gbnavy61 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 (edited) That's a good find, Dave. In Image 5 you can see the pilot going for the face curtain. The dude got like a half-swing under the silk. One lucky SOB. Edited January 28, 2009 by gbnavy61 Quote
Slartibartfast Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 When you've got to leave you've got to leave... Now thats what you call a good bad day at the office... And for those wanting to know the F-8 Crusader was equipped with the Martin-Baker Aircraft Mk. F-5 ejection seat, which was later updated to the Mk. F-7 standard. Quote
Rodent Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 If that was me my suit too would have been soaked well before I hit the water. Quote
ezlead Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 The one system in the aircraft that you never want to use. But,when the situation warrants, you don't even think twice about it. You go for the handle and pull hard. The old "nylon decent- to a full stop" Quote
charlielima Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Some where there is a film or at least a photo series of a crud driver punching out while his plane was still controllable. It was taken by his wingman. Some really excellant imagery. There is also some "film" from the plat somewhere of an ejection, can't remember if it was a cold cat or bad trap, but the pilot or NFO landed on the carrier deck with a partial chute. Broke some bones. Did better then some skiers do after a scrape. CL Quote
