navychief Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Some time ago, Denzil posted a message that said "Dave and MontyCZ" were working on a RA-5C Viligilante addon. Haven't seen any more message traffic about this. Does anyone out there in Bio Land know the straight skinny? Have a Great Navy/Marine Corps Day! Go NAVAIR. Chief Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 ty for reminding me --havent heard any my self will do a search later at SIMHQ. think most things are at a hold due to them waiting for the second patch to be released. Quote
BERNARD1943 Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 I'm with you Navy Chieff, this plane could be terrific ! just imagine a strike mission with this one : a new experience for this sim! Any plane that do add something to gameplay is welcomed and this one could be real great. This one is on my personal top list with the "DragonFly" Quote
Guest Sony Tuckson Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Oh yes, the A-37 gimme gimme!!!!! a nice little plane a some breathtaking COIN missions to go along!!! Quote
BERNARD1943 Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Sony I forgot the F84F! evidently in my top list too To go back to the Vigilante A5A it had a strange linear bomb bay through the fuselage. Bombs were ejected from the rear! I'd like to see this in SFP1 :? Also it was a long and beautiful plane. Quote
Guest Sony Tuckson Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 yeah Vigilante is a really nice plane!! for the story, I flew some in "prototype FX13" and "Escadrille ZZ" to those who don't know, Sonny Tuckson (two N) is a character in famous aviation comics sold in France and Belgium mainly should be my avatar but always fails to display here.. navychief Posted July 1, 2003 Author Posted July 1, 2003 I almost had a ride in a Viggie. I suited up for the ride, and was strapped in. One of the hydraulic pumps malfunctioned, and they downed the plane. Never got another chance. I did, however, get several rides in Phantoms, and that made up for it! Chief Quote
Guest Ranger332 Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 dident get alot of info off simhq hummmmph Quote
+Dave Posted July 2, 2003 Posted July 2, 2003 GO NAVAIR? That's funny chief. Just remember the real air to air is handled by US Air Force. (Where's the nearest B-52?) But call me bias. Being in the USAF and all. Just pulling your leg chief. I have no room to talk really when my favorite fighter of all time is an F-8 Crusader. Quote
+Monty CZ Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 I have great info for you I am still working on Vigi mostly in version A-5B (wich was tested but not used) When 2nd patch will be released I will be able to add reckon pod and then release RA-5C but I think first of all I have to finnish this Quote
+Monty CZ Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 Just another image (one of the first in-game pics) Quote
+Dave Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 Looks good Monty, it will be a great plane to have in SF. Quote
navychief Posted July 7, 2003 Author Posted July 7, 2003 Monty, The Viggie looks GREAT! I am so impressed! Seems like almost every week there is another example of what great things are in store for this sim. When patch#2 is released, and this aircraft is added (along with my beloved A-7), I will be flying a LOT!!! Go NAVAIR! Chief P.S. Thanks again, Monty! Quote
+Monty CZ Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 Calling all Vigi fans:-) I need a little help I dont know how was the gear retracted/deployed Just now I left the tires rotating 90 degree and then hung forward and hide in the bottom of fuselage, but I dont know if it is right. Second thing I dont know is where were speed brakes on this plane? I know that landing was difficult in it but due the stability, not the speed :-) any suggestions are welcome Quote
+Dave Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 Hey Monty I have the Viggie for FS2002 done by a good friend of mine. I will take some screenies of the gear retracting and post them here. Quote
navychief Posted July 9, 2003 Author Posted July 9, 2003 I found this good picture of the aft end of a Viggie. Chief Quote
+Monty CZ Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 Great I was close :-) Thanx a lot some spoilers screens will be helpful to :-) BTW nice picture Quote
+column5 Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 Hey Monty, your RA-5C looks beautiful! Do you have any shots of the A-5B? IMO the A-5A and B are perhpas the most beautiful planes ever made--like the RA-5C, only without the "humpback". Quote
navychief Posted July 9, 2003 Author Posted July 9, 2003 Hi Monty I have sent out a couple emails to guys who were in the Heavy community. One in particular is heading up a resoration project on a Viggie down at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. Perhaps he can furnish me with some decent pictures. And perhaps there will be some spoiler pics. Chief Quote
+Monty CZ Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Thanx for your informations Column you confused :o me because I thought that the A-5B was the same shape (nearly) as RA-5C - check this link http://home.att.net/~jbaugher4/newa5_2.html If not, there will be no A-5A/B modeled by me, but I can give my source file to anybody to make changes In meantime you can compare those pics with the ones from M$FS :) Although this project is not my favorite I can say that this plane is cool as fast delivery device :D Quote
+column5 Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Hmm. Joe's site is usually very accurate, but I'd swear that the Wings of Fame article on the A-5 had pictures of the A-5B that lokoed just like an A-5A. I'll check tonight. Quote
Scout_51 Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 Hmm. Joe's site is usually very accurate, but I'd swear that the Wings of Fame article on the A-5 had pictures of the A-5B that lokoed just like an A-5A. I'll check tonight. actually I think other than the canoe under the ra type the birds pretty much looked the same.....now internally that's another kettle of rivets Quote
+Monty CZ Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Did some cosmetic changes yesterday, I have some FM, which could be acceptable for this plane so collision points, system tweaking, damage and LODs are the next BTW I downloaded practice range only because of new terrain textures and "WoW its like new sim now" :-) Quote
+column5 Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Looks great, Monty! BTW I was wrong about the shape of the B. Quote
