Parani Mig-19S
NeverEnough replied to whiteknight06604's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
The MiG-19S is a stock plane with the Thirdwire flight sims. You just have to add a cockpit to make it flyable. The MiG cockpits are available for download here at CombatAce. -
JAS 39C Gripen Progress
NeverEnough replied to Gux's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Hey Gux, she is beautiful!!!! -
All the heavy lifting has been done for you by our friends at the Mirage Factory. Go to Checksix-fr and download the C6_MegaPack. The F-18BA (Blue Angel) in the Objects file has the complete soup to nuts Avionics70 cockpit. It looks good and works great. Use the F-18BA Cockpit Folder, Avionics.ini, F-18BA.ini. You can rename them, or keep the original file names so you can remember where the files originally came from. Consider your problem solved! Its a big file download, but has some tweaks and aircraft you won't find anywhere else.

It is difficult to believe that First Eagles was only first released in November! Thanks for all the contributions, you folks are incredible!

I think it is available after registering at Bortdafarm's site. There is a thread about it at SimHq.

We NEED DFWC1 Flight Model Update!
NeverEnough replied to Bandy's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
If I remember correctly, Bortdafarm's DFWC1 used the original DFWC5 model and data.ini files with some adjustments in maybe weight, power and speed values. Probably the best and most timely fix would be extract the Patch 2 DFWC5 data.ini file and change the speed, weight and engine power figures to the values in the original data.ini from Bortdafarm's mod. You could do a line by line comparison on the aerodynamic values, but even if you find some differences they may no longer be relevant to the post Patch 1 flight model. After Patch 1, it was difficult to make the DFWC5 player flyable due to some significant changes in the flight model. I've got it workable, but it can get pretty funky for no particular reason. -

Hey Wrench: Nice Meteor!!!! Wow, you're really churning out some really nice stuff. Thanks for all the WW2 skins and updates, they are much appreciated. -
Hey Charles , Capun and Team: Thanks so much for your newest addition to the FE experience, the Sopwith Dolphin. As far as the debate about how many guns it should have, I've always been a strong believer that one can never have too many guns!

Tornado F3
NeverEnough replied to peterbezemer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The Tornado package you got at Avsim is an old model that had lots of unresolved bugs. Take a look in the downloads section here at CombatAce for the new Tornado package based on the Armour Dave model. Great looking plane, and it actually works! -
If you change the MaxControlSpeed= value under the Control Surfaces section of the Data.INI to the same speed as the MaxSpeedSL= value, it will pretty much takes care of the Albatros' reluctant dive input.

To both ElmD and Tex Murphy, Great design and development job! Wow, you guys brought this bird from idea to final product in an amazingly short and efficient period of time. Thanks for all your efforts.....

Here is some additional information on the MaxControlSpeed function from Kreelin, the Strike Fighters Flight Model Major Guru, over on the Thirdwire forums: "MaxControlSpeed = The max speed where the component is working at 100 %. Above this speed, it starts to be "freezed" slowly LockOutSpeed = The speed where the component will be "locked" completely..." Thanks for all the additional input, folks!

Pulling all the skins I have up here
NeverEnough replied to Firecage's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
I'm disappointed that Firecage is pulling all his skins, but not surprised given the changes in attitude by a vocal minority over the last several months. I don't know if FE has attracted the attention of unsettled souls from other sims, but the whole environment in the Thirdwire community has taken a serious nosedive. Hopefully these nattering nabobs of negativity will lose interest, and go on to muck up some other solar system far, far away..... Thanks Firecage for all your efforts and contributions! -
A 3 Pack of DR1 skins

The file extracted just fine for me. Thanks for the skin pack, Firecage! -
DH Venom Update
NeverEnough replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Thanks for all the work on the Venom update and new cockpit. Used the Meteor pit prior to your new adapted Spitfire cockpit, and really like the new one much better! If you use your hat switch to look all the way back and down to both the left and right sides, you'll end up looking through the wing roots at your rockets and the ground. In the Venom_Cockpit.INI file changing Position=0.0,1.65, 0.70 to Position=0.0,1.65, 0.925 will fix it! P.S. Wrench, how do I get the Mig-28MF Top Gun pilot skin to show in my Red Air planes? All your other pilot skin packages have always worked like a champ, but no luck getting the Mig-28MF pilot to show! -
Love the stock Albatros DVA and the A-Team D3, but they both have really poor lateral response. Turns out the A-Team D3 data.ini is almost a direct copy of the stock DVA data.ini. In the Data.ini's MaxSpeedSL=51.39 meters per second (114.95 mph). Under the Control Surfaces section (just below the engine data portion) MaxControlSpeed=45.35 meters per second (101.44 mph) for the elevators and 44.38 meters per second (99.28 mph) for the ailerons and rudder. I changed all these values to the same as the MaxSpeedSL=51.39 meters per second (114.95 mph), and suddenly the planes become pretty damn responsive! I fail to see why you would lose control authority on the control surfaces at a speed just barely above what would now be considered a stall speed. Normally as airflow over aerodynamic surfaces increases, it generates more lift. These planes can't fly fast enough to generate compression as they approach the speed of sound, so why reduce control authority at more than a fast walk? If you like the Albatros, give the data.ini changes a spin. You'll like it!
