See readme for more details
The next installment of my effects updates are ready for d/l.
Included is:
-Re-released Aircraft explosion
-SAM Launch Effect
-Small,medium,large bomb effect (Very large bomb effect coming next)
-Naplam effect
-An updated 20mm gun hit effect that I always like to look like HE hits...I like em, if you don't then just get rid of the ini.
-I've also included some sounds I like to use, up to you if you want to use em or not. I noticed that some were missing in the Soundlist.ini, like the cbu explosion, text file shows what needs to be added.
If you are prompted to overwrite any textures, say yes. You did back up your stuff first right?
Note 1:
Some effects might affect you framerate, sorry bout that but they run fine for me so if you get hits, guess it's time to pry open your wallet and buy some current hardware
Note 2:
The WilliePete bomb effect is with Bunyap and should be included once he releases the next weapon pack.
This is a flight model (FM) *ONLY*
From the Readme:
These are flight models for the existing MiG-21MF, and are tailored to work in conjunction with the initial release of Wings over Europe, and with Strike Fighters and Wings over Vietnam patched to SP4 (patch dated 5-16-06).
I suggest you install Mago's latest MiG-21 cockpit package FIRST, and then install this FM file (MiG-21MF_Data.INI), over any previous FMs.
I also suggest that you install and use the Mirage Factory's MiG-21F13, as it will contain some of the necessary sound files (MiGEngine being one of them). Besides, it's a great model!!
The MiGEngine sound file is also in the Sounds Megapack, located here at CombatAce.
Installation:
There are two FMs contained within the zip archive, each in their own folder. One is Wings over Vietnam (WoV) specific, and the other can be used in both Strike Fighters and Wings over Europe. Extract the folders to your desktop, and then drag the MiG-21MF_Data.ini files to their corresponding folders in each game. For example, in WoV, one would place the file in the Wings over Vietnam/Objects/Aircraft/MiG-21MF subfolder. Make sure that the file resides in the MiG-21MF folder, and is NOT nested within a subfolder. That?s it!
Known Issue: MiG-21MFs used blown flaps in real life. As of this writing (May 26 2006), there seems to be an issue with animations not working in SF/WoV/WoE if the value "Manual_With_Blowback" is applied to the flap variables in the flight model.
Credits: Mega Thanks to the members of AIRTEVRON 5 (past and present), particularly to Kreelin and Streakeagle, who were kind enough to share their knowledge of aerodynamics with all of us
I have made this model so you guys can finish it.THIS IS NOT A FINISH MODEL!!!!!
I've decided to post each static aircraft as a complete folder so that the installation process is as simple as possible. I felt that the manual installation in my earlier post was too much work for a lot of people. This way you can pick and choose the statics you want to include in your own missions.
"If you build it, they will come". Well, if you make it easy for people, they will use it.
This posting consists of a Lightning Mk6 complex static/parked aircraft with its canopy raised and a member of the ground crew sitting in the pilot's seat, a sample mission (.msn) file that shows you how to reference static aircraft, and an extract of the optional changes to the VIETNAMSEA_TARGETS.INI (or equivalent) file that you may want to apply.
Thanks, regards, PNT/comrpnt :-)
SMOKE EFFECTS for Strike Fighters: Project 1 and Wings Over Vietnam
Authors:
Saganuay82...Oil Fire effect concept & initial testing
Fubar512.....Oil Fire effect & steamship smoke effect *.ini files
Deuces.......TGA Files & Effects "consulting" : )
Installation:
Place or Extract the follwing files into your SF or WoV Effects folder.
LargeOilFire.ini
MediumOilFire.ini
ShipSmoke.ini
Smoke1.tga
And that's it!
The Oil Fire Effects produce 3-4,000 foot tall pillars of thick, black "oil" smoke, while the enhanced Shipsmoke effect produces a fuller, darker cloud of smoke, such as an oil-fired steam ship might produce.
To Uninstall, simply remove the "offending" file(s) from your effects folder, and the game will revert back to using the original effects.
Extract all of the zip files into your Effects folder with the exception of any sound files, those go into the Sounds folder...tricky eh?
Included:
Afterburner Effect
Dirty Exhaust Effect
Missile Fire Effect
Cluster Bomb Effect (new)
Flak Effect (new)
