+ravenclaw_007 7,632 Posted October 28, 2007 what exactly do you mean by midget ? and since when does size matter if it is coming to somebody´s talent or do you thing that all his opponend were giants and thats wy they could not clime as fast because they needed more power come to think of it did Erich "Bubi" Hartmann not kill some p51 with more power then his me109 but maybe the pilot was a giant again
eraser_tr 29 Posted October 28, 2007 Well you had to be small to fit in the older planes, but he looks about the same height as that other guy. And I've seen plenty of dogs that are taller than most average sized me on their hind legs
WarlordATF 1 Posted October 28, 2007 Danish hounds are very large dogs, its hard to say exactly how big his was, but MvR is at least Average height {5'3-5'9} judging by the size of the Dr.1 in that picture. His Skill and The Dr.1s lift is more likely to have aided his legend. Just My Opinion.

Longestpants 1 Posted October 28, 2007 I have a dude in the hood who walks his Dane every day around our block. If that dog didn't produce an occasional "Wrufff!!" I would have thought it was a calf or a pony. Those critters are HUUUUUGE! As for Manfred and that theory; thank god that's a heap of ...! Pretty much the same thing for me, except the dog is an enormous sheepdog... thing. Seriously, it's the size of a short-legged sheep.
Guest Bounder Posted October 28, 2007 Everyone was shorter back then.Think the adverage hight back then was only 5'7" or there abouts.
DirtyBirdFA 1 Posted October 28, 2007 The original post didn't strike me as being a criticism to Manfred or his achievements, nor did it seem like he (original poster) was insulting Manfred out of spite. Looks to me like he was trying to make a funny thread, but ppl seem to take things to seriously. Just my impression....

Guest Alligator Devil Posted November 1, 2007 (edited) I was looking for news about KTOS and found an interesting conversation about Manfred size and his advantages: "light weight could impart that additional bit of advantage in performance when piloting these low-horsepowered aircraft." http://www.gennadich.com/forum/viewtopic.p...c&start=480 where i can download the midget pilot model ??
