READ-ME! This is an inclusive read-me file for the WWII Aircraft pack. Unzip the pack to your Objects folder. Make sure you have a Nations.ini file that has the entries for Nazi Germany and Japanese Empire or these planes will make your game crash. These planes run fine on my system and several dissimilar test systems so if you have problems with them, you're on your own. They are provided as-is with no support what-so-ever. If you find you don't like them, that's what the Delete button is for. There will be no changes, improvements, or upgrades to them EVER so don't even bother asking. The skin templates will be uploaded as a pack just like the planes. You are free to repaint the planes and do with the skins you create as you please. YOU ARE NOT FREE TO REDISTRIBUTE THESE PLANES IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, FORM, OR FASHION. YOU ARE DAMN WELL NOT FREE TO CHARGE FOR THEM OR TRY TO MAKE MONEY WITH THEM IN ANY MANNER. WOLF CREDITS:THANKS ArmourDave for allowing me to use his Zero cockpit. Major Lee for several excellent P-47D-20 skins, loading and hanger screens. Calling Wolf257!

The needle node names are Coolant_Temp_01 and Coolant_Temp_02. The gauges are just painted on the panel, there isn't a 3D model. WOLF -
Prop-Head Modding and 3d Discussion
WOLF257 replied to KnightWolf45's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
With the exception of the P-51's my planes are intentionally low poly model. The main reason being that I hate slide shows and you can usually get a lot of my planes in your field of view without killing your framerates. I don't build screenshot models, if I can look out of my cockpit and I.D. the other plane then I've done what I set out to do. I used a generic pit for several of the planes because I either didn't have good drawings to work from or I simply didn't feel like building a pit. The P-51D, P-47's, P-38, Corsair, Bf109G and the Fw190's have a real cockpit but I also didn't go completely insane on any of them other than the P-51 because the pit can kill your framerates too. I used AD's pits for my Ki-27, Ki-43 and N1K2 because they were better than anything I could have built and he was kind enough to let me use them. I've got some other planes and some updated models for existing planes in the works but they'll have to wait till real life gives me some time. Forgot some... WOLF -

It could be if the CVN was carrying attack helos rather than jets. I think a Cobra or Apache would be just the thing to clean the clock of said men in thier 20 foot boat. FFAR's and Hellfires for the larger pirate boats. Would probably be cheaper to use one of those Marine Amphib. Assault Ships that's basically a converted Escort carrier. They are already set up to handle helos. Another potential solution would be the old Q-Ship concept, that could prove amusing, at least to the people manning the weapons systems on the Q-Ship. Might put a damper on the pirates to some extent to not know if their entended target is actually a freighter or if it's something that's going to hand them their ass if they get within range. But unfortunately I agree with the majority, if politicians are envolved it will be a wasted effort. WOLF

File Name: P-36A.zip File Submitter: WOLF257 File Submitted: 1 Nov 2005 File Category: WW2 Aircraft First the disclaimer and legal mumbo-jumbo: You download and install this add-on aircraft at your own risk, it's been tested on several dis-similar systems and caused no problems but your mileage my vary. This aircraft model is not endorsed by TK or Third Wire. The model, cockpit and base paintjob were done by me alone so any errors are my fault, complaints and suggestions should be directed to me at the Stike Fighters Forum at SimHQ. You are free to distribute this add-on aircraft as long as it's done as the complete orginal zip file including this read-me file. You are also free to repaint it in any manner you chose. You are not free to charge for it or otherwise try to make money with it. Operational Notes: The P-36 was a fine combat aircraft in it's day. When tested by the RAF against the early Spitfire it was found to be superior in handling in many ways and remained light to the controls even at high speed, especially in the roll. However, by the outbreak of WWII the P-36 was already outclassed as a frontline fighter. Be aware that while this plane flys pretty well, it will stall and spin if you push it past it's limits. The FM was designed to be flown in the Hard setting. Have Fun. Last words. Why did I decide to build WWII planes when there are other sims out that cover the period? Some of my most enjoyable simming, both on and offline, was with European Air War, I'm a confirmed WWII prop head and I make no apologies about it. Strike Fighters has given me a platform to indulge in my favorite period to an almost unlimited extent and I'm going to take full advantage of it. WOLF257 Click here to download this file

