our DiD Campaign, we recently get the wheather forecast "bitterly cold". Still though, we have to make one or two sorties a day. I often think, that those guys must have been frozen to their bones after return. I cannot imagine, that flights could have been made in January, without wearing a facemask with a fur inlay. So I kept searching for pics, and now found this one. http://www.redpilot.com/museum/ww2/wfacemask.html It is a Soviet mask from WW2, but that doesn't matter - I can hardly have been much different in WW1. The guy writes, that he doesn't know what fur it is, but that it is very soft and short-haired, so I guess it might be mole skin. If anyone has a picture of a WW1 pilot wearing such a mask, please post it!

OvS, I can only assume you must be a good husband and daddy, and I really mean it. A responsible job, a household with wife and children, and then your work on OFF - you cannot have much spare time for flying yourself. Please show these lines to your wife: Hello, Miss Romano You may be thinking, James is already spending too much time on OFF, but that seems to be rather the work on OFF, which is WORK (and hopefully brings the boys the deserved success one day! Their product is simply PHANTASTIC!). But to be up to date with his product and his customers, and more than that: for his own pleasure, he should have some more time for just flying it like all other players - for fun. So hug this good man of yours and let him have some time off for good behaviour, okay? (Playing keeps us men alive and well, you know?) Thanks for reading! Could be the stuff I had - it was a British art masking fluid. Another effect I used was to paint something silver, then when dry, matt black, and after drying, carefully go over the surface with fine steel wool, to partly bring out the silver again. But what do I tell yer - when I see your work, you surely know all these tricks.

Wow, wonderful work there, Siggi - almost makes me think of trying it again. As for masks: there used to be a fluid paintable rubber for masking, that could later just be rubbed off. Very good for masking tiny or difficult areas. Not sure if it still gets produces, and forgot the name.
