    1. Alb DVa Leutnant Walter Böning Jasta 19

      This skin depicts the camo and markings on Albatros D.Va flown by Leutnant Walter Böning with Royal Prussian Jasta 19, his first assignment, where he downed 6 enemy aircraft between April and October 1917. It has often been misidentified as a plane he flew with Jata 76 later in his career. More than one source incorrectly suggests blue and white Jasta 76 markings (and I did a draft in those colors). Greg VanWyngarden and Bob Pearson both hold what I believe is the better view, rendered here, with the yellow and black horizontal stabilizer of Jasta 19 and red trim for the fuselage markings.

    2. Albatros C.III

      The Albatros C.III was a general purpose two-seat plane and was based on the C.I and C.II models. An improved tail structure made it more agile than its predecessors and it was produced in large numbers.

      The plane was armed with a Parabellum machine gun mounted on a pivot in the rear cockpit along with a synchronized machine gun mounted beside the engine. The C.III was used for reconnaissance, aerial photography, and light bombing.

      The gun ring had limited movement, especially in the vertical direction, which I have tried to reproduce in my model.

      I have included two loadouts, one for four 12.5 kilo bombs carried internally, and another for six 12.5 kilo bombs carried externally under the wings.

      I have also included three skinning options - an unpainted standard wood and linen, a light blue paint, and a green paint. All of these are pretty basic so I have included my skinning templates for those who want make their own skins.

      This plane uses the national markings that come with First Eagles, so you can change nationalities to fly for Bulgaria or the Turks.

      I have included decals for serial numbers and for personal markings. These will be applied randomly. Some of the personal markings include crosses, I don't know if that would be appropriate if you're flying for the Ottoman Empire.

      Historical Notes:
      The serial numbers are fictious, but in the correct range for the 1916 Albatros C.III.
      The personal markings are completely fictious, but I think reasonable for German markings early in the war.
      I have not found an example of the Albatros C.III in green paint, but many German planes on the Eastern Front were painted green later in the war, so the color is not unrealistic.
      If historical accuracy is important to you, you can delete the offending files.

      Credits:
      My thanks to Ojcar for making the excellent data.INI file for this plane.
      My thanks to Nix for making the realistic engine sound file for the Mercedes 6 cylinder engine.
      Thanks also to Sinbad, Whitekinght06604, and Wrench who provided me with valuable resouces and information for the cockpit details.

      Installation instructions:
      For FE1: Unzip the file and move the folder named "AlbatrosC3" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Airplanes folder. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder.

      For FE2: Unzip the file and move the folder named "AlbatrosC3" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Airplanes folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "AlbatrosC3". Move the folder named "D" from the Airplanes/AlbatrosC3 folder into the Decals/AlbatrosC3 folder you just made. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder.

    3. Albatros C.III 766/16 Bohme/Lademacher

      The Bohme/Lademacher Dragodiles The markings, logos, and numerals are those that appeared on the Alb C.III flown by Lt. Erwin Bohme and his observer Fritz Lademacher. The evidence available (three photos and the text of a letter from Bohme to his girlfriend) strongly indicate that the Dragodiles were white.

      When I started this project I thought that the beasts might have been a light green or yellow-green.
      It took some time to get it, but after I read the Bohme letter describing the images as “”ghosts” I decided they really were white.

      That is why the default is the ghostly white.

      I still included the less authentic, but more colorful greenies.

      If you prefer the more colorful version, simply delete (or rename) the Decals file, and then copy and rename the"Decals Green Dragodiles" to "Decals".
      Both decal sets are in the folder and should be left there. The green and yellow/green beasts should now appear. If you want to switch back, reverse the process. (That's why you didn't dump the original file!)

      The Wood and Linen Alternative
      This skin set uses the original decals provided by Stephen1918 that generate a varied set of markings derived from original German units and numerals.
      None of the part numbers on the struts, elevators, wings, etc. are adjusted. Please back up your original “Wood and Linen files before using these as they will overwrite the originals. The logo on the prop is the earliest version of the Axial logo. Loading, Loadout and Hangar Screens. The loading and hangar screens are in the main file set along with the skins.

      The loadout screen is in the Menu folder, and will replace the stock loadout screen for all aircraft. If you prefer the original, just delete it. Thanks to Stephen 1918 for a great model!

      All files are set up for use in FE2.
      If you need help getting this package to run in FE1, let me know.

    4. Albatros D. II Robert Dycke Jasta 16b

      This skin set depicts the Albatros D.II flown by Lt.Robert Dycke, of Jasta 16b in late 1916 and early 1917. This aircraft was made under license by LVG, and the camo differs from the Albatros built aircraft. The LVG planes were numbered from D.1024 through 1061, but the actual serial number of this plane is not now known. Photos and all profiles I have seen of the plane do not depict it on the stabilizer. The files attached include loading and hangar screens.

      The personal fuselage markings, lower wing colors and national markings all closely depict the emblems and national insignia on the reference aircraft.
      All skins, indeed all models are at best approximations, and my time machine is still not operational.

      Thanks to Gambit168 for making his skin available as a template, and to BortdaFarm for the original model. This revision of the earlier release is improved and updated thanks to advice for improvements from Southside Bucky. I have included an adaptation of the Albatross D3 cockpit from the First Eagles Expansion pack. The cockpit mod will not work unless you have the expansion pack. If you do not have the expansion pack yet, you can still use this skin with the original. All you need to do is go into the AlbDII.ini file and modify the lines which now look like this:

      //CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosDII_cockpit.ini
      CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosD3_cockpit.ini

      To look like this

      CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosDII_cockpit.ini
      //CockpitDataFile=AlbatrosD3_cockpit.ini

      Alternatively you can download the cockpit mod from CA.

