I have been on a bit of a retro kick recently buying lots of those old PC games with full manuals and I was wondering if I can use the SF1 manual with SF2 to re-familiarise myself with the keys. I dont believe SF2 had a physical release...or did it?

I am on win 11, I will re download all 4 files and use 7zip to open then, hopefully this will remove the chance of user error at my end

Hiya, I have downloaded all 4 of the ODS files but i keep getting this message when i try to extract: I am assuming its something with the naming as 2 of the files dont show up as zip files

Oh i have modern joysticks, i just wanted to go the whole retro experience, shy of buying an old PC the game and the joystick are as close as i can get

So i have just bought a Rockfire USB/15 pin adaptor to use with a Thrustmaster Top Gun joystick i bought a while ago. Now the joystick connects and i can see the axis, buttons and hat working on the Game Controller screen, albeit the axis movement is very restricted compare to modern sticks. It seems to work fine with old dosbox games but when I try a slightly newer game it doesnt seem to work right, the axis worked fine in Jane's Fighter Anthology, but in others like Janes USAF and MS Combat Flight Sims 1/2/3 the axis didnt work properly and even did stuff like fire guns or missiles when you moved the stick. So is this just a settings issue, either on the Rockfire adaptor or ingame or is it a fools errand to try and use these old flight sticks today?

So what exactly is SF EXP1 and EXP2? When i click them i get Israel and Europe, are they enhanced versions of those 2? Oh and are there any reasons to use the Europe, Israel or Vietnam shortcuts over the North Atlantic (or NF5) one? Do they do anything different?

So I am looking at one of the RAF Phantom mod packs here and the instructions say to remove original TW aircraft (i have the FG1 dlc as well). What my issue is there seems to be a set of F-4Ks and Ms in almost every folder in the Saved Games section, so do i need to remove the models from every folder i find them in or just from the NA folder as thats the latest expansion?

Ok i know i came across as a bit of an arse, but who here hasnt got annoyed to find something that used to be free and unrestricted is now restricted or behind a paywall? I will pay at some point to do a load of downloading so dont worry

An all in one pack with modern aircraft like the F-15E, A-10C, F-35, F-22, Eurofighter and the latest Flanker variants? Or do i need to download them individually? Which can be frustrating with the 2 download limit

Just installed this mod and the game crashed when i tried Instant Action, Single mission was fine.

Also, since when did you have to pay for the NATO fighters mod? Or is it a glitch? If its not a glitch its a bit of a cheeky thing letting you download the first 2 parts for free and then asking for money

can i just copy my SF2 install folder somewhere or do i need to install a 2nd copy properly?

I remember installing a mod that had loads of new planes and terrains but I cant for the life of me remember what the ting was called and I dont have the original download files Can someone remind me?

Ok so I found an all in one zip file that lets me run USAF fine but I am still having trouble with Janes f/a-18. I have found a couple of guides that look like they work but I cant find a proper copy of the 1.01 patch, the only one i could find was on the PCwiki site but that only has the update.exe and not the replacement f18.exe Does anyone have a proper copy of the patch or even just the patched f18.exe?

Oh and on a related topic, has anyone made an all in one solution for Janes F/A-18?

So I finally found a version of this that runs perfectly on my Win10 PC (one zip file, click the BAT file and it runs), and while I can select widescreen resolutions in the option the cockpit views are stretched. Is there any way to fix this or run the game windowed? It would be frustrating to finally find a version of this I can run and not be able to enjoy it properly

Do we need to uninstall 4.35 or can we just install this over it?

I know there are plenty of communities for specific flight and space sims but are there any multi genre/game communities that cover both...where you can chat and play with all sorts of flight stick fiddlers...be it in F-16s or X-wings.

So I bought a Warthog HOTAS whilst furloughed in 2020...I had been looking at upgrading my venerable TM HOTAS X and had narrowed it down to the Warthog and the X56 (VKB and Virpil were too expensive). I basically went with the Warthog as it was the first to come into stock...Im not a serious simmer btw Now whilst I used it for a while after purchase I havent used it nearly as much as i should have, and after getting a new, smaller, desk i noticed what when using Monstertech desk mounts the stiff centering spring is actually shaking my desk and monitors and im worried that something may break. So i thought about spending a bit of money to fix the situation...get a new spring (may end up breaking the joystick), converting the desk mount to a chair mount (I have a small room to it may get in the way a bit)...in the end i decided it might be the best idea to sell the HOTAS and downgrade to the X56 and not pay any money. So ive put the Warthog on ebay but now im having second thoughts, do i really want to downgrade for free or should i shell out a bit of cash to try and live with the Warthog...and then i thought about upgrading, just selling the Warthog base and getting a Virpil base and using the Warhog grip. As I said above, I am not a super serious simmer so probably wouldnt notice the shortcomings of downgrading but as I am out of work atm I really need to consider if its worth paying more to keep the Warthog or upgrade it. Let me know your thought below, hopefully they will help me make up my mind

Ok i must be being really dense as I cant see an options.ini file anywhere...is it meant to be in the main folder with all the various EXE files or somewhere else? EDIT: oh its IN the saved games folder....that doesnt make sense, shouldnt there be something in the main game folder that points to the save game folder?
