  3. WoI WW2 & Generic Style Screen Set

    Screen Set for WoI: Plane Jane Screens for Generic Usage:

    This is a rather generic set of screens for WoI. They are designed for use in a WW2 type of install, but can be use for any other Version of Wing Over Isreal. Excpeting maybe the main screen and loadinscreen1. Those are WW2 flavored.

    Included in this package are the following screens:

    Debriefscreen.bmp
    Loadingscreen1.bmp
    LoadoutScreen.bmp
    Mainscreen.bmp
    OptionsScreen.bmp
    PlanningMapScreen.bmp
    SingleMissionScreen.bmp

    They've had the IDF backgrounds removed, and use various cloudy sky backgrounds, excepting for the Mainscreen and LoadingScreen1. The Loadinscreen1 uses various and sundry WW2 theatre maps and will be seen where aircraft have no specific Loading Screen called out in their inis. The Mainscreen is a Mercator projection world globe over a Hubble telescope deep space picture.

    These are just a quick and diry fix for those experimentating with WW2 installs, or for those that want a more generic type screen. They are totally based off the stock originals, so need no ini adjustments. All the 'hot spots' for the buttons remain in their usual positions.

    Relatively simple, easy to follow instructions are in the enclosed readme...so, give it a read!

    Have Fun!!!

  4. Windows XP Patched uxtheme.dll for use with WW1 Aircraft Desktop Theme

    XPUxthemeDLLPatch.zip
    This is the part 2 download for the WW1 Aircraft WinXP desktop theme. This is a patched file for windows XP's uxtheme.dll. This isn't necessary to install to make the theme work, but using it will allow the WoodGrain.msstyles file included to change the color scheme of the taskbar, windows frames, etc. to a sort of wood grain pattern that matches the look of the desktop theme. If the patched uxtheme.dll file isn't used to overwrite your original windows uxtheme.dll file, the WoodGrain.msstyles file won't work. The WWI Aircraft theme will still work, just not the color scheme. So, using this patched file is optional. For those who would like to use the patched uxtheme.dll file, I've included an MS Word document that gives explicit instructions on how to replace the stock windows uxtheme.dll file. The only part in the Word document you don't have to follow is where it tells where to go and download the patched file, I've included them in this download. One is for windows with service pack 1 and the other is for service pack 2.

    Here is another Hangar and Loading Screen Pack.

    This time its for the G91-R1 Gina.

    G-91R1 US ARMY skin
    G-91 R1 Skin_51 AB
    G-91 R/1 Skin_5 AB

  16. A-7E Hangar and Loading Screen Pack

    Here is another HL pack this time for the A-7E Corsair II.

    The ultimate goal is to use these packs in the campaign I am developping, therefor you will also require this skin: Hellenic Corsair.

    Installation is easy:
    1/ download the addon aircraft
    2/ download the extra skin
    3/ extract the files of this pack to the aircraft folder (overwritting the A-7E.ini, necessary to allow swapping between hangar and loading screens)

    For further details and explenation of this technique of using multiple screens can be found in the enclosed readme.

    This is another Hangar and Loading Screen Pack, this time for Wrench's Hellenic Air Force F-104G.

    Installation follows the same easy steps:
    1. add the files to the appropriate aircraft directory
    2. overwrite the aircraft ini file
    3. edit the aircraft ini file to display the hangar and loading screen you want. I set the default to the camouflaged F-104G

  19. Mirage F-1C Hangar and Loading Screen Pack

    Here is another Hangar and loading screen pack. This time its base on the Mirage Factory Mirage F.1C Addon v1.5.

    I am working on a campaign, using these screen packs since its much easier for users to download and install the screen pack instead of having to meddle around in the files themselves.

    Again installation is quite easy, provided you have already installed the Mirage Factory aircraft. Simply drop the screens and adapted aircraft ini file in the aircraft folder (...\Objects\Aircraft\F-1C\) and you're ready to go.

