    Small or Empty MOVIES.CDF which contains the Smacker .SMK movies, for Intro, Films and Cut Scenes in Career Mode. Its a known issue that Blank Screens can apeear when the Into Movie is suppose to play. Its a known issue that the game may crash on modern computers when the Cut Scenes try to play. Its a BUG in Microprose EAW Game, even the fixed up GOG type game may crash. -Save 284MB of HD Space for the time being. (copy into your EAW directory, let it overwrite the prevous CDF file). EmptyMoviesCDF (38bytes) by VBH?. A completly empty movies.cdf file. SmallMoviesCDF (2.57MB) by -E. An alternate small movies.cdf file.
  2. Okay here's the first release of it. I forgot to mention in the readme that its hooked for direct input and has a virtual joystick. That will allow you to configure the game flight controls to keyboard and cam to mouse. (I don't think the virtual Joystick if selected in game will work) Its best to stay with keyboard until you get a physical joystick.   3. I don't know if you can import properly the the new profile in an old wrapper version. I wouldn't even bother trying, no use, just DL the same version as noted in my info text included in my profile archive. You extract the new Wrapper in it's own folder, next to the game folder, for easy reference. Run the new wrapper exe Import the new EAWPRO Profile into the new wrapper. You can Delete the old Wrapper folder or keep it for now for testing purposes.   4. DxWnd Wrapper EAW Profiles

    I went to a new version of the Wrapper now as the old version and the settings for EAW where crashing the game. Recent Win10 updates caused some instability and the DXWnd wrapper had some new Win9x game improvements added with bug fixes. I already updated EAWPRO profile, check out VBH's EAWPRO Club forum here at CombatACE to get it. I'm working on select versions of EAW now, if you have a request which version you need improved, let me know. I should get to most of the primary versions soon. I do not currently have 140 or 160 installed, but I do have 1.28 etc installed, should beable to come up with a working profile, but you'll have to double check it after I make it to see if 140 or 160 work properly.

  6. Well I did my homework on this , took about 6 hours off and on. (there always room for improvement though, given the flux in OS and Wrapper revisions) If using the DXWnd wrapper I highly recommend you use the updated wrapper version and this new profile to go with it. The wrapper works back to WinXP, thats one of the updates I waited for in the wrapper, and there are Vista and on improvements for Win9x games. Some of the old settings where crashing EAW, and matching settings where also crashing EAWPRO in the flight screen, flicker on the menu and slightly lower FPS where noticed. Among other technical things that the wrapper debug showed. I cleared the errors that where shown and got rid of some other settings that Win10 did not need anymore due to updates..etc. and bla bla. Now a v1.2 and a EAWPRO profile are not the same, due to some VBH's upgrades in the FXEXE eaw.exe. So I had to add a few to your game and add a few for the 1.2 version seperatly. I will offer updated profiles on request and when I upload the new ones.
  7. eh, I was having drops outs, CTD with no error message, had to debug it, the Wrapper and the new pre set profile. Typically Win10 is still being updated and so is the Wrapper program, (and nothing changed in the EAWPRO itself since last time I updated the profiles . I just been following win10s updates and wrapper programming progress, and there where improves for EAW in General. I just jumped on those improvements and did them with EAWPRO first. So I'm just using less compatibility settings, and other ones, while removeing some others that have caused issues in recent updates. I waited until the wrapper was released with enough areas improved and bug fixed! Anyhow, Its much more stable in current Win10 + Wrapper :) no drop outs no more and a 50 to 64 Frames per second are there, thats for EAWPRO, 1.2x and most likly 1.2 by MPS (have not tested yet). GOG folks are still having new drop outs.

    Really for that monitor, it goes that high. I would go with the 1080 res and adjust the fonts and text size in Win11 accordingly. They also have in at leat Win10 has an eye strain setting, takes the blueish color away for ease on eyes. For a quick setting I think you hold the ctrl key and roll the mouse wheel to adjust the size of things. Place the cursor on the window you want to resize quick., like desktop or browser.

    eh, WindowsOS allows you to set FONT / TEXT sizes, general size overall too. I would set your monitor to native resolution and adjust all the size settings afterward.

  13. oh, that. Yeah I have no shame, I'm more or less saying even though a lot of technical stuff comes sorta easy for me at times, this is an other area that's not racking my brain. Its a projected I was close to being able to do, up to a certain point, but the "short cut" is to have an experienced modeler edit and write up some new text. I'm a believer this can be documented correctly once and for all. I also think once its documented that it can be improved either through programming of the tools or game.....But documenting the methods and therefore the flaws needs to be done first to improve anything. A well, life's a bitch sometimes. :)
  14. What can experienced users tell me about EAW 3DZ modelling, RS and tools? I'm not trying to build anything specific and I don't have a whole lot of time to learn, But highlights would be favorable. Like I know for EAWv1.2 there are specific programs used. I think I have them all. Unfortunately some are DOS , some are WindowsOS usage. I know you plan out the model before you begin using the 3DZ Studio program (which one is best?) How would I keep the RS in check as I add to the model? etc.. Thank you in advanced for the help and tips.

  16. I have played around with the tools and practices of modeling with the provided package, and beyond as I found other tools as well. Even a few I think you disregarded, updates to the 3dz modeling program for example. I don't remember the specifics, but there was a later version, updated by one, that cured a few bugs that you workaround with the older modeling program. Anyhow that doesn't matter. I lost track with the tools, its been a few years since I worked with them, such as archiving, noting etc....... It was Rotton that had some knowledge, but backed out, never replied to me....unfortunately Col. Gibbon had health issues, but he was able to get his files to me before it got super bad, some updated tools that where on the web shortly or whatever.....However, I'll let it go, for now, again unless help arrives ;) Its beyond me to do this alone.
  17. I really want to explore finishing or at least updating this help document. So any help after looking at the my help doc and the current posts above, would be appreciated. I know, its old technology and an old topic but still think some more work needs to be done. I'd even be interested in someone co-editing this help document, since I am virtual in experienced with the modeling process. Help was openly offered at the SimHQ EAW Forum, but when I asked soon after, I never got a reply. I even think I posted some information or questions and instructing the user where to find my current progress on the help doc. Anyhow that fell through, and actually I think was a long time ago, 4 or more years. :)

  19. If you have the GOG release, the Campaign Films (The cut scenes) will tend to crash the game during Career Modes when they go to play the .smk movies. This is true for the standard MPS EAW Game as well, just more common. You can download a 'empty' MOVIES.CDF file and drop it into your EAWv1.2GOG version game folder and it will allow the game to get past the cut scene, by skipping it. Get the Empty Movies.CDF here at CombatACE in the EAW Downloads if you need it. (Its 7-zip so make sure you have that program to un zip it.)

    Thank You, it seems that's what I had already. (Thanks for the installer filename) Hmmm, what the?? Well okay, maybe I'm in error with 128GOG? Do you have that information the same but for v1.28GOG exe? Thanks!

  24. I don't need to research anything specific. Just reading the old forums was fun....you find little issues and someone may have fixed it or today it was fixed. I just never know :) what topic is started back then. CombatSim especially. Those where good archives and had like 3 talented know it all's people on it, heh. Some guy named JWC I think was a very smart person back then, he seamed to know the game well, even though it was new. Like I said aw, well. Next project!
  25. Just wonder what happened to the SimHQ EAW forum archive? I noticed it gone when simhq switch from .com to .net where the archive was stored. I was wondering if they over written it or saved it some place?
