Reading Jim's post "17 hours", it seemed to me, that getting into Campaign may not be an obvious procedure for everyone. So I thought, I write it down here for all, who only used QC so far. When you start the sim, you see several words at the bottom of the screen. There are: Leave - Pilot Dossiers - Campaign - Missions - Quick Combat - Multiplayer - Credits - Workshop Now, you click Pilot Dossiers and create a pilot there. [You can choose nationality, Squadron, time in war, and your rank to start with] Then, you leave. Now, you are at the start screen again and click Campaign. From here, you get into your first real campaign briefing. Read all at the right about your mission. Check the total flight distance and choose a right amount of fuel (best is for twice the way). You can reject a flight route by clicking optional flight, or you can click advance time, to get a different mission type. (For this, manual "time advance" must be allowed in "Workshop"). If you have more than one pilot, you must activate the one you want to fly with, in "Pilot dossiers", by clicking on "make active" below.

Hey, Jim Here's the way again. When you start the sim, you see several words at the bottom of the screen. There are: Leave - Pilot Dossiers - Campaign - Missions (and more) Now, you click "Pilot Dossiers" and create a pilot there. Then, you leave. Now, you are at the start screen again and click "Campaign". And from here, you get into your first real campaign flight. You can reject a flight route by clicking "optional flight", or you can click "advance time", to get a different mission type. (For this , manual "time advance" must be allowed in "Workshop"). Hope, you'll get in there now - your comrades are waitning. Cheers; Olham Edit/PS: if you have more than one pilot, you must activate the one you want to fly with, in "Pilot dossiers"

I was under the impression from some old Roman historian (I forget which) that a few years later, the Romans went back, gathered up all the identifiably Roman bones they could find scattered about the ground, and burned them. Thus, I've been curious as to whether the excavations verified this somehow. Yes. After old Roman reports, another Roman High officer returned 5 or 6 years after the battle, and collected and buried the bones. Graves of Roman bones where found there now, and they proof the former theory, as they show teeth marks from animals, that must have eaten from the dead bodies, when they where still on the surface. I will search for a good site about the exhibition, and add it here later. Edit: here it is - and even in English: http://www.kalkriese-varusschlacht.de/

Congratulations first, CW, and it IS something to achieve - victories can still be collected. Yes, I think it's paranoid. And I had once asked a similar question about Albatros lower wings breaking up in mid air - I had thought it was because I had too many kills in very short time. A dev reacted quite upset and assured me, all was done "strictly by the book" (which I never read). But it turned out, that I had just dived too steep. I was used to the Albatros DIII, which can bear more stress on the wings. But now I flew a D Va, and that's a different craft. I almost had two collisions today, and I'm not at all near that 17hour mark. I would rather guess, it has something to do with aggressive enemy AI approaching you, and you making a sudden move. Anyway - the only way to avoid it is, overall situational awareness, plus more careful moving around. Something difficult to achieve, I know that.

You're not the only one, and not the first, SittingDuck, I had to throw away old stuff too. So what about the award, Erik? A kind of Blue Max? -
Albatros D V later - Franz Schmid - 1 victory - Jasta 32b

Okay, Bullet, you won. But only, as I liked you already before. And - okay - I admit, that this "creeping up the spine" thing happened to me, too, when I saw the iron mask with a silver covering, that a Roman officer had worn, in the Varus battle. It could be, that it was even Arminius' mask, as he was educated and trained by the Romans, he was an officer, and he had led them into an ambush. As a man of knowledge, plus military experience, you must know this battle. There is an exhibition about it until September. They are pretty sure now, that the battle was near Kalkriese. Over a distance of more then 10 kilometers, they found the remains of that slaughter. Three Legions got almost totally wiped out - a fifth of the strength of the whole Roman empire. Yes, it makes a chicken skin on me.

It never ceases to amaze me......

Capital "B", eyh? Just had some for breakfast, CJ! -
No, can't be done yet. Hopefully in the future. The devs are working on it.

As far as I know, it was taken by the victors of WW2 - in this case the Russians, as his father house was in Schlesien.

Jim, first you click on "pilot dossiers", there you enlist a new pilot, choose a Jasta/Squadron, the time you want to fly in the war, and rank. Make this pilot "active" below. Now you leave "pilot dossiers" and click on "campaign". There you will find your first mission/ briefing now. You can accept it, or click on "optional flight".

The "Deutsches Museum" (German Museum) in Munich has an exhibition until September, in which they compare painting from Paul Klee with camouflage and markings of German war aircraft. It seems, they found a lot of Klee's art after WW1 was directly inspired by his service time in Schleissheim, where he had to do paint jobs on warcraft. The airframe in the picture is a freshly painted craft, loaded on a train for it's transport to the front service. http://images.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http...sa%3DN%26um%3D1 So, all skinners are in good company of a famous artist - who sais, skinning wasn't art?

The "Bordeaux Red Baron" strikes again

Tuba2: One would feel terrible even thinking of putting any holes or inflicting damage on such a regal looking craft. That's what I hoped, when I made it! And no one did, so far! -
Not to forget the ivory white Halberstadt - she looks really good in white!

...the same reverence that attracts pilgrims to cathedrals housing some fragment of a saint. Exactly. And that's another thing I really hate. Crawling into cathedrals, to catch a glimpse on a bone that is said to be the left foot's big toe of some so called saint. How far away from real belief is that? But some of what you wrote, Bullet and Hasse, makes sense to me.

Great, you brought this up, Rooster - that way I discovered, that some of my ATI settings still weren't optimized. -

The "Bordeaux Red Baron" strikes again

Thank you, Sir! Well, I have my tricks, and it really doesn't take very long. All the good stuff is already there, made so beautifully by OvS, Paarma, Makai, Polovski, Sandbagger and others. I just use all this. -
He had just died, when they took his boots, his uniform and god knows whatelse. To me, such relicts have something horrible about them. This is what remained of the man, the warrior.

Do you have a WWI movie idea?
Olham replied to Rickitycrate's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks for the link, Hauksbee! So, at least for his former jewish wingman, Goering seems to have felt somehow responsible. Hm... -
Today, I "created" another new pilot; I wanted to fly somewhere close to Verdun, where I had not fought before. I chose Jasta 32b, Bantheville, August 1917. Their sign is a black tail end. Now, I wanted a personal skin for Juergen Mahlo, but also use this black tail, and out came this bordeaux red craft with the letters "J M" on the sides. It brought me luck - downed 4 SPAD VII in my first mission! (See: Reports from the front)
-
Today, I joined Jasta 32b, Bantheville, in August, 24th, 1917. Nice area, and I can hunt down SPAD VIIs for a change! Here's a skin from that Jasta: Albatros DV later - Hans Auer - 5 victories - FA 9, FEA 1b, Jasta 16, 26, 32
