  1. I'm sure with the game engine that causes issues that I'm not aware of, but I guess that sucks up the VRAM pretty well, and a lot of a/c flying will choke some computers. Anyway yeah I feel you though.I mean SidDogg did a good job with the decals, but again they look kinda plasticky and not good in my opinion, with the exception of tactical numbers, which more or less when done right, look good on the skin.
  2. I think you should to The Range and perfect your skills before heading into a combat zone first. I mean I don't do much practice anymore because well, I don't fly missions anymore, but overall The Range will get you comfortable with a technique you can apply to bombing small targets and such. It's just easy to carry some bombs, blow up the main target, and then hunt and peck at other targets.
  3. I'm not too much of a fan of the F-16 template, but it is what it is, and otherwise a decent template. I know back in the day Eagle Dynamics made good templates (the Black Shark one was just too much for the bird IMHO) and if I still played DCS, I would probably generate some more skins, but I just don't have the room on my laptop for it, so there's that. Some companies like 3W don't make good mapping so even with a decent template you're still running into issues with it, which for the Tomcat I preferred the TMF birds given that the mapping and templates were good for skinning. Anyway, I limit decals for the USN bird Modex numbers and that's about it. SidDogg did some good work with decals for the Super Bug, but overall I stay away from decals unless I have no real choice.
  4. That's why I like FastCargo's work when making a template, when able with any template, but I feel you when you start out trying to figure it all out when you don't have a template. That's why I always search for one for a project.
  5. I don't know which F-4 (didn't read all the posts), but if you are able to make a separate station for the bird, then it'll show "1 AIM-7 Sparrow", and so on. If it already does that then you just have to select the pylon and pod. If they are grouped together like "4 AIM-7 Sparrow" and so on, then you'll have to make your own loadout. I'm thinking if it's stock, then you'll have to make a custom loadout as Sundowner recommends, then in the Mission Editor go to your aircraft and then select that loadout (make sure you follow the format, it'll take some guesses where the ECM pod goes though) and do whatever else, and go fly.
  6. You select the custom loadout in the MIssion Editor, when you edit the mission. That's the only way to get it setup so you can have an ECM pod, and three Sparrows. Or if the pylon is a separate pylon by itself, simply select the ECM pod. It should allow you to do that in the Loadout screen.
  7. I deleted all of the rest of my Firestreaks and Red Tops because I need quality in my mod folder, and went with these. Thanks ravenclaw!

  10. Basic JASDF camo. In essence I'm trying to make the grey a more grey color, but so far it's not working with me. I may have to do some other trickery, but here's how it looks so far: http://ericjwrites.itgo.com/Arma3/wip1988.jpg I think the person on Steam wanted a more camo look, but the way that the helo is mapped makes it kinda worrisome to pull off an effective pattern that looks decent, so I stuck with the grey.

  14. Well it looks good to me, but that's just a minority opinion.
  15. If the Viper (or any jet) had PGMs then it's doable, sneak up on it and waste it. But a HARM shot would be a waste of a good missile. The two S-300s we have in the Downloads section are setup (like the real one) to distract and prevent HARMs from shooting it, so low and fast and locked on with a Mav or so would do the trick.

  22. Here's what the internal jammer on an F/A-18EF will look like for Block II and IIIs. I reduced the power of the internal jammer and it coincides with the Growler. I don't know why I can't make the jammers more powerful on the Growler (I would think to provide EW protection, it would have to have the power to do so, even in game) as I think I'm at "max" value for the podded jammers. Anyway here's the test value on my personal jet against the SA-10 Radar. I forgot who made it, but overall this is what the internal jammer will do. It seems fairly reasonable for a fighter to have that effect (If I didn't jam it would have locked me up as soon as I took off from the carrier, so it does work, just not how it used to in previous videos and iterations of the coding and the like).