    I set the default loading and hangar screen to the French Air Force, but those of you who prever flying with the Spanish or Greek air force can select their screens instead, just read the readme on how to switch between screen.

  20. AV-8B Harrier II Plus Hangar and Loading Screen Pack

    Bobrock has made an excellent AV-8B Harrier II Plus.

    With his kind permission I created this Hangar and Loading Screen Pack, using the textureset method I developped. If you wish you can now display a loading screen for each of the skins he provided with the aircraft or use the default screens he created.

    As usual the pack is quite simple to install as long as you already have installed Bobrock's plane. Simply unpack the different screens in the pack and drop them in the AV-8Bplus folder alongside the edited aircraft ini file. I have set the US marines skin as default for the hangar and loading screen. For more detailled instructions on the textureset technique, see the enclosed readme.

  21. Mirage III Hangar and Loading Screen Pack

    This is a set of hangar and loading screens for the Mirage Factory Mirage IIIE.

    Just like the F-16XL Hangar and Loading Screen Pack, it is possible with a small manual edit, to swap easily between different loading and hangar screens.

    To fully benefit from this pack you should also download:

    A Mirage 2000 skin for the Mirage IIIE
    the Skyfighter movie skin

  22. F-16XL Hangar and Loading Screen Pack

    1. Introduction
    ===============

    When downloading addon aircrafts and new skins I always felt a bit dissatisfied with the hangar and loading screens supplied by their makers.
    Not that they were wrong are bad, I simply don't like real-life pictures as either hangar screen or loading screen.

    Furthermore, I did not like that their is no match between the aircraft skin you choose and the loading and hangar screen you get to see.
    So I set out to find an easy way (within the confines of the simulation) to find a quick and easy way to get a match between the selected skin, hangar screen and loading screen.

    I figured out a way, by working with standardized filenames. The only disadvantage is that you need to select the appropriate hangar screen/ loading screen manually.
    But I suppose that most people fly in campaigns so it should be easy to set this up before you launch the simulation.

    2. How does it work?
    ====================

    First of all, you need to download yourself the addon aircraft and skins (don't worry I'll supply you with the appropriate links later on).

    Secondly extract this pack to a temporary file/directory, where you will find several files in this pack:
    Aircraft.ini file
    TextureSetXXX_Loading.bmp
    TextureSetXXX_Hangar.bmp
    (with XXX being replaced by incremental numbers)

    Each TextureSet file corresponds with the Textureset-entry of the same number in the aircraft ini.

    Copy these files to your aircraft directory: \Wings Over Europe\Objects\Aircraft\aircraftdirectory\.
    Only your aircraft.ini file will be overwritten, but that should not be a problem unless you have other skins installed then those mentionned in this readme.

    If you open the aircraft.ini file, you will notice that its an exact match with the original aircraft.ini file except for a few edits in the [AircraftData]-section and with the entries for the skins already added.
    The entries in the [AircraftData]-section should look like this:
    // original authors settings
    HangarScreen=...
    LoadingScreen=...
    //KingAlbert settings
    //HangarScreen=TextureSetXXX_Hangar.bmp
    //LoadingScreen=TextureSetXXX_Loading.bmp

    Now the double /-symbol indicates to the simulation must ignore that line. So the only thing you have to do to select the hangarscreen and loadingscreen is remove the /-symbols in front of the line. Keep in mind that all other hangar and loading lines need to be preceded by a // otherwise the simulation will use the first instruction.

    I kept in the original authors selection so you can easily revert back to his selection.

    3. requirements
    ===============

    You need a legal copy of one of the many Thirdwire Sims (WOV, WOE, WOI).
    I only tested this pack in Wings over Europe, but I guess it should work fine in any of the other version.

    4. Installing this pack
    =======================

    1) download and install the addon aircraft.
    Location: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5011
    2) download and install additional skins
    remember, you don't have to edit the aircraft.ini file yourself, I included a copy as part of this pack.