2. - When it appears that you have killed the monster, NEVER check to see if it's really dead. The proper proceedure here would be to shoot it at least 5 more times and then hit it in the crotch with a well seasoned hickory axe handle. That way if it isn't dead yet, at the very least it probably won't be able to get up and chase you for quite some time. WOLF

P-51D-30 problems
WOLF257 replied to Shin_kazama's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The guns on the P-51 already converge between 300 and 350 yards or slightly more than .1 nautical mile. I set them that way when I built the plane but if you want the convergance to be something different change the following... Left Outboard Gun [LeftGun1] SystemType=FIXED_GUN GunTypeName=50CAL_M2 InputName=FIRE_PRIMARY_GUN MuzzlePosition=-2.46,0.785,-0.514 LightPosition=-2.46,0.785,-0.514 AimAngles=0.5,0.0,0.0<<<<< this indicates that this gun is angled towards the right .5 degrees MaxAmmo=270 EjectShells=TRUE EjectPosition= -2.46,-0.250,-0.675 EjectVelocity= 0.0,0.0,-2.0 MinExtentPosition= MaxExtentPosition= The right side guns have a negative number on the AimAngle to indicate that the gun is angled to the left. Increase this number to bring the convergance in closer. As far as SAM's go, just stay down in the weeds, SAM's won't track or guide below a certain altitude. Also, any SAM operator stupid enough to give himself away to an armed target he has no hope of hitting deserves the several hundred rounds of .50cal ammo I'm gonna give him. WOLF -

You are not free to charge for it or otherwise try to make money with it. Copy all the .tga file from the Tomahawk\3rdPursuitSq\D folder to the Aircraft folder in order for the fuselage numbers to display correctly in the game. Operational Notes: You'll notice that there aren't any loadout options for this plane, this is correct. The P-40 varient sold to the Chinese Government and used by the AVG was a hybrid, the basic airframe was pulled from the production P-40C run. But there were some noteable differences between it and the standard P-40C making it closer to the P-40B. Like the P-40B it had no provisions for either a drop tank or bomb shackles, it had externally sealed fuel tanks and had no armor plate between the engine and cockpit. The engines were also an anomally of sorts, due to the wording of the sales contract, the Chinese had to supply their own engines...100 engines which they didn't have. However, the Curtiss engineers found a way around this by hand building engines from out of spec. but servicable parts. Basically these engines were close to what race drivers call a blueprinted engine. According the Ed Schilling, the squadron engineering officer for the AVG, the engines in their P-40's were actually built to tighter tolerances, which gave them more power and better fuel consumption rates than the regular production engines. This is reflected in this model by a very slight increase in max speed over the 352 mph of the standard P-40B. There is no reliable evidence that the AVG ever met the A6M2 Zero and the timeline tends to bear this out, the IJN squadrons had been moved out of China before the AVG became active and the Imperial Japanese Army had been assigned to operations in China. Flown to it's strengths the Tomahawk was well able to handle it's main opponent, the Ki-43. However, if you chose to fight the enemy's fight, the results were usually swift and grim, the only thing you could count on was the ruggedness and superior dive speed of the Tomahawk to drag you out of what could rapidly turn into a lethal situation. Be aware that while this plane flys pretty well, it will stall and spin if you push it past it's limits. The FM was designed to be flown in the Hard setting. Have Fun. Last words. File Name: Ki-21.zip File Submitter: WOLF257 File Submitted: 15 Oct 2005 File Category: WW2 Aircraft This was the primary Japanese Army bomber used during the first half of the war. It was fast and had a respectable payload for a twin engined bomber but suffered from the same problems as most other Japanese planes in that it lacked self sealing fuel tanks and had no crew armor. Make sure you have the Nations.ini file that includes the [Japanese Empire] entry. Click here to download this file

I don't have time to build a pit for this one so I included the P-51 pit that Crisis did. If you just have to have German instruments you can use the pit for the 190. It might even help wih your frame rates. Like the 190, if you need to get rid of the Swastika just go to the skin folder and delete the .tga file. I rarely fly the plane so there may be problems with it, I just use it as a target. Click here to download this file
