  1. This thread is for further development of the B-36 flight model. I personally like to start a flight mdel by selecting the closest stock aircraft and using that for all of the base aerodynamics. It ensures that you get a good starting point, and from there you can make adjustments appropriate for the new aircraft. In the case of the B-36, the closest ThirdWire offering is the C-130. I've taken the FM that came with the B-36D and copied in just the aerodynamic coefficients from the C-130. I then double-checked all of the basic weights, intertias, lengths, widths, thrust values etc. and made corrections where necessary. The biggest problem I found was that a typeo was preventing the jet engines from operating: Note that the component numbers are not contiguous. This means that the left and right nacelle components, to which the jet engines are attached, were not being used. I also changed the jet engines from incorrect J57s to correct J47s. With that fix made, the plane is a lot more flyable and the AI handles it better. Note that the exhaust positions for these jet engines still needs to be fixed. You'll see a big black cloud coming from the side of the plane right now. ;) Attached you will find updated data and cockpit INIs. They are far from being finished and are only good for testing. Any feedback is appreciated--together we can make it soar. B_36D.zip
  2. I'll check it out, thanks.
  3. Not being an avionics guy, that is a little above my pay grade. No, I can't include the F-111 because of restrictions on the use of the cockpit. (Plug: One of many reasons to support the Fair Use initiative!)
  4. The Gina in NF3 is by Erikgen and is of excellent quality.
  5. The new specific station code feature should allow me to force the Lightning to allways carry either RedTop or Firestreak. Thanks for bringing that up, it does need to be addressed. No A-Team mods will be included, so that rules out the Vulcan I think. Can you point me to an appropriate RN carrier?
  6. This is my thought as well, I don't want to exclude anyone, but I would like to put them in their likely AoO. If someone could make a Mediterranean campaign with the Black Sea and part of the Ukraine, we could have some real fun. Massive carrier ops...
  7. Let me look at what is available and I will see if I can get some more RAF birds in.
  8. The Mirage Factory Jaguar GR1 is already in the NF series. The Jaguar A has not been released yet. The F1 is being rebuilt by Oli but there is no ETA. The Vautour is part of WOI and I can't redistribute it because it belongs to TW. Danish Drakkens...I completely forgot them. Let me look into it!
  9. So true...
  10. I didn't fly them a lot but the AD-6 and AD-7 were in my WOI install when we were testing the latest patches, and I didn't notice any problems with them. But as I said, I didn't spend a lot of time with them.
  11. So, now you are equating the civil rights movement with the Detroit Lions?
  12. The customs weapons selection is working fine in the NF3 beta...
  13. Except that the OP clearly stated he wants to use 4Gb of RAm, so a 64-bit OS is required.
  14. That's only because TK is the only dev who patches his older products up to the same standard as the newest one. Were you in a cave the last couple of months or did you not notice everyone eagerly anticipating the recent patches to bring WOV and WOE up to the latest standard? You aren't seriously calling long-term support and negative, are you?
  15. Sunning on some beach on Cyprus.
  16. I think you hit it on the head, and your post is worth everyone's time to read and think about.
  17. Not really hype. On a 32-bit OS you can only address 4 GB of memory, and due to some arcane things about the x86 architecture you can only address 3.5 GB in practice. If you want to run with more than 3.5 GB of RAM, for whatever reason, you need a 64-bit OS.
  18. I do like it, but I will be switching back to Vista for one major reason: Apple does not support XP64 with iTunes. There is a way to hack the Vista-64 version to run on XP64, but it is a pain to have to do it every time a new version of iTunes is released. The only product for which I have not been able to find a driver was a wireless LAN card I was going to use to reduce the amount of cables behind my desk. Everything else has worked fine and I've had no incompatabilities with games. XP64 is actually Windows 2003 Server stripped of its server components with the XP interface, so that should tell you a lot about it. That said, if you have a very powerful system with at least 4 GB of RAM and a multi-core processor, Vista runs fine, so I'll be going back to it now that the SF games no longer require disabling shaders. PS - I have an HP machine at work that cost about $1000 at Best Buy. It has a quad core processor, 6 GB of RAM and a GeFore 9500 with Vista Ultimate 64-bit. While I haven't really played the games on it for obvious reasons, I did load up WOI and it seems to run it really well on it. Vista runs great on it. If you aren't looking to build your own, something like that would be great.
  19. Interesting to compare to the real turboprop Skyraider: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A2D_Skyshark
  20. Its difficult, sure. The AI will tend to make every fight a tight turning fight, and in their MiGs that is not a bad idea. A high or low yo-yo can often get you a high-deflection shot, but its low PK. One tactic that works is this: as they turn they will inevitably spiral down towards the ground. Once they get low enough, they are forced to level out, and at that point they are an easy kill most of the time.
  21. CA is place that has a sense of humor. Sometimes its whacked, sure. Anyone who does not have a sense of humor or who is too uptight should probably not post here. That's my opinion anyway, other moderators may disagree. Anyway, nothing Chuck Norris posted was in the slightest way derogatory towards ghostrider or anyone else. So, in the immortal words of Sgt. Hulka, "Lighten up, Francis."
  22. The only new one that I have noticed is AllowRandomAceCreation=TRUE/FALSE
