  1. B-17 from the back:
  2. Hero? Maybe a great american athlete, but not a hero, at least not anymore than any other big time athlete. Congrats to him, though!
  3. I do not. All I read was that they're scheduled stop was in KC, and that some vets son got them to come over here for a little while.
  4. Nope, that was most definatly a B-17 :). These are the two that were here: B-17 "Nine - o - Nine": And the famous B-24 "The Dragon and His Tail": I went through the B-24 first. Very cool, I went up, got a picture of the tail gunner seat. then we (my friend and I) went up through the fuselage to the side guns, then up through the bomb bays. We weren't allowed to go up to the cockpit, but I did manage to crawl up into the front gear hole and get a picture of the Norton bomb-sight before I got yelled at :D While we were in the back, some vet was saying how the side guns were the most dangerous part of the planes "Cause even with those 50 cals, a 109 could tear you up." He also said something about how flak would just tear right through the skin of the plane. another one said "It's been a long time since I've been in one of these..." We then moved over to the B-17. That one was a lot roomier, at least in the back, then the B-24. A couple more 50 cals on the side, and I was able to look in the window of the tail gunner (I didn't know they had Rubbermaid coolers back then??? ) Anyways, we were able to come up through under the cockpit, move back a little, stand up, and be right behind the cockpit, so I got a good picture of that :) Also, That's the same area that the top turret is at, so I got a good look at how that worked. The must have sucked. we then moved back through the bomb bay, which was surprisingly small. I've heard that the B-17 had a small bay, but that was just tiny. Moving back was to the radio room, and then to the gunners. I got several good pics, but they're on real film (heaven forbid) so I'll have to get them developed and scanned before I can put them up. Then I took my friend up in a C172. It's just not the same... :D
  5. Hey guys, there's a B-17 and a B-24 at our local airport, but they're leaving tomorrow. I'm gonna go out tomorrow morning with a friend and get a tour :D I'll see what I can do for pictures, as the digital camera is in San Fransico with my parents... By the way, CB, they originally weren't scheduled to come come to Manhattan, but some WWII vets son convinced them to stop by. I think they're flying back to KC tomorrow. If you want to see them, they should be there for a little while.
  6. Umm, I think I tried both. Same thing. Actually, that second flight, where I tried to deviate from the course they gave me, I changed my destination to New Orleans :D But ATC had the last laugh, they made my drop my DC-10 down to 5000 ft, and fly right through the middle of a thunderstorm... at dusk... slowly...
  7. Man... coding... I havnt' done that in forever. I do remember it being very fun though :)
  8. Has anyone else been "forgotten" by ATC when making flights? I mean, they still talk to you and tell you to change frequncies, but they don't have you fly your IFR flight? Case in point, I just made an IFR flight from Kansas City Intl to Cincinatti Intl. Takeoff went well, I was told to fly heading 190 and climb and maintain FL190. Which I did. Eventually, I got far enough south that I was told to contact Ft Worth Center. Needless to say, Ft. Worth is a long ways from Cincinatti. This happened before too, I think KC to Columbus or something. On that flight, I got yeld at when I tried turning to my destination when I was halfway over Arkansas. So what is up with that? any ideas, and has this happened to anyone else?
  9. Been trying to connect to the TS server all day, and its been down. Know why?
  10. It is :) turned 18 today.
  11. Awesome pics! I especially like 3 and 6 :)
  12. Dang MJ, what do you do all day that you can move that many files and change all the links in a matter of hours? That's awesome :D
  13. I've been gone from the LOMAC world for a while, so maybe I missed something. But what is LUA? oh, and I claim first post!!! :D
  14. heh, I kinda like the clock idea...
  15. No problems... did you try it in a face paced fps game? Cause if it still works decently in a game, I'll go ahead and buy it.
  16. Cya later Nesher, you'll be missed.
  17. Thanks for the reply Ghost. Ok, after a few minutes of research (maybe I shoulda started with that :)) there's two cameras that catch my eye. The creative NX Pro and the Logitech QuickCam Messenger Both are $47, both offer 640 x 480 resolution, but the logitech says it offers 30 fps while the creative only has 15.
  18. Anything? anything at all?
  19. That looks sweet... but will an optical mouse work with all that black? You know, the lack of light reflection and everything.
  20. I'm in the market for a new webcam. I'd like one with a decent resolution and a decent speed. But the problem is, I don't know what "decent" is for modern webcams. Info and suggestions are appriciated. Also, this is for my laptop, so something small and with a clip would be good. Something I forgot too. I'm probably gonna need a USB hub as well, probably a 4 port.
  21. whats the name of the zip file?
  22. I was looking for them military stuff, but I guess I won't get them, I don't think y computers good enough for it. Although I would like a flyable KC135. PAI? Whats that? I'd like to get those airline files if I could.
  23. Any luck getting it up? I still don't see a link anywheres...
  24. Hey guys, I'd like to know what kind of free AI stuff is out there. I've seen the repaint packs and the like, but I don't know where to start. And is it SP only, or do the military addons show up in MP too?
  25. Think you could get Forbes Field in KS and Grand Forks ND? But nice planes, I'll need to download them soon.
