More work, fixed the VMFA(AW)-225 as well as adding a national roundel. Also nose is of an early version (not sure) but here it is so far:

Took some artistic liberties with the roundels as I have no reliable shots or reference pictures (nor could I find some new ones) so that was the last thing I needed to do, so it's also uploaded.

Starting to realize that most of these F/A-18B/D jets were shelved due to lack of reference photos, as this one was done off of one I believe as my reference folder has only two images of this:

when you say lack of reference photos, whatcha using besides google searches?

i've been using google as a base line, then visiting the sites link that the pic is from. i've also used groups on FB (esp veterans of that aircraft, not just fanboys) as a really good source. The B-52 group, with its many crew chiefs and weapons guys, has given excellent support during my most recent project.

also tapdance your searches, input as many variations of the theme as you can think of however off the wall or seemingly irrelevant

Hello Eric,

I like your new skins !!! :drinks:

About the TMF F/A-18D (compared with your F/A-18F) in my install, the behavior of the rudders ("toe in/out" function) is not the same !

Rudders "toe out" position with the Hornet and "toe in" position with the  Super Hornet during the similar flight phase...

What do you think about this from your experience ? :hi:

FastCargo did the 3D model work for the Super Hornet while bpao did the TMF birds, so there is nothing I can do about the animations if that is what you're asking. And I have no experience with the real jets so I don't know really.

Hi Eric, welcome home, and loving the new skins.

I may be misremembering, but did you once post a WIP of an F/A-18F skin from Behind Enemy Lines?

It's been a while since I saw the movie but  think it had an NJ tailcode. No idea what the squadron was, but I'm guessing it wasn't one that actually flew over Bosnia?

Just now, EricJ said:

I still have that skin, the movie squadron was "VFA-163" and so on. I can set it up if you want it.

Yes please.

I think some of the guys are working on a Balkans terrain, so this will fit right in.

Also, we can do some screenies for Wrench's Movie Madness thread!

nope technically not even the right branch

it was (VERY) loosely styled off of USAF CPT Scott O'Grady's F-16 being shoot down in 95. https://theaviationgeekclub.com/f-16-down-scott-ogrady-explains-how-he-was-shot-down-over-bosnia/

he wasnt too happy with the movie and actually sued 20th Century Fox over Owen Wilsons portrayal of him (esp when the studio was claiming the film to be true to life)

Another skin I did, very basic scheme for the F-31A Mustang II, found this when trying to help somebody. Already uploaded but is a basic "Mod Eagle" scheme for that aircraft.