      The FM was done by Peter01 and is intended for use without the April 08 patch.

      In addition to the skins, there a sound file which was recorded from a running Mercedes engine to be dropped into your Sounds folder. If you prefer the original sound, simply change the lines in the data.ini file which refer to “PropLoopMercedes” to “PropLoop”. That is the only change I made to the FM.
      As usual, place the skin folder in the AlbDII folder and select it in the loadout screen to fly the skin.

      This skin set is part of a series presented to acknowledge the dedication and continuing hard work of Peter01 who has given us outstanding flight models for so many aircraft for First Eagles. Without his work, this model and many others would be just pretty pictures.

      The update improves the under surface camo and adds some detail.

    5. Albatros D.I

      The Albatros D.I was the first in a long line of successful Albatros fighters. It had a molded plywood fuselage, which made it lightweight but strong. With its powerful engine and dual machine guns it outclassed any Entente fighters in the air at the time.

      The biggest drawback to the D.I was the position of the upper wing, which obscured the pilot's view. Production quickly switched to the D.II which was basically the same plane but with the upper wing mounted lower.

      The download includes three skins, a basic linen, a grey paint, and a 2 color camo. There is also a full a full set of serial number decals. The skinning templates are identical to the Albatros D.II templates, I have included them in this download for the sake of convenience.

      This plane uses the same engine sound as the Albatros D.II, which you probably already have. I have placed an alternate line in the data file to change the sound to the default "PropLoop" sound if you prefer.

    6. Albatros D.I Pack

      This is a re imagining of my original Albatros DI upload from last week, I wasn't 100% happy with the original skin of the Crown Princes mount, so I decided to tweak and twiddle a little, the result i think is far far better.

      So, included in this package, are the 2 original skins for Prince Von Prueben, both the all over Sea Green, and the version with camouflaged wings and horizontal stabiliser, along with the red and the black alternative Brunswick Hussars motif. As there were only 50 D I airframes produced, as this model was swiftly superseded by the D II the range of markings and schemes are rather sparse, so, the next scheme is my interpretation of the "standard" factory finish, Ply with Camouflaged wings and stabilisers, I have also set the skin to be numbered as this seems to be historically correct, the serial numbers are NOT going to be accurate , but they are aesthetically pleasing, and around the correct range for the time. The last 2 skins are for Jasta 5 machines, in a rather natty all over Green/Brown cam scheme, I am assuming that all the Jastas airframes were painted this way, but as there is scant to no information ( that I have seen ) on early Albatri, one maybe needs to allow for a little artistic licence on my behalf , the last skin though, is what gave me the idea that all Jast 5's D i's were painted as such, this scheme is the aircraft of Karl Spitzhoff, of Jasta 5 , it differs somewhat from the standard jasta schem, in so much as the tail fin was apparently replaced at some time, and was painted the under surface blue, however, the orginal aircraft serial, it appears, was cut and pasted from the original fin, as the serial number is applied over the camo of the original, the bloke who painted the serial numbers was obviously on leave at the time, and the crew chief took the swiftest and laziest option, I personally dont like it, I think it looks naff, so I have included the standard fuselage from the other Jasta 5 schemes in the skin folder.

      There were a few other variations I fancied doing, but a lot of the photos, are a little un clear, and i wasn't convinced they were all D I's but in fact D II's , so I chose not the do those and stuck with what we have.

      OK, so the final bit is, as per the original upload from last week, I have included all the guns, pilots, sounds and decals needed for these skins, you WILL need to download Stephen 1918's most excellent model these skins will NOT work on Borts original D I !!!

      I have included both DATA.ini files, the original that came with the aircraft, and the updated one by Von S , with Ocjars FM , which is derived from Peter's FM's , also the updated hit boxes by my good friend Nick Bell.
      The Guns are set to the early Spandau lmg 08 ( which isnt the same as the LMG 08 !! ) so it fires really slowly 400 -450 rpm, also the correct sound file to reflect this, both originate from Mr Von S , the Pilot is a work of art, done by the great Geezer, I wish he would make more pilots !! (hint hint ) I have just tweaked it a little, but these guys did all the hard grind work, I just pretty things up a bit ( or at least attempt to) Anyhow, please enjoy this aircraft, I shall be looking at doing addition skins for other types as I go along

      ENJOY !!

    7. Albatros D.II - 2 pack

      Note - This is a complete revision with new LODs, new skins, and new hangar and loading screens. I recommend you delete the older version and replace it with this one.

      The Albatros D.II was identical to the D.I, except that the top wing was mounted lower and farther forward to improve visibility. The fuselage, engine, and guns were the same. Early models had two radiators low on either side of the fuselage, later models had the radiator mounted in the upper wing.

      I have created both versions of the D.II. I put both radiators on the skins so the same skin can be used for both versions. The download includes two skins, a light camo and a dark camo, and a full set of personal markings for each plane. I have included my skinning templates for those who wish to make different skins.

      Credits
      My thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Albatros D.II.
      My thanks also to Nix for making the sound file for the Mercedes 160hp engine.

      Installation Instructions
      The two versions can be installed separately or both together.

      For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folders named "AlbatrosD2_Early" and "AlbatrosD2_Late" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder.

      For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folders named "AlbatrosD2_Early" and "AlbatrosD2_Late" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create new folders named "AlbatrosD2_Early" and "AlbatrosD2_Late". Move the folders named "D" from the Aircraft/AlbatrosD2 folders into the corresponding Decals/AlbatrosD2 folder you just made. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder.
