  4. Alb D.I Otto Hohne

    This skin set depicts Albatros D.I D.390/16 of Lt. Otto Hohne with Jasta 2 at Lagnicourt October 1916. Lt. Hohne was credited with six victories from mid September to mid November 1916. He was wounded in January 1917, and then served briefly as the C. O. of Jasta 2 in early 1918. Hohne flew with the Luftwaffe in WWII, attained the rank of GeneralMajor and died in 1969.

    The files attached include hangar and loading screens.

    Thanks to Gambit168 for making his skin set available as a template, to BortdaFarm for the original model, and to Southside Bucky for advice for improvements. I have included a cockpit adaptation of the Albatross D3 model from the First Eagles Expansion pack. The cockpit mod will not work unless you have the expansion pack. If you do not have the expansion pack yet, you can still use this skin. All you need to do is go into the AlbDI.ini file and modify the lines which now look like this:

    //CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosDII_cockpit.ini
    CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosD3_cockpit.ini

    To look like this

    CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosDII_cockpit.ini
    //CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosD3_cockpit.ini

    (Yes, these references are supposed to read AlbatrosDII not DI). Alternatively you can download the full cockpit mod from CA.

    The FM by Peter01 is intended for use without the April 08 patch.

    In addition to the skins, there a sound file which was recorded from a running Mercedes engine. If you prefer the original sound, simply change the lines in the data.ini file which refer to “PropLoopMercedes” to “PropLoop”.

    This fileset is complete, and includes everyting necessary to load the BortdaFarm Alb DI. If you have other Alb DI skins, place the skin folder in the AlbDI folder and select it in the loadout screen to fly the skin.

    This skin set is part of a series presented to acknowledge the dedication and continuing hard work of Peter01 who has given us outstanding flight models for so many other aircraft for First Eagles. Without his work, this model and many others would be just pretty pictures.

  5. August Hartmann Jasta 30

    Here's a little bit of fun for Halloween.

    I first saw this D.VII marking in a German magazine published in the late 1930s. Later I found it had also been included in a Windsock Datafile Anthology vol III.

    August Hartmann served late in the war with Jasta 30, after that unit had moved on from the Pfalz D.IIIa and the orange diamond markings that are probably better known than the yellow fuselage and tail seen here. Some believe the nose and tail colors were orange because the previous markings featured that color, but a British intelligence officer reported that the fuselage was brown and the nose and tail were yellow.

    After only a few weeks service, Hartman was wounded and never had any confirmed victories, so, you can conclude that the witch either helped or saved him!

    There are two files sets, one for FE and the other for FE2. Just drop the appropriate file set in the Objects folder and you should be good to go. Both the FE and FE2 file sets include Halloween Fokker D7 Loading screens. All you need to do to get rid of them is delete those files. If you have special loading screens for the D7, back those up before installing. If you rely on the stock loading screens, those will reappear as soon as you delete the special Halloween screens.

    Enjoy!

  10. Dr1 - TK model - Alt Red

    Ok 1st skin for me on TK's new planes. Here is an diufferent skin for the Red barons plane with different decals and this one has the lighter underside finish on it. I also did some work to have the orig camo show through a bit more so add some over paint look to it. Didn't fade it through alot but just a bit. Also made the eng cowling the off white as in some photos I have seen on web sites and some models out there.

    Credits to TK and his crew for the original skins of course. :yes:

  12. Dr1 prop Textures

    I got tired of the plane yellow prop on the Expansion Fokker Dr1,so I made these using pictures of wood and a decal from a old model kit I have.You can add them to your Fokker skins using DXTBmp,if you don't have it try a Google search.Here's hoping you have Photoshop or some such photo editing program.I take no responsibility for any problems caused by these addons. 16. Early War German Insignia

    The Maltese Crosses displayed in 1915 and into 1916 were narrow in the body and wide at the tips, this changed in the latter part of 1916 (sorry I do not have access to my library, so I cannot advise as to the exact date). If you want to use this style, just backup the original version and drop the attached file into the skin folder to replace the standard INSIGNIA005 version. That will replace the insignia in only the skin you select.

    The attached screen shot is of the newest version of Borts tremendous Fokker EIII.

    Enjoy!

  17. Edgar Scholts Jasta 11

    This Fokker Dr.1 146/17 is believed to be the mount of
    Rudolf Stark when he flew with Jasta 11
    The color scheme is only speculatory. The true color of the band
    aft of the cockpit and the tailplane tips are not known.
    This is just my version. Looks good anyway. Enjoy

    Edit: Change the Folder name to Scholts J11.
    This was Starks Dr.1, but not with Jasta 11.
    It's a possibility that Edgar Scholts was the pilot of
    Dr.1 146/17 of Jasta 11. Thks to Southside Bucky for the info.
    Hope you still like the skin. If anyone wants a change in color just
    send me a message.

  24. Factory finish Fokker DVII texture by Chock

    For those who prefer their Fokker D VII aircraft not to attract too much attention from the RFC, here is a new texture set for the Fokker D VII in Third Wire's First Eagles sim.
    This repaint is intended to portray a typical Fokker D VII as it would appear after having been at the front for a few weeks, coming direct from the Fokker factory.
    The standard factory finish from the Fokker works was not the lozenge camouflage as many suppose, but a pale blue colour with olive drab streaks, the streaks being applied by semi-skilled workers with nothing more sophisticated than a three inch-wide paintbrush! This led to some widely differing camouflage patterns on Fokker aircraft, although the standard application was supposed to be with vertical streaks on the fuselage and streaks at approximately 45 degrees on the upper surfaces.
    The type designation and serial number on this repaint is spurious, however, it is a reasonable facsimile of the Fokker works designation system, and is one of several ways to identify a Fokker-built D VII from one built under licence by Albatross, examples of which, usually featured a more fanciful font for the serial number stencilling.
    To install this texture in your First Eagles sim, just create a new folder called Factory Finish in your D VII folder and put all the files from this zip dpownload in there. Have fun - Chock
