  1. Hello everyone, I actually think it is more flexible and practical to go with 'HUD'methods for shoot cue. I am getting used to adjusting and udnerstanding the conversation between 256 to 'HUD size" in-game. Despite that the gunisght become less bright, it is only for IRM / AAM though. Other than that, the HUD is back to being bright. Here is screenshot of A-4s and Mark 8 gunsight When having a lock on MiGs with AIM-9B, the inner circle moves to MiGs ti infor me that there is missile lock: It is still more 'immersive' this way, therefore "lore friendly' ways of implementing accessbility. This is awesome! I also realize that I can re-adjust the seat position so the gunsight does not appear beyond the reflector glass. Eagle114th
  2. Hello everyone! Here is updated gunsight, one is realistic and another is bright version, based on A-4s and F-8s gunsights: And based on the actual picture, noticed htat the gunsight is tilted a little darker Here is the result with deafult (bright) gunsight Anothe version with realistic gunsight Inside the cockpits, there are two options to choose for gunsights while it is defaulted to bright recticle. Thank you Wrench, EricJ, and Daddy airplanes for the advice> From now on, for any gunisghts that seem difficult to see with realistic colors / brightness, I will make two version, one with default (bright) and realistic. Cheers!
  3. @Wrench @EricJ @daddyairplanes That makes perfect sense. Here is what I realized and decided to do this methods by default: Use bright yellow like used on another gunsight. This will be deafult for all sights. For anyonoe who want more realistic gunsight colors, there will be an optional folder to replace deafult gunsight. I, personally, prefer playability too. All of your feedback are excellent and very helpful. Ironically, I am in the same shoe as you all are, I have some challenges seeing certain things and I love the ywllow gunsight colors too. by the way, Wrench, amY I ask for your advice on cockpits since you have tons of experiences with it. I posted it (how to clone instrunment and change posiiton). By the way, I am also looking into adding the 'tilt' color to gunsight glasses. If it works well, I can consdier appplying it on another plane, if it helps wwith seeing gunisght even better, any thoughts on that? Cheers! Eagle114th
  4. Hello everyone, MiG-15 new gunsight is being worked on, there are two colors. I am still thinking of which one to go with. Eagle114th
  5. Thank you. I am almost there. I posted the question here: I am trying to clone the instrument (light) so it can be used as weapon shoot cue, rather htan to using an exiisting caution light. If it works, I can finally apply it on all early cold war aircraft. Eagle114th
  6. Hello everyone, I hae a questiona bout cockpit, I am very confused about the position_X/Y/Z and other codes under it. After successfully used one of an existing light as shoot cue for early cold war aircraft, you can see my post here: I would like to ask for advice on this. Currenlty what I did is making a copy of CAUTION light at last part of the list, matching the incrementing numbers: Then added this codes: I would like to leave the light setting intact since it is already functional as shoot cue for any AAMs, including IRM. What I wanted to do is to move them by X, Y, and Z, then if possible, re-size them. Thank you Eagled114th
  7. Hello everyone! I managed to implement two methods of firing cue for IRM! Took me a while to figure out and many testings. First method - Cockpit instructment. Since I would require to have max file for cockpits to add an extra insructment, so instead of that, I thought what if I could take over one of insstrument and turn it into "shoot cue". It worked perfectly! There are two caution lights, so I used one of that and changed the codes: Here is screenshot: See the light that turns on when IRM is armed! This is more lore friendly, semi-realistic in experiences inthe 40s - 60s tech. However, the second methods I did, as suggested by Falcon (Thank you!) By studying A-7C which still uses avionics60.dll, I am able to implement 'firing cue' while keeping the original gunsight. However, unfortunately, the gunisght seem to be less visiblity, more 'transparent' instead of orignial bright gunisght, making it a little difficult to read. this is the codes I used from "HUD' part: Screenshot: After experimenting with both methods, I find method #1 to be more simple and solid. However I am going to do further experiment by seenig if I can make a copy of 'CAUTION" light and, re-size and move it to left or right side of HUD, on the cockpit frame, that way the original caution light are left intact functional as caution lights. I woudl like feedback on bothth methods please. Cheers! Eagle114th
  8. That is awesome! Please let us know what you find more from the experiment. It would be incredible if all early era cold war have this feature as optional too.
  9. Excellent! I am happy to read that and hope it works as we hope. We all help each other and share the knowledge together. Let's rock and roll with our moddings! Cheers!
  10. Hello everyone, I think I am getting closer to the solution; By flying A-7C I noticed that it uses Avoinics60.dll which is what I need for early cold aircraft. It have a symbol on HUD that would lock on plane if IR have the lockon target. THAT is what I needed. Right now I am looking through which .tga that is used for locking on plane with IRM and study the cockpit.ini and other files to see how to activate that on F-89D / H / J cockpits. UPDATE: BINGO! I think I have found it, here is codes from A-7C Eagle114th
  11. AH YES! I remember now, the diamond that appear inside the box. In SF2, I believe it is part of Avionics70.DLL You are genius! I am going going through various aircraft that have 'shoot cue'. I am going to test with both Avionics60 and 70 DDLL and the codes within both. Finger crossed. Cheers!
  12. That have been my experiences for many years in SF1 and SF2 in early cold war aircraft. So therefore, for once and all, I decide to do something about it, then finally, no more "shot and pray' that the IRM already had lock on the targets. This especially make it difficult to experiment with various early cold war IRMs too. Now if "shoot cue" get implemented, it will make the huge difference for me and anyone who can't hear the growing sounds in-game.
  13. That means, adding or editing instructment is out of questions, therefore I need to look into editing HUD instead and see fi Ican find a way to add "shoot cue" for IRM. Thank you for the notes about the requirement of editing max file for instructment.
