First Eagles - WWI and Early Years - Skins

This skin set depicts the Albatros D.II D.910/16 (OAW) flown by Lt. Max Bohme with Jasta 5 in late 1916 until 3 March 1917, when it was shot down and taken into Allied hands. This aircraft was made under license by OAW, and the camo differs from the Albatros and LVG built aircraft. There is a relatively good photographic record of this aircraft, particularly the fuselage, but questions remain regarding some details. The files attached include loading and hangar screens.
 
The personal fuselage markings, wing and fuselage colors and national markings all closely depict the reference aircraft. There are several known flaws: (1) the prop displays as metal, rather than wood; changing that would also have required wood struts but the original struts were grey painted, since we see those more than the prop before it spins, the choice was easy; (2) the cowl is brighter and more “metallic” than I would prefer, but limitations in the original skin do not permit a more subdued display; (3) there are certain variations and gaps in the colors, again forced by the form and fit of the original bitmaps. There may be others. All skins, indeed all models are at best approximations, and despite extensive reprogramming, my time machine still fails to boot up properly.

An adaptation of the Albatross D3 cockpit from the First Eagles Expansion pack is included. The cockpit mod will not work unless you have the expansion pack. If you do not have the expansion pack yet, you can still use this skin with the original. All you need to do is go into the AlbDII.ini file and modify the lines which now look like this:

In response to requests, I have included alternative national markings. This version has a bright white surround around the national markings. If you prefer a “smudged” darker white surround, edit the decal.ini entries from INSIGNIA006T to read INSIGNIA006.
 
The FM was done by Peter01 and is intended for use without the April 08 patch.
 
In addition to the skins, there a sound file which was recorded from a running Mercedes engine to be dropped into your Sounds folder. If you prefer the original sound, simply change the lines in the data.ini file which refer to “PropLoopMercedes” to “PropLoop”. That is the only change I made to the FM.
As usual, place the skin folder in the AlbDII folder and select it in the loadout screen to fly the skin.
 
This skin set is part of a series presented to acknowledge the dedication and continuing hard work of Peter01 who has given us outstanding flight models for so many aircraft for First Eagles. Without his work, this model and many others would be just pretty pictures.

The September 15 update changes only the decal set. The earlier version runs AOK as White 8 but included files which corrupted the decals used with the Jasta 5 default set. Of course these are intended to be used together. A separate download of just the decal set will be posted for those who do not want to DL the entire file set. Sorry about that!

This is a generic skin for the Sopwith Pup.
It is a skin of 3 Naval Sqn "C" flight.
It uses random Letters and serial numbers.
 
This skin will go along with the previous posts of Naval 3's MILDRED, BETTY, and HAPPY.
It will create a whole flight.

This aircraft was a hand down from Jasta 11 originally
piloted by Ltn von Conta.
 
It was then piloted by Ltn Hans-Joachim von Hippel
and Vzfw Josef Mai both of jasta 5.
 
I chose to use Vzfw Josef Mai as the pilot.

This download contains a generic skin pack of Sopwith Triplanes of 10RNAS "A" Flight.
 
The Triplanes will have red noses, red wheels, and red tails.
They will also use the stock numbers and letters that are selected at random.
This color scheme is somewhat accurate.

A companion to the default set for the Strutter, this is a high resolution2048 x 2048 skin set for C Flight. There three flights, A,B, and C with six planes in each flight. The serial numbers are correct for the Squadron, but apart from B2 and B 6, I have not been able to conclusively tie the serial numbers to the individual flight aircraft.

Some Fokker Dr.1 skins made by quack74 were made before the October patch and had permanent markings. I removed the markings so the Dr.1's can now use the game generated markings. This download includes All those Dr.1 skins Clean. NO markings.
Just copy and paste the new files. Overwrite when asked.

This is a Representation of Alb.D.Va 7024/17 of Ltn. Martin Demisch (10 Victories), Jasta 58. Ltn. Demisch proved adept at Balloon Busting, accounting for 5 of his total victories. He was later shot down by SE5as of 40 Sqdn. on 24 Sep 1918 near Abancourt.

The pilot was Franz Hemer.
 
Known for his long blonde hair, he used a long wavy blonde line on the
sides of his Dr.1 as his personal identification.

This Sopwith Triplane "N534" served w 1RNAS in France 1917.
Had a personal marking of an "F" on the vertical stabalizer.
And two thick white stripes on the fuselage. As well as one on each horizantal stabalizer.

This skin depict the SPAD XIII C1. Flown by Lieutenant Harvey Weir Cook of 94th Aero Squadron. 
Ft. Alexander, Koblenz, Germany. April of 1919.
Lieutenant Harvey Weir Cook achived 7 confirmed victories in WW1, flying with 94th Aero Squadron.
The pilots of the 94th Aero Squadron decided to paint their SPAD XIIIs. In an attempt to outdo one another they came up with what were termed the "showbirds". The planes were painted up for the April 1919 Air show at Koblenz. 
During the Spring of 1919, "Lightning Bolt" took part of the "Showbirds" SPADs during the occupation duties in Germany, with more eight colourfull SPADs of 94th Aero Squadron.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS :
This skin do not uses decal files, so will be easy install.
To install this skin and ini file, copy or drop the folder named "Lightning Bolt" in any SPAD 13 aircraft folder that you wish. (it will work with all SPAD 13).

In order to work properly on your loadout menu option, inside the "Lightning Bolt" folder, there is a TXT file that you must open and COPY the content into your SPAD13_XXX.ini.

This skin depict the SPAD XIII C1. Flown by Lieutenant Dudley "Red" Outcalt of 94th Aero Squadron.

The pilots of the 94th Aero Squadron decided to paint their SPAD XIIIs. In an attempt to outdo one another they came up with what were termed the "showbirds". The planes were painted up for the April 1919 Air show at Koblenz. 
During the Spring of 1919, "Barber Pole" took part of the "Showbirds" SPADs during the occupation duties in Germany, with more eight colourfull SPADs of 94th Aero Squadron.
This Aircraft flew probablly with Marlin guns, and not with Vickers.

known issues:
Painting the stripes in spirals was a problem because at the end of the tail's aircraft, there is a distortion that pulls all the lines back. I connected the stripes with each other as far as was possible; so you may notice imperfections in the bottom side.
