+CrimsonRoamer Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 It'd be cool if it could carry it's own SAM sites. you mean like the B-1R? Quote
Dreamstar Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 ive been waiting for the B-1B to come out to have a go at makin a -R version...... Quote
+CrimsonRoamer Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008 Thrust reversers and the countermeasures suite work fine, having trouble with the bombays though (CTD when trying to open) Upon further consideration maybe a 120 Mk.84 2000lb bombs are a bit much if a single bay. If I put several weapon stations (bom-bay) and link them to the animatio it'll work. Right now the main bay is set up for conventional bomb loads (up to 1m diameter each), while the rear bay handles nine outsize weapons (up to 2.5m diameter). so you can have five times the conventional bomb-load of the B-52 up front and nine Tsar bombs in the back. Quote
dsawan Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Nice!. Please make gunship or strategic bomber verison also. Keep up good work. thx. Quote
+CrimsonRoamer Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 Got the bomb-bays working That's 120 bombs in the forward bay alone, and it looks like there is room for another row Yes, those are B61 nukes Afterwards I decided to test the countermeasures by flying over enemy airspace. Yeah, they work pretty well Quote

+CrimsonRoamer Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 (edited) I think I may have made the bomb-bay too big, on a conventional bomb-load it looks empty, and when I release the lot a once my system lags with all the explosion effects, right now I've got it set up with 144 in the front, with the option of 4 very large bombs (MOABs or Tsar bombs) in the front bay, and nine MOABs in the rear, Technically there's enough room for 8 MOABS in the front, and if If I arranged them in 5X4 rows they go 19 bombs deep (that 760 hardpoints. I had to impose a weight limit of 10,000kg for each bay grouping of 30) EDIT latest: Even with 144 Mk.82 500lb bombs it still looks kinda spacious, maybe I should make it so the bombs go at the sides and the MOABs and other outsize weapons hang in the middle Afterwards we flew over an enemy city where we were set upon by SA-6s, SA-9s and were intercepted by 6 MiG-29Cs, 2 MiG-29is914s and 2 MiG-31BMs our ECM and chaff prevented any enemy missiles tracking. Until they got within gun range. A gunship escort is looking like a good idea now. Edited September 7, 2008 by CrimsonRoamer Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 That's awesome.... I'm thinking the base model might benefit from having a tailgun, though. Can you mount missiles on it that'll fire backwards? that would be neat. Otherwise, a 30mil would be handy. I can't wait for this one... it's on my list of "must haves" once I get a comp upgrade. i90807065 Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I can just hear some sort of epic operatic song (which sounds russian) playing in my head right now. We no longer need an XB-0 with this (or should I say these) monstrosities flying around and bombing the mess out of allied (in my case enemy) bases. Great work CR, keep it up! Quote

+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I was thinkin about another thing, you can link the vector thrust to keys but what if you link a "disc on the top or bottom of the plane to this key, with a missile in it. This is a rotatable station. turn it 180 degree Quote
FastCargo Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Won't quite work that way...I've tried. The missile will rotate, but when you fire it, it will fire in the direction dictated in the ini file...NOT in the rotated direction. FastCargo Quote
i90807065 Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 As if guns werent bad enough...this is gonna surpass Xb-0 and "Agamemnon", simply because it will be bigger and have the best aspects of both (Ex: AAA/AAMs,massive weapons load,a lotta armor,6 engines) This thingll be a pain to bring down (for them americans that is). I may not even have to escort them, unlike certain BUFFs I know... But wait, wont that put me out of a job? I mean why have hundreds of fighter jets buzzing around when you can have 2-5 of these WMDs floatin around? Once again mate, great work Quote

FastCargo What about if you linked the pylon to the model node of a rotating radome? that way the missile would sweep 360 degrees EDIT: I reduced the depth of the bomb bay by half to help mitigate the problems with overloading the aircraft (I really ought to try installing SDBs) However, in keeping with the tradition of ekranoplanes I installed something else instead A pair of ALBM launchers. I also managed to stop the uncommanded pitch down, at least while the engines are idle EDIT 2: Edited September 11, 2008 by CrimsonRoamer Quote
+CrimsonRoamer Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 (edited) I moved the center of gravity back and lowered the thrust positions of the engines so now its stable in flight and almost ready for beta release, all that's required now is skinning and setting collision points and min-max extents (I can't seem to get the minmax maxscript working) Also this strange glitch started happening. The pilot positions are correct but I keep gettig this glitch Any ideas? as for the ALBM, she can carry Anti-ship missiles like the caspian sea monster, or cruise missile, in addition to over 100 bombs and assorted munitions That missile is the new Russian Bulava cruise missile http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulava_(missile) Has anyone got any ideas as to how it could be launched at a 25degree angle like the launcher Right now I'm thiking of 3 versions, a strike version (bombs and cruise missiles) an AWACs (with intercept radar and long range missiles like the B-1R) and an escort version (gun turrets) Most of the modelling problems are done with. on to skinning and flight model Edited September 12, 2008 by CrimsonRoamer Quote
i90807065 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 OMG!!! This is amazing!!! As if an 1 wasnt enough, 3?!?!?! AND ALICBMs?!?!?! All anyone needs is one of each flying in formation and that person could rule the world...or should I say...I Mother Russia strikes! Quote
+aleks Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 in the middle of '80's i saw in a defense magazine a picture (artwork of what they pressumed to see from satelite photos) of the USSR ekranoplanes Utka Class(these monsterous aircraft that fly about 30 meters over the Kaspian sea). Those ones carried the heavy missiles at the top of the fuselage in blocks of four. They used containers as the ground launchers.perhaps, is fai enough to have a look at those aircraft, nevertheless as speed and dimensions are almost similar with be-2500 Quote
+CrimsonRoamer Posted September 19, 2008 Author Posted September 19, 2008 Since I'm going to be very busy for the rest of the semester I'll probably release a beta version tomorrow. It will be very crudely skinned, with a unrefined flight model, and may explode without warning. Quote
+76.IAP-Blackbird Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 The Plane May explode without warning ... this is the last sentence the producer gives his testpilot, turns around and say good flight Quote
+CrimsonRoamer Posted September 20, 2008 Author Posted September 20, 2008 Beta version uploaded. I think I may also have fixed the problem with the nosegear hanging out. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=7322 Quote
Rambler 1-1 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 great job with the Ekranoplane launchers! Looks awesome! might wanna try the C-130 cockpit, it's a bit closer to then the A-6 pit, but I wouldn't care if it had an A-4 pit: It's big, it carries more bombs then Canada owns and a flight of them would be unstoppable! They could sink Japan! It kinda reminds me of the Maksim Gorki of the 20s, just make sure some MiG-29 pilot doesn't pull a Blargin. Quote
THEJETDEMON Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 (edited) Looks super lethal, could you launch parasite fighters from it? Edited October 10, 2008 by THEJETDEMON Quote
Falcon161 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 This thing could take some damage from thelooks of it! Wonder how many AMRAMMS it would take to bring this behemoth down? Quote