  14. Thank you for the reply! Can you explain more about "diamond"? And which aircraft is it used on? I awnt to study their HUD / cockpit.ini files and see if I can implement it on early cold war aircraft, such as F-89 as an example.
  15. Taht is noted. I want to add, I think I remember that in Mirage III series, there is light on right part of HUD, on the frame. When SARH and IR get lock on, green light goes on. I thikn it works with IRM too? We could look into Mirage III cockpits too.
  16. Hello everyone! I have a question about the cockpit.ini ediitng. I want to add the 'shoot cue' taht tells me that IR and any kind of AAMs are locked and ready to be fired at enemy targets. The reasons of this is because the early cold war AAMs rely on the growling sounds for IR AAM as an example. I am deaf, so I can't tell if IR version of AIM-4s or AIM-9B and other IR are locked. so to overcome this issue, I want to do soemthign creative with it that still is 'lore friendly' or make it somehow seem like sem-realistic in an 'immersive' experiences without using modern avionics. What I am thining about is either; Have gunsight recticle change symbosl or colors when AAM is locked on targets. Which codes do I need, in order, to add in the cockpit.ini? If you have another idea I could use, please post here. I am also making this for anyone else who need it too. It wil be part of 'accessiblity' optional files in Avionics packs I am currently working on. Thank you. Eagle114th
  17. Hello everyone, here is corrected N-=9 optical sight: In-game
  18. Hello Crusader! THank you for the feeedbck and guide. I am looking forward fixing the N-9 Optical sight. The next version of alpha will have corrected N-9 Sights. Cheers!
  19. Hello everyone, F-89J radar scope new texture is now completed. Please note that F-89H will use F-89D's radar scope texture as placeholder. Same thing with both F-89H and J using F-89D's N-9 optical sight as placeholder. The redar texture is based on this image from F-89J flight manual: And the photo: Eagle114th
  20. Hello everyone, The first version of SF2 ACP alpha v0.1 is now released. the link can be found in the first post. I am continuing to work on F-89H / J and series of A-1. I plan to work on F-102s and 106s series after that. Please give me feedback on ACP mods. Thank you for enjying the mods and cheers! Eagle114th
  21. Hello everyone, What took me long time to at least finish one aircraft:s avionics and cockpit is due to researching and searching for the data on the radar. THe first step into any kind of projects is always the challenigng part.. When I get used to it, it will smoother. What i realized is that, an airborne radar from early era of cold wars are almost impossible to find, the specs of it. However, the only way I can find it is through aircraft manual. Unfortunatley I do not have all aircraft manual, such as T.O. 1F-89H-1A and T.O. 1f-89J-1A, so any radar data not yet obtained is an educcated guess based on the evolutionary and understanding the base functions of the radar. I always ledarn new things everyday. However, fortunately I am able to get the hand on F-89D manual that have information on Hughes E-9 ~ AN/APG-40 ~ AN/APA-84 FCS / Radar / Computer. This is WIP of F-89D with new N-9 optical sight and radar scope. Please note, unlke A-1C gunsight, N-9 is stationary opitcal sight that is used as back up, in case the radar is not operational. 22. UPDATE: To my surprise, there is a way to add radar cluster effects for early cold wawr aircraft radr with does not have "lok down" capability. I am experimenting with it:
  23. Hello everyone! It have been quite busy and interesting research about the old radars. The specs and detailsa bout old radars, such as AN/APG-33 and another are challenging to ffind. I had to use an educated guess after finding a few specs on it, especially when readinga bout the sexperiecnes of pilots with AIM-4s and other ordiannces. This is E-1 + AN/APG-33 which is even older compared to Hughes E-9 FCS. According to P-89 manual, the radar range can be switched between 30,000 and 25,000 yards I believe. Therefore the avionics file was open and it requires a lot of thinking and researching. the very last resort I can use after being uanble to find further details on AN/APG-33 is war thunder information, such as radar search angle limitation and other data. I am continuing to improve the semi-realism experience with old radar and it is not perfect. At least, the radar is not as powerful as F-4 radar. WHat I did with avionics: Tweaked the setting of radar, reduced range to 12 and 15 nm, made the radar search power not as powerful as F-4, takes longer time to search then track, along with another changes. The radar symbols werre-adjusted so there are far fewwer symbols, and no horizontal bar until F-89D with E-6 and AN/APG-40. When F-89s, F-8s, A-4s, and A-1s are finalized, will release the first version of beta.
  24. Hello everyone! NOTE TO MOD: If there is anything taht is not okay to post here, please infor me and I'll fix the post. I ntend to do this ethtically. It have been a logn time since I started checking adn analyzing dll files. I have learned a lota bout analyzing the files. I think I might have found the way to read DLL file and make the list of functions that is used by each DLL. I created the long list of each functions that is called or used in each DLL files. It is inthe file knwn as DLL FILE INFORMATION.txt You will notice most of DLL have teh same function. However, even though they do have asme fucntion, does not mean they always have the same codes or methods within each functions, theortically. And to confirm this if this is actual function, HxD HEX tools aws used to open one of DLL file, then I realized the fucntion, shows up in 'hex dump' part. For example, for dll file: vionics60.dll Inside the note, you'll see: After doing some research, made the notes (They can be incorrect. I have basic experiecnes with C / C++ / C# and several another programming languages.) Let's pick this fucntion QueryPerformanceCounter By opening Avionics60.dll with hex editor, found this: According to hex, the fucntion do exist in "HEX DUMP" section, which tells me I am probably on the right path. I am going to attempt to find more information on each functions using Ghidra. (Crosses my fingers) Eagle114th DLL FILE INFORMATION.txt
  25. I am doing major updates to Avionics in F-89B to C. Here is WIP screenshot of F-89B cockpit:
