Irans new Fighter - Qaher 313
MigBuster replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
New Autopilot now being implemented -
Yeah the T-38 was from the same program - the single seat version was already there - they just developed the A/B a bit further before getting the MAP contracts - a few subtle differences. F-16 was the low cost counter to the F-15 according to the Fighter Mafia

Convair F-102A Delta Dagger (The 'Deuce') for the "Strike Fighters 2" Series by Veltro2K Revised 3D model and fixes by FastCargo Original F-106 cockpit by Kesselbrut & Pasko with F-102A mods by Ordway Loading & loadout screens by Wrench Data.ini/FM inputs - Column5 196FIS skin - PappyChkSix 460FIS, 431FIS, 509FIS skins by 331KillerBee 57FIS, 176FIS, 317FIS skins by XRay ============== SF2 updates, other changes MiGBuster and Ravenclaw (July 2009) The F-102A was the first of Convairs great 'delta twins'. Its radical shape was unique in USAF service while its speed and powerful weapons capability made it the backbone of Air Defense Command. Its high profile front-line days were relativly short-lived, but the 'Deuce' had a long career which took it to Vietnam and Beyond (1963 - 1969). New Style Vietnam war
MigBuster replied to Gulfwarfighter's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
1 & 2 Yes you can do a ground war - you need to define nodes that each enemy/friendly ground forces advances or retreats to - you should see an example at the bottom of a _campain.ini. The amount of nodes/paths you can have isn't much so don't go too wild. 3 Yes you can add more forces 4. The campaign will run on until strategic ground objective is reached - or max missions has occurred for example. -
Sorry Irans is not included

start time campaign
MigBuster replied to slick cowboy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Hmm - which campaign is this - only used the dates myself. Does the first player mission start at a random time after the start time of the campaign? Or can the aircraft you are using fly at night (as per jets data.ini) ? -
Vietnam expansion work around?
MigBuster replied to DukeIronHand's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Yes you can manually edit the campaign.ini and campaign_Data.ini - and the alternative line is one option. -
Really sorry Dave - my condolences to you and the family. I hope he has found peace now.

Too right - the MiG-23/27 in the first post looks like its just fired some Rockets! -
Refueling (not A/A) and reloading countermeasurements
MigBuster replied to betterstranger's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
There was a way to refuel in SF1 (YAP2 uses it) - although needed individual aircraft edits - but a I believe that loop was closed in SF2 at some point. As for expendables nope. -

Maybe - sounds like the sort of stuff you find on Ministry of Sound chilled dance music compilations.
-
That's brilliant - bodes well for the future with techniques like this - especially if it cuts down dev time.

not looked into it much - but common thinking here is that they had to get full air superiority so they could then take out the RN with impunity.

Well yes all A-G - however a pilot does state he strafed an unknown IrAF aircraft sitting at Balad.

Flying at M3 / 80kft with a massive afterburner plume out the back of it I suspect the F-12 would have been as detectable as the SR-71 (aka very). Then at that altitude detecting smaller very low flying targets in ground clutter is a massive issue despite the pulse doppler tech that had come about. You might have had to put radar and IRST on the bottom of the jet to keep any lower targets in sweep considering the closing speed etc. Easy to see why the YF-108/12 was scrapped because the concept could only be used for recon or high altitude bomber interceptor (also see MiG-25 v Iran & Israel in the 80s). In OIF in 2003 most of the aircraft in theatre used their guns (even F-14s). The 77th EFS (F-16s) fired over 7000rnds - some of that was literally when they were out of other ordnance - so they are still used - although suspect a show of force can be effective in some situations for a/c without them.

Will SF2 be compatible with Oculus rift?
MigBuster replied to Rends's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Somebody has claimed to get it working with a dev model I assume: Just in case anyone is interested I have managed to get all the SF2 series games working perfectly with the Oculus Rift with only very minimal hacking! You basically need 2 bits of software, Opentrack 2.0 which is free for the headtracking and Nthusim HMD early access build which takes care of the image split, Nthusim site here:- http://www.forums.nthusim.com/viewforum ... 62b71521fc It only in 2D for the moment as Nthusim are still working on the 3D side of things but the experience is really immersive and very playable, flying the Lightninig and Hunter in VR is something I've dreamed of doing for years! Only hacks I had to make were in the options.ini to set the Aspect Ratio to 1.00000 (this is due to a bug with the latest build of Nthusim) and I then hacked the head motion yaw and pitch limits for each aircraft so you can turn your head wherever you want which feels much more natural, I used the following limits:- MaxYaw=210 MinYaw=-210 MaxPitch=180 MinPitchFront=-90 MinPitchRear=-90 If anyone is interested I can do a full write up of how to get it all working, it really is very easy though and I can also upload the hacked aircraft files to drag and drop if anyone really want them? Enjoy! Des PS I also got AeroflyFS and Xplane 9 & 10 working with the Rift now!
