  1. I've been creating a list in a similar fashion to what you've done at SimHQ Wrench but I was thinking about creating something more along the lines of the colum5 SF Version Comparison Chart (http://www.column5.us/sfchart.htm) only problem is that there are a few models I'm positive I've seen but I just can't seem to find at the moment...
  2. Fifth time lucky, eh? Looks like your insignia is too low on the X axis maybe? Have you edited this skin at all? Which model Mig-21 is it? If you head into the folder that has the skin, there should be a "decals.ini". You should see: [Decal004] MeshName=RightOuterWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=2.63,-1.99 <<------------ This should be the primo position for any decals Scale=1.5 <<-------- Decal size DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal005] MeshName=LeftOuterWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-2.63,-1.99 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 [Decal006] MeshName=LeftOuterWing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=Insignia Position=-2.63,-1.99 Scale=1.5 DecalMaxLOD=3 If they still overlap or are cut off at the flaps, maybe scale the size of the decal down a notch
  3. I think part of the problem is that (with some of the models I've seen) your afterburner will point in your true direction as opposed to the pitch or yaw of your aircraft. I'm pretty sure you can see it in models like the F-16s when you change direction violenlty. I'll see if I can get you a screen cap for you...
  4. Buying online's easy enough. It just depends on how quickly you want it. I mean (depending on where you are) I think it's about 7-10 days if you buy it online usually.
  5. Unfortunately mine's a copy but I did the decent thing and nicked it from a guy I knew who pirated it for himself to prevent him from using it (I was bored and wanted some entertainment ) and, you know, to instill that sense of Karma... it didn't work though. He got his grubbies on another copy...
  6. Yeah, last few times I tried that link it wouldn't work for me. Been having probs with my isp. I'll give it a go again soon...

    Laughin Vid

LOL, all the top gun goodness without hearing a peep from Tom Cruise! Now if we could only take him outta the last samurai...
  8. Awww... I knew that was gonna be the answer I've already started one but it just seem to take forever (for the F-2, not the F-4). Am I right in thinking this is one of the more time consuming components of skinning or do I just suck at this...?
  9. I'm in a similar boat but I'm in the process of making a Mitsubishi F-2 skin. Are there any panelling templates for download? I've done an extensive search but I've got the feeling I've maybe missed something because I'm sure I saw an F-4 panel/wireframe around somewhere...
  10. ...uh... oops. My bad... Mashed the wrong tab (damned parkinson's!! )
  11. OOOOOOOOOOOHHHH!! Purdy..... (wipes chin)
  12. ...or like the rest of us, you could maybe, you know, wait... Remember, these guys have lives too...
  13. Crikey! I dunno how the rest of you feel about it but this really sucks! He was an absolute champ! There's a lotta shock over here at the moment which is weird because he wasn't all that big here but he was-- is still really respected for his efforts in conservation. It's a real shame... And then some wanker does this: http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,20352596-1702,00.html
  14. If you download the F-4EJ model it has 10 different skins for the current in service and aggressor aircraft in JASDF service. Might give you some ideas...
  15. Yeah, the RAAF wasn't too keen on the acquisition either because they're quite happy with the C-130J-30 for most of its transportation tasking but the MoD recently purchased some 59 (can't quite remember the exact numbers) of M1a1 Abrahms tanks and then came to the realisation for them to be appropriatly deployable for the ADF's needs, they'd need something to airlift them, and relying on the USAF wasn't an option to strategic planners. There's some resentment about the acquisition process here because the overall cost including maintenance and operaterations was something in the order of Aus$2 billion (US$ 1,534,095,267.32, give or take ) and it was certain that it would cut into the various F-111 programs. And many in the RAAF are still pissy with Boeing's intransigence about problems associated with various systems (most notably the F/A-18 programs and are worried that associated upgrades and tech transfers won't take place (such as with the JSF) And given that Boeing's still not happy about losing out in the MultiRole Tanker/Transport tender, maybe their fears are justified. This really sucks hard because we do buy some good toys from the US but business/poitical disorganisation (be it Australian or US) has screwed the ADF heavily in the past...
  16. No, it does, cheers. I'm using the current weaps pack but I think it could be the pylon type. Agamemnon said something similar on the other post but finding the missing lines of code is a tedious, tedious process! One way to get around it I've found is to copy the weapon in weapon editor, but again, a tedious process creating a ton of new weapons... I've added/augmented something like 42 models to SFG and I've never come across this problem before... Guess it has to start somewhere.
