tank03 Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 (edited) http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22597658/ The man led an amazing life. He was a true gentleman in the best sense of the word. We kind of take for granted what he accomplished becuase something like 100-200 people summit Everest a year (the world's high garbage dump), but he did it before nylon, Gortex, composite boots/poles, spectra cord, satelite images and weather forecasts, and every other modern convenience that makes climbing so easy today. And he did it for the right reasons. As a climber I have nothing but the greatest respect and admiration for the man; he will be missed. Edited January 11, 2008 by tank03
Atreides Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 (edited) Yeah he was cool, atleast he finally admitted after Tenzing Norga's death that Tenzing and NOT he was the first to set foot on the peak. Edited January 12, 2008 by Atreides
