Canopy Ups and Downs

Recommended Posts

I have found that with the latest patches, some of my aircraft that had canopy animation working, appear to work in reverse. Opens as the aircraft accelerates on the runway instead of closing. Anybody else run into that problem? Anybody got a fix?

1 way is to go to the canopy section in the aircrafts data ini and just change it to manual:

[Canopy]

.........

DeploymentMethod=MANUAL

Anybody got a fix?

I said AGAIN: just swap DeployValue & RetractValue, like in A-37A, i patched ~ 20-30 planes include Yak-28B, all works GOOD.

[Canopy]

SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE

DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_SPEED

Setting[1].Angle=30.0

Setting[1].DeployValue=10.0

Setting[1].RetractValue=15.0

MaxDeflection=30.0

MinDeflection=0.0

ControlRate=0.3

AnimationID=5

I am giving myself 1000 lashes with a wet noodle. I asked the same question on an earlier post and got the same answers. Didn't pay attention or write down the fixes then, but I will now..........Stupid me!

I for one do not like.... Ok no sugar coating here...'despise' the "automatic airspeed" entries, I much prefer this

I have full control over it being opened or closed, and the entry is much neater.

I'm with drdoyo on this one...canopies are meant to be manual...

I wish there was a 'ripped off the aircraft' parameter for animations...would work great for the drag chute and canopies...

Far as the canopy with a MANUAL deploy. In SF1/WOV at mission start the canopy is closed and you hit the command to open it if you desire. Any way to reverse that so at mission start its open and you can close it at your discretion, or are we stuck with doing it using HighLift_Device and Automatic for that to work. I tried several commands to no avail. In a third party F-105D for Example.

Suggestions are welcome.

[Canopy]

SystemType=animation

InputName=ANIMATION_10

ReverseAnimation=TRUE <<<nope

ReverseCanopyOrientation=TRUE <<<nope

ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE <<<nope

DeployOnGears=TRUE <<<nope

OpenOnGround=TRUE <<<nope

DeployOnGround=TRUE <<<nope

DeploymentMethod=MANUAL

MaxDeploySpeed=20

DragArea=0.50

AnimationTime=3.0

AnimationID=10

I did some testing and (sofar) I've found that any entry that needs the "AnimationID=" cannot be reversed. I've had to reverse the animations on a few meshes then re-export the model for things to work correctly.