  17. Hey, don't worry if people take issue with you making fictional skins, just do what you want. I like the sounds of what you're planning. I've been using photoshop for my skinning monstrosities and the only thing I can tell you to look out for is that sometimes PS has issues with rxmp textures, rarely, but enough to be a pain in the ass when it does occur. I'm looking forward to seeing what you produce. I'm very much into making fictional skins myself because I find Sqn skins, like you see for the USN, USMC etc partularly boring because I like variety, but I'm not a serious simmer so I don't want that level of realism and fictional skins are much more creative I believe. Can't wait to see your JASDF Mig 29 skin!
  18. Yeah, Knowledge DB was the first place I went but I didn't see (or must have missed) anything on this particular problem. that's why I posted. I reckons this ought to be it though...
  19. Righto, it still doesn't work. I'm positive the entry in the data.ini is the only place that stipulates what weapons types can be used for the aircraft, right? I was able to get the WP faction to work but for now I think I'll just have to clone the weapons with the weapons editor to add them. I was just thinking, would the avionics.ini have anything to do with this particular problem? I know it allows the propper use of weapons with an model (ie actually being able to use a guided bomb/missile or not), but it wouldn't prevent weapons from different nation types being used on a model would it?
  20. I've got this exact same prob for SFG at the mo, only thing is I can't get it to work and it's driving me I didn't realise this one was already up otherwise I would have posted here instead...
  21. This is an example of one of the hardpoints I'm using: [sparrowStation1] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=1 StationGroupID=1 StationType=SEMI_RECESSED AttachmentPosition=-0.465,1.631,-0.315 AttachmentAngles=0.0,2.5,2.0 EjectVelocity=0.0,-2.0,0.0 MissileRollAngle=46.0 LoadLimit=230.00 <<-------------Normally I'd change just to ensure the edit works AllowedWeaponClass=SAHM AttachmentType=Soviet,WP <<--------I removed USA,NATO and replaced with Soviet to begin with MinExtentPosition= MaxExtentPosition= When I first changed everything to soviet, I left the FTs alone because I like the asthetic, but the other hard points wouldn't carry a thing. when I added the Warsaw Pact option I got access to the R-27 Alamo (+B,C,D) and the PL-7 Thunderbolt. I've just checked the weaponsdata.ini to see if the R-73 or R-77 are exported and they are... It seems to be just the WP weaps. Oh, before anyone asks, yes, I'm flying the Tommy during the correct year when the missile should be in service. Been caught out by that before... :blush2: Does it matter what order the names go in, like USAF,USN,SOVIET etc? or if the nation name is case sensitive?
  22. When making different personal variants of models I've noticed that a lot of aircraft have multiple attachment types (shock horror ) eg, the recent sweet assed Viggen: [LeftFuselageStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=2 StationGroupID=2 StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-0.9720,0.0745,-0.8730 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=500 AllowedWeaponClass=BOMB,RP,SAHM,EOGR,IRM AttachmentType=SWEDEN,UK,USAF -------------------------------------------Right here ModelNodeName=Pylon_L PylonMass=21.75 PylonDragArea=0.02 LaunchRailNodeName= Now, normally, I've got no problem with editing this. 9 times outta 10 I get it working with no fuss but lately I was trying to equip an IRIAF Tomcat with Purely Soviet weaponry and as a result I can't add anything. All I did was edit the highlighted section above to restrict it to "Soviet" attachments (sometimes increasing the loadlimit to make sure the weapon can be carried) but I've missed something. What is it I'm missing here. I had the same problem attempting to add R-73s to the F-5E. I'm getting the vibe that American and Soviet weapons can't be used on the same aircraft, or maybe the same hard point.
  23. Sucks you can't find anyone to help you out. I'm trying to learn 3DSM and Photoshop as quick as I can but...
  24. I noticed the F-19 stealth fighter has the same problem. With that particular model I found I could cruise to target somewhere between 70-76% thrust (can't remember when the AB kicks in) and be fine but prolonged combat would see me burn when I RTB. Never could quite find the threshold with this... This has gotta be said though. This Talon model is outstanding considering it's only a beta. To quote Isamu Dyson from Macross Plus "Even the way it burns up is impressive!"
