Hi all, the current Display filter is the GreenFilter.bmp which gives displays a mid 80's/90's green monochrome look. In most modern 4th Gen A/C colour displays are used which is also modelled in-game (by removing Greenfilter by making Filter=False) but Laser Pods tend to be used in IR (thermnal Imaging) mode even during daylight so is there anyway to replicate this grey/white LP display in-game? I've tried making a Grey version of the greenfilter instead but it either has no really effect or makes the picture so dark it's not usable (whereas the Greenfilter is very bright). Any ideas? Many Thanks.........................................IanH

Learning to Bomb Effectively

Falcon 4 was one but I don't know about any others. In Falcon 4 you selected your target, held down the pickle button whilst flying towards your target and the computer released your bombs when it calculated your bombs would hit. It also worked for loft bombing to! -

The late 70's a/c in SF2 use CCIP so where ever your pipper is thats where the bombs will hit although in real life the attacks will have to be either dive bombing or very low level for the target to be seen in the HUD. The "Level bombing" version is CCRP where you select the target and fly over it at any height and the computer releases the bombs at the right time (like DIANE) to hit the target. -

Went back to a favourite of mine - Tornado GR1 Desert Storm - and tweaked the forward pylon points to a more realistic position (I'd put them too far back before). Thanks to Ravenclaw007 for the PavewayII and I added ChrisBV's Op Granby skin. Attacking a GODDAMN EVIL COMMS BUILDING broadcasting propaganda in Basra '91 -
Cheers Spinners! The advantage of the TSR2 airframe was it's immense size, which would've allowed it to carry at least 4 more SAHM/AHM over the Tornado F3 had one been made. The Tornado should have used the 2 outer pylons from the GR anyway for 2 more missiles, but we adopted the 4 by 4 missile convention from the US when we bought the Phantoms and stuck with it even through to the (as many pylons as you want) Typhoon! Here's a more "reasonable" war-load (do you think the ones above are a bit over-kill? ) - 4x AIM-54, 6x AIM-120, 2x AIM-132 & 2x 450gallon Tanks -
-
Taking Sundowners TSR2 down the Tornado F3 route - With the RAF needing to replace it's ageing ADV fleet in the late 90's the UK government decided that an agile dogfighter wasn't required in todays missile age. Instead, an Interceptor based on a stable platform for launching massed missile attacks was needed and, with the extra fuel and weapons carrying ability of the TRS2 airframe allowing it to carry the newly acquired AIM-54 and stay aloft longer before tanking, the decision was made and the TSR2 F3 was born. Designed as a missile carrier to stop Russian hordes swarming through the GIUK gap after the start of WWIII the TRS2 F3 carried a tremendous war load, either 6x AIM-54, 10X AIM-120 & 2x AIM-132 or a massive 24x AIM-120 for attacking larger bomber formations. Even when carrying an extra 7000l of fuel in under-wing tanks for maximum flying duration it could still carry 14x AIM-120 with 2x AIM-132, truly earning itself the nickname "The Airborne Battleship!"

Nation Specific Loadouts?

Add the following to the Loadout.ini [strike 2000]<----------------------------------------------------Change the name. It doesn't have to say Strike etc but I added the year to make it easy to remember. StartDefaultDate=2000<--------------------------------------The start date for the loadout. DefaultFor=STRIKE<------------------------------------------What the loadout is for (which is why the name above can be anything). Loadout[03].WeaponType=GBU-16 Loadout[03].Quantity=3 Loadout[03].RackType=TER Loadout[04].WeaponType=GBU-16 Loadout[04].Quantity=3 Loadout[04].RackType=TER ETC -

Iranian Weapons for Op Darius
ianh755 replied to ianh755's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Doh! - Eburger68 spotted a stupid mistake I'd made. I'd used the raw SF1 data.ini when creating the individual SF2 weaponsdata.ini's and forgot to put them through the Editor afterwards to convert them to SF2 standards. Wow do I feel like a Dumbass now! The Weapons will still work however an update has been made and is currently being checked so should be ready later tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Many Thanks..................................IanH -

The weapons in this pack were originally made for SF1 by Lindr2 back in September '08. I've converted them to SF2 standard and reskinned them to be more "realistic" than the original skins were, however 99% of the work was done in Paint so don't expect miracles with the skins! I've tested it in Op Darius with the Nov'11 Patch and everything seemed fine but let me know if you find anything. All the following have been tested and work on all the Iranian jets, however because of the "AttachmentType" nations used for the various Iranian jets in Op Darius these weapons will be available for most Aircraft. To make the pack compatable with the Aircraft in Op Darius I've had to make a few changes to how the Radar guided Anti-Ship Missiles work so they are now IIR guided (that way you won't have to mess with A/C data files to get them to fit on the pylons) ***************************************************************************** Installation Drag and drop into your Op Darius Mod Folder - Usually C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Op Darius (or whatever you've called it) ***************************************************************************** Weapons List - Due to sanctions Iran has it's own indigenous weapons program so I'll try and explain what each weapon is and it's guidance system. Last Iranian weapons shots - added some of the "noise texture" from the amazing Ravenclaw007 weapons pack to stop some of the Flat look of the skins. The mapping is pretty poor on pretty much every weapon (Sattir 1&4 have bits missing where you can see through the model etc) so they're never going to be works of art but they'll do (and are a lot better than before). After the shots I tweaked the Nasr (less texture), 750 LGB (smaller text) and Tow Launcher (added texture) but this is pretty much final now - Fatter IRM, Toophan-2 (TOW), Noor-A ASM, Noor-B ASM (extended range) & Yasser AGM. TIS-33 Laser Designator, AGM-379 Zoobin, Farj-e-Darya ASM, GBU-67_9/A Qadr & GBU-78A Ghassed. Kosar 1 ASM, Kosar 3 ASM, KH-55 Granat & Nasr ASM. Retarded 750lb LGB, Retarded 1000lb LGB, Retarded 2000lb LGB & Toophan-2 (TOW) Launcher. Sattir 1, Sattir 2, Sattir 3 & Sattir 4 AGM's. -

AllenJB42 - It'd have to be a separate package so I'll have a chat to Sundowner to see if he's happy with that (and if the Iranian skins will fit the newer model). The weapons and A/C ini's are no problem, just need to finish a few of the missiles off (all are still pure brilliant white!). Spinners - cheers for the info (can't see the pics at work), Sundowner will have the last word as it's his package but it's definately interesting (and an easy .ini change to your own tastes). -

Sounds too much like the AV-8 (the A-8 was the original designation), maybe back to the AB ones so something like the AB-3 Vengeance, anyway have some WIP USN GR3 goodness, now with added Laser Pod! And some 41SQN RAF on Ops in Oman '72 -

Spinners - I was thinking about the naming issue for the next Update to the TSR2 we're doing (as you said the US doesn't call things GR...) and while we're tweaking the jets it'd be an ideal time for a name change but I couldn't come-up with anything (I didn't like the triple number sound of A-112 for a name for example). I was using this as a guide - http://www.driko.org/usdes_a.html but nothing really "Jumped out" at me and the only "unused" designation is the A-11 "Astra" but because of the A-10 it looks like it's in the wrong time-frame even though the number was reserved before the A-10. Any thoughts?
